Update: 20% pre-order discount also live in the US too.
Despite Oddworld creator Lorne Lanning saying that he has no faith in the Nintendo Switch way back in 2017, it seems developer Oddworld Inc has warmed up to Switch over time and we'll see Abe make the jump to Switch early next year in Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD.
In this definitive version of the game, FPS controls and gyroscopic aiming has been added to deliver the ultimate experience when it launches in January.
For those who missed Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath when it launched on other platforms way back in 2010, here is a quick recap of what the game is all about:
You're the Stranger, a mysterious bounty hunter on a mission to bag the ultimate prize. And you need that money like no one else because there is something very wrong with your health and the only way to fix it is a very costly operation. However the nature of your illness remains a secret and as you find out during the game, for a good reason.
In the dusty, undeveloped wastelands of Western Mudos, cantankerous townsfolk find their settlements besieged by belligerent outlaws. Along comes Stranger, a tall, dark and enigmatic bounty hunter with a mission to capture troublemakers and scoundrels and return them to civilized townships for incarceration.
But Stranger is keeping a secret and needs expensive surgery to survive. In his quest to earn enough Moolah, Stranger reluctantly accepts the ultimate bounty from the owner of the Mongo River and suddenly his adventure takes a very different turn.
The game is up for pre-order right now on Switch eShop and there seems to be a 20% pre-order discount bringing it down from $29.99 / £26.99 / 29,99€ to $23.99 / £21.59 / 23,99€.
Let us know if you plan to pick this up early next year with a comment below.

Wasn't this the guy who was bashing the switch at some point?
Do I buy this yet again. Even have it on my android TV! Great game but only so many times I can play through the tutorial...
Finally. Already pre-ordered.
You can bank on this one getting a Limited Run Games physical release at some point, as they've already done so for previous Oddworld titles, including Stranger's Wrath on PS3.
I LOVED this game on the original Xbox. At some point (Well into the game) I decided to use the invincibility cheat code. It ruined the experience for me. To the point to where I never finished the game. I thought it would be a fun thing to do. I never used an invincibility cheat code again.
I don't think Abe is in this game? Its just the same universe.
But. Still keen as I loved this game back on xbox
@Ensemen It’s the first sentence of the article...
Article says released 2010 lol was released 2005 on ps3 and 360 lol
First of all, I will never ever pre-order digitally again. Not after Pillars of Eternity...
And is there no publisher to release the game physically?
I’ll hold off for physical
£26.99! Not bad for a game from 2005.
@Darkyoshi98
Even further back than that, it was on the OG XBox
@ShaiHulud
Yeah I thought that. Almost interested but the price is a bit steep for me.
Lol I meant ps2 and xbox.lol I have no idea why I said ps3 and 360 lol
He now has faith since he saw and underestimate how the switch is really capable of.
@HobbitGamer my bad
Good game, but $30 is a lot. I got this for less than $10 on PC back in 2015.
I'm actually chuffed about this.
One of my all time favourites.
And I just got my hands on the physical vita version last week...
Abe's making a return? He's in this?
I've always been interested in this game ever since I've seen the port on VITA.
30 dollars? Ehh... I might wait on a sale or buy the game on other platform for cheaper.
Hopefully after this they also port Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty as well. I still got my PS Vita and Wii U copy but to have a Switch version would be nice. This was a spectacular remake of the original PlayStation Classic game.
If it doesn't get delayed again....and again....and again.
Brilliant game but not at that price seeing as I've already paid for it twice.
Half that maybe
I guess at the time when the Switch was coming out, Lanning didn't have faith in it after how the Wii U did. Can't blame him to be honest, although his comment about Iwata was in poor taste (even though he did apologise about it afterwards).
Regardless, I hope this reconciliation can mean that more of the Oddworld universe will be ported over to the Switch but like the others here, I too bank on a physical release by Limited Run Games.
I absolutely loved this on OG Xbox and even played through on iPad but that price is SILLY MONEY... :-
Have this on my One plus 7 pro and this is an amazing game! Would love to get this on NS! Very unique and funny game!
