@larryisaman Totally agree, I‘m positive if they left out the free roam completely a lot of people would complain less. I never expected too much from this mode, saw it as a fun little distraction and that‘s exactly what it is.

To balance out the negativity in these comments I want to say that i have enjoyed my time with the game A LOT. I think the new mechanics add a lot of depth and make the gameplay much deeper. Same for the chaos with 24 players, at first i also thought that it makes the game much more random but then i started to develop strategies to best handle the chaos (e.g. Drive on the sidelines, hold onto items, stay in the back and pick up coins), turning the chaos again into a skill issue.

I was at first disappointed by the interconnectedness of the world. One reason is that the first cup is in my opinion also the weakest one. But I also started to enjoy the world more and more the more i played. After a while it clicked and the interconnectedness makes the single tracks much more monumental in my opinion. Like I don‘t think bowser‘s track would be as impressive by itself compared to how you first drive up the volcano to get there. It‘s hard to explain but i enjoy the concept of intermissions way more now than i did in the beginning, hope other people will have the same experience

I don't know but wasn't this bound to happen? Wasn't it to be expected that the price of games couldn't stay at 60$ forever while the cost of everything and the budget of videogame development constantly went up? Most Publishers adapted by introducing microtransactions, live-services and other (imo) downright scummy tactics. I'd much rather have an outright more expensive game than having them subsidized by people with gambling addictions. Or am i missing something?

Edit: Of course this, as any price increase, sucks. I just feel that an increase like this is better than the alternative.

I bought this game a few weeks ago and had a lot of fun first but stopped pretty early because i felt that at a certain point it wasn't really difficult or engaging? With most rounds after 10 minutes or so i can just idle for most of the game and run in circles to collect diamonds, but it's not engaging at all. Am i doing something wrong? Because the game is super popular and i just don't seen to get it

@LikelySatan Sorry I'm not so sure what prompted this response, i don't really get how this relates to the things I wrote. I was trying to do exactly what you are mentioning, pointing out an obvious boogeyman, I think we are on the same side here (?)

@Reztobi You really think there is a big overlap between activists supporting diversity/inclusivity/LGBT and the upper management of huge profit-oriented companies? You think these higher-ups go to leftist protest in their free time? I don't think you've ever really spoken to an activist of that kind if you think they'd generally be intersted in such a job (there are exceptions but it's certainly not the norm)

@steely_pete Whats so feminine about these animations and poses I don't get it. I played a lot of splatoon and never really thougt that feminine stuff was favoured at all, and I'm a boy. I actually think most of the poses and animations are pretty cool, why does everything have to be manly or feminine?

@Chaotic_Neutral Dude I think you are really overestimating how much people care about this culture wars. Hardly anyone would pass on a movie they would otherwise like just because it could be perceived as woke. And noone would watch a movie they would otherwise not like because they like the woke messaging.
And why is disney struggling? Well because the movies they are releasing lately are just really bad. People are getting tired of superhero movies and could not care less about these soulless liveaction remakes (although imo they are still too succesfull). And they are not bad because they are woke or whatever, they're just bad. None of my friends that you would probably label as "woke" watch much from disney anymore.

@Chaotic_Neutral Yes I'm sure the Mario movie did so well because it kept the genders and races consistent and not, you know, because it's one of the most recognizable brands of all time.

Aaaaaah new game modes was lookimg forward to that sooo much but I don't see being able to drag myself from TOTK anytime soon

Yeah as much as I like the botw and totk format I think I slightly prefer the old formular. But a lot of people seem to be really enjoying the new format and the series got a lot of new fans so I'm happy more people can enjoy this series. And the older games still exist, so if I want I can just go back and play those. Zelda imo is extremely replayable.

I am fine with 30 fps and the occasional dips but I would really like if they could avoid low performance areas like the deku (?) forest in botw. I am not usually bothered by framerate dips but I activeöy avoided this area because it was just cumbersome there

@Cheez I hear this argument that reviews are now all about politics all the time but is that even true? I mean I myself am quite left leaning and all for diversity and whatnot and move in fairly leftleaning circles but noone cares that much about this stuff in movies/videogames really. I mean yeah sometimes it's fun to analyze the social comentary a movie is making but I don't know any people that base their general opinion on this. I mean no idea what reviews you are reading but I haven't seen anyone talking about politics regarding the new mario movie, the only thing i heard was people criticising the movie for being woke when that snippet of peach training mario released. I don't know it just seems that you are reading some batshit twitter takes and assuming that this represents reviewers in general.

Man some people seem to think reviewers are the antichrist. If your opinions don't align with a reviewer's well then just don't base your buying decisions on them an move on? But as much as you are allowed to broadcast your opinion, reviewers are too and well some people DO align with their opinions. I have discovered countless of fantastic movies and videogames because of the recommendation from some reviewers. But if you'd rather just listen to your gut instinct, more power to you.
Sorry but it's kind of getting annoying the fuss people are making because the general critic's opinion doesn't align with theirs. It should in no way impact how much you enjoyed the movies so why do you care?

@johnvboy You think it is more likely that this is some grand critics conspiracy of leftists against a movie with a christian (and not necessarily anti-left) actor than just the fact that people have different tastes? I mean come on really?
You know I recently watched john wick chapter 4 and thought it was terrible while most critics seem to praise it. Do I make it out to be a political conspiracy? No i just accept that tastes differ and move on with my life.

@Res462 I don't need to see tha actual movie for me to point out that criticising a review for not taking fanservice into account enough is in my opinion a weird take. If you like fanservice more power to you but also accept that some people look for other things in a movie.

