Re: Yes, Nintendo Really Is Allowing A Game With 'Hentai' In The Title On Switch

@BloodNinja I guess I was being kind of reactionary in assuming that you were being reactionary haha. But yeah you're right with problems that predominantely concern woman the male perspective tends to be neglected. It's just that often when this is brought up peolpe say something like "this also happens to men" and move on as this would make it any less bad.
And i think that's a pity because i think it is a very interesting and complex issue. If you want to lean more about it I recommend a video on xenoblade chronicles 2 on youtube. Something like "xenoblade chronicles 2 and sexualisation" i think. Opened my eyes quite a bit on the topic and why it is not as simple as saying "well there are topless dudes too".

Re: Yes, Nintendo Really Is Allowing A Game With 'Hentai' In The Title On Switch

@BloodNinja I would agree with you on the point that objectifying men can also be just as bad. It just seems a little reactionary to mention this on an article concerning a game specifically objectifying woman. I would also argue that this happens a LOT more with woman than men. A character that is only partialy clothed does not mean it is being objectified, it's more about what the purpose of the character is, if it is more than eyecandy, if it has a personality beyond being "the hot one". And I think there is a big imbalance between the sexes here in videogames in particular. But again, does not make it less bad if men are targeted.

@RadioHedgeFund I get what you are saying but i think you could apply that to every industry and therefore argue that no person could be overpaid. I mean the profit amazon does is also from sales and every dollar (don't quote me on that) they make is directly from customers (fans are customers too) so would you also argue that jeff bezos is not overpaid? My question is in what case is then someon overpaid by your rules?

I never said the artists should'nt be compensated for their work of course they should. The question is should someone be compensated with a million dollars or 100 million dollars, that's what people argue when they are talking about overpayment. And I can't speak for everyone but i do think that a lot of bands and musicians are "overpaid". I just can't justify in my mind that some person earns a thousand times more than an average worker beacause noone can work a thousand times harder than an average worker.
Maybe one additional aspect is the distribution within an industry. If managers in the UEFA would make a hundred times more than a professional player I think you would also argue that they are overpaid. And vice versa I am sure that there are people in the football industry that are severly underpaid (underpaid in the sense that they can't survive with that money) which one could make up for by paying professional players and managers less.
And no I am not arguing that it does economically not make sense, these wages are there for a reason (not always of course). I am merely saying that I think it's hard for me to justify ethically a person making that much more money than others.

Re: One Of The World's Most Famous Footballers Is Coming To Fortnite, And He Can Turn Into A Robot Cat

@RadioHedgeFund so are you suggesting that no worker in the private sector can be overpaid? I think when most people say someone's overpaid they mean that this person earns an astronomical wage that they feel cannot really be justified. Justified not in an economic sense but in an ethical sense. And I think most people pretending that about footballers would say the same thing about actors. People are just a little more dismissive of footballers as the industry is continually in the news for being very corrupt and unethical (see for example the hundreds of deaths in qatar)

@Franklin Comparing GameFreak to a political party? haha what

I mean i get that people are not happy with the decisions GF made and would have liked a better product and of course you should criticise the practices you feel are scummy. But i just feel some people get way to worked up about these things, i mean come on it's video games, if you don't like it don't buy it as simple as that.
GF does not owe you a good game and you do not owe them your money, as simple as that.
Not saying things like this should not be discussed but if you get frustrated by the actions of a company, just move on and stop buying their things.

Re: Unlocking All Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Should Only Take A Couple Of Hours

Ensemen

@Cobalt I agree with you that a part of what makes dktf so good is its difficulty but there are so many other aspects that are fantastic (music, surroundings, level design).
So why shouldn't you let other people enjoy it?
I mean if they made the game as a whole easier just to appeal to casual gamers then you would have a point.
But it's an OPTION. You don't have to use it so i really don't get why you get so worked up about this.

Re: Unlocking All Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Should Only Take A Couple Of Hours

Ensemen

@Cobalt Oh man i don't get your line of thinking.
I really love dktp and i think it's one of the best games of all time and part of that i think is because of the perfect difficulty (for me). But i know just how hard it is. My girlfriend tried to play it but it was way to hard for her.
So why should you keep other people from playing this games and experiencing this fantastic work of art just because you somehow think that having options is a bad thing?
If you really love gaming and know how awesmoe it can be you should be all for making games more accessible with options so more people can enjoy it.
Don't be an elitist.

Re: Guide: Spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Explained

Ensemen

@NEStalgia I think the difference is that in world of light you have a set path and a "storyline" and you fight different spirits that fit the surroundings. Whereas in spirit mode you can choose between a few different spirtits and fight against them to unlock it. I think the fights themselves are pretty similiar in the two modes but im world of light you also have a map, a story and a skill tree.

Re: SNK Producer Was Amazed How Audiences Reacted To "Fatal Cutie" Terry Bogard

@AlternateButtons I mean this line is only pretentious if you interpret it to be. It's just a fact that it's not in everyone's taste. I don't see how this line should be judgemental.

I think your line with the whole "soy boy" is way more judgemental and condescending. As if you're an idiot if you think there's something wrong with an oversexualised game.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates The First Anniversary Of Super Mario Odyssey

Ensemen

@rushiosan Yeah i had that problem too. Since i'm a completionist i tried to get all the korok seeds and do as much as possible but after 2 divine beasts and 200 hours of playtime i was just burnt out. So i did the other 2 within 20 hours. I am sure playing it without completion in mind makes it a way better game but i cant turn it off.

That said mario odyssey is completionist heaven. It's just so fun exploring every inch of this compact world.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Maddening Stance On Retro Gaming Is Driving Me To Piracy

Ensemen

@tedko What the hell? I didn't make any argument at all. I never said any of those things and i have no interest in discussing this topic with you.

The only thing i did was pointing out how you were complaining about people making a comparison to murder but in your very next comment you made a comparison with slavery. Note that comparing =/= equating. He used a discussion technique were you try to look at something in another perspective by comparing it to something completely different. You complained about that but used the very same technique in your next comment.

I didn't say anything about my opinion regarding your both comments. The thing i want to say is: don't complain about someone doing something if you're gonna do it yourself.

And see you're doing the exact same thing in your latest comment. Comparing it to something completely different.
Is this so hard to understand or do you not WANT to understand it?

Re: New Study Suggests That Playing Violent Video Games Leads To Increased Physical Aggression

Ensemen

Aw come on why are people so stubborn. The world isn't black and white. Just because there are some people that overreact and portray games as something horrible doesn't mean that the games have no effect at all. If someone talks about how videogames positively impact the players they will blow every small correlation out of proportion but as soon as it is something negative about videogames they say how there's "just correlation and not causation". Yeah it is just correlation but a lot of things we believe today are solely based on correlation. In fact most studies are based on correlation.
I would just suggest to maybe think about these topics critically and not just think of it as an attack on your hobby.
Allthough i think if we talk about violence in video games we also have to talk about violence in other media. Most studies that i've read about this were about violence in all media not just videogames.

Re: Nintendo Switch Now Supports Digital Game Sharing, But There's A Catch

Ensemen

Wait wait wait wait... People are actually expecting to be able to play one single copy on multiple copies? Do people even realise that one could buy just one copy and give them to all the other people. Of course only one can play at a time because you only bought one game what do you expect?
Sometimes i just don't understand the entitlement of some people.