@Toads-Friend Believe it or not, but some people want a little more out of a movie than fanservice and I'm glad nintendolife judged it for what it is, a movie, and not automatically gave it extra point because of it reminding them of good games.
A lot of people really seem to have enjoyed it, and I'm glad they did. But it seems some can't really accept that other people think differently. I absolutely love the mario games but I have zero interest in watching this movie.

@MrSeitaro Noone was expecting a "super complex, deep and intricate story". Stop with the strawmanning already. People were hoping for an engaging and interesting story. And you can do that with a plot as simple as "guy saves girl" as movies (and kids movies!) have shown time and time again. Glad your daughter enjoyed it though.

A lot of "it's an animated kids movie so you shouldn't have high expectations" energy in this comment section unfortunately. Movies like "Puss in boots 2", "the lego movie" or even "kung fu panda" have shown that you can make excellent movies for kids and adults alike. And to the people saying "mario doesn't have a good story so why were you expecting a good story?". I mean it's a whole different medium and lego movie seemed to manage too with no story to base it on.
If you enjoy it, more power to you. But if someone doesn't, don't blame it on them having slightly more expectations than absolute zero.

no idea what's up with some of you people but everytime nintendolife posts something about a youtuber some people in the comment section seem to be in a competition on who can spin this story the most negatively. like how can you be bothered so much by something like this? i don't get it

@Kitmit13 Yeah of course you and a particular reviewer will not always see eye to eye thats why there are people's opinion I value more than others, because I know they like the same games I do. And for me the metacritic score is a pretty reliable indicator of how much I am going to like a game. And yeah of course I may miss out on some games I would have liked but I also become aware of a lot of games I would not have noticed if it wasn't for a recommendation or a high metascore. I generally play games of a lot higher quality now than compared to when I was a kid, where I picked a game based on how cool it looked or if it was part of a recognizable brand.

No idea about this particular reviewer I was just annoyed about how a lot of people seem to not understand the point of reviews

@ImpactGameStation No idea what you want to say with your first sentence. Like I am not playing games in order to form opinions about them I play them because they're fun? What do I care what the reason is i bought a game for as long as I am having fun.

And i don't think anyone is basing their choices on a single person's opinion. Like people know about metacritic and gameplay trailers. Just you know, gameplay trailers are in my experience much less of an indicator of quality than reviews. And of course reviews can be biased, they are an opinion piece after all 😅

@ImpactGameStation How people still bring up this point is beyond me.
The point of reading reviews is to help you decide if you should buy a game or not. Most people don't have the money or the time (some have neither) to try every game they have a slight interest in themselves. Happy for you if you are still able to do that. I am definitely not.

Man some people in the comment section seem to be almost celebrating the downfall E3. Don't really get why. Always liked the anticipaton and the event that E3 was. And even if it was cringe sometimes, that's half the fun. I'm really going to miss it that's for sure.

I mean I am usually in the whole if a company f's up in some way or treats their employees unfairly you should hesitate buying products from them camp but in this case I just don't see it sorry. If she went on twitter and complained about this low offer that would be one thing, but like including this stuff about her mental health which the company is not really at fault (I assume at least) and then asking fans to boycott the game just feels kind of vitriolic to me. And of cours the comment about the new VA. Like make it known you got a really bad offer and then people themselves can decide if they want to boycott anything, but this...

@Darknyht Honestly, if the service continues onto other consoles I am not bothered by it. If the servers go down however in a few years because of a Switch 2.0, that would kind of suck.I just feel they should offer the possibility to download the games onto the console when the servers go down, I would also be willing to pay an extra fee.

Dumb question, just started using the n64 expansion pack and having a blast. Is there a possibility that as soon as the servers go down on the nintendo switch that we will be able to keep the games or download them permanently for a small fee? Would be a real bummer to loose all my save files and feels a little wasted

Everytime a creator that I like is mentioned in a nintendolife article I scroll to the comments to see what people think about that person and man it is always overwhelmingly negative. Like I don't know what it is about you guys but some here seem to really like taking people down in order to feel better about themselves. Not to say there is nothing to criticise about dunkey but some of you are acting like he is satans spawn for wanting to support smaller indie creators.

Man I am really surprised that some people seem to genuinely have enjoyed the direct, because I thought it was super disappointing and I'm usually more positive than the majority. I don't know it was just extremely bloated with some really bad looking games, like some of those ""remasters"" looked like ps1 graphics. They seem more like cashgrabs to me and I don't think belong in a direct. And then it was just RPG after RPG after RPG and I am usually used to that since directs are always filled with them but man this was just ridiculous, no variety at all really. Pikmin 4 and BOTW2 are of course very very exciting but a title card and a 10 second clip was not really doing it for me. The only thing I got excited about was Goldeneye and factorio, those are two games I have been eyeing for a long-time. But the rest..

I remember watching his video on that topic today and he mentioned how he expects to have a lot of retweets and negative feedback on this opinion piece and I thought it was a joke, like people can't be so offended by an opinion on a videogame but oh my.. Like I don't even agree with him and I feel like this is exactly the same discussion we had for splatoon 2 and that turned out great, but still..
Just don't take opinion pieces so personal, people think differently about things and that is okay. And yeah we all love video games but you know, it's just video games. No need to get personal.

Anyone noticing how we are having the exact same discussion before splatoon 3 that we had before splatoon 2? 5 years ago people also heavily discussed if there is enough content to warrant a sequel (and in my opinion in the end it absolutely did). So maybe let‘s just wait and see for once?
