Like I said earlier, I think this counts more of an anniversary than a birthday but either way props to Nintendo for 130 years of weird, enjoyable products.
This game is beyond Contra III tier, making it the best shooter I've played in the past decade.
It also comes very close to overtaking C The Contra Adventure as the best game in the Contra series. This installment has convinced me that the franchise has a bright future ahead just like Konami's Metal Gear games.
So that's their angle. Microsoft wanted us Nintendo fans to get hooked on the first Ori so they can tempt us away from our Switches to play its sequel.
Some of us came to terms with Nintendo using "Special" editions of N.E.S. games as filler but I can't imagine anybody that would let two Special editions of the same game off the hook.
Come on Nintendo, pick up your game by giving us games.
@Silly_G It's kinda preference thing. Some people feel it is cheap to reuse the same bosses in later levels and that it also takes away the tension their presence initially had.
Personally, I think the bosses in Doom (2016) were a bit standard but still fun.
My Wii Remote ended up getting "locked" in a sense. It just kept flashing one L.E.D. at a time in a left-to-right pattern and it wouldn't do anything else.
I went with the European version although the U.S. version does a better job of depicting the actual game with the infected hordes and the implied action based tone.
@Angelic_Lapras_King I checked up on it and development dates back as early as 2013.
I was enjoying the game and, even though personal interests are often at odds with companies, I wanted a bit more than what was provided. It kinda feels like the game and its players were abandoned and I still feel like something could have been done to salvage it but I'm not in their shoes. At least we got that Crimson Moon update.
@frabbit They were aware of the dying market before its release and pulled out as soon as the sales figures came in.
If they had the conviction to stay behind the game, maybe something could come out of it. But nope, their idea was to release a new I.P. and just hope that the lack of T.T.L. competition would mean their game could succeed.
What kind of sense does it make to venture into a declining market and jump ship when the expected happens?
I hate to sound harsh but I feel they should put more effort into this teaser if they are pitching this for an official release, especially since SEGA was partially responsible for the Archie series getting axed.
Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon. They did acknowledge on their Patreon page that the teaser was rather poor in quality and promised much more. I'm still fairly skeptical but I guess we shouldn't just collectively dismiss it without thinking about how things on going on their end.
Honestly a tough choice. The U.S. and Europe got red Ridley with that amazing expression on his face while Japan got the one that presented a lot more of the detail and dynamic action.

Re: Happy 130th Birthday, Nintendo!
Wouldn't it be more of an anniversary than a birthday? I guess that Nintendo is so cherished and unique we kinda think of it as a person.
Anyway, congratulations to Nintendo to making it this far.

Anyone up for a revamped version of Nintendo Land's Luigi's Ghost Mansion making it into the D.L.C.?
Re: Trademark Discovery Suggests Klonoa, Mr Driller And Splatterhouse Might Be Making A Comeback
A Splatterhouse comeback would be great...as long as it doesn't end up the like the first time they try to reboot it.

Re: Ubisoft Expected More From Starlink, Plans To "Create Better Products" For Family Market
It's interesting that he phrases it as "this franchise". Perhaps we'll see more of Starlink in the future.

@GameOtaku I was about to say.
Re: You'll Really Dig This New Shovel Knight Game From Yacht Club And Nitrome
Nitrome? That name looks familiar. I feel like they had made some flash games in the past or something of that sort.

Re: Streets Of Rage 4 Is Officially Coming To Switch, With A New Character
Isn't a "rocker" character a bit too cliche?
Re: Streets Of Rage 4 Is Officially Coming To Switch, With A New Character
Was there a Reggie reference in that character description?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #4 - River City Ransom / Street Gangs
Japan's cover art was the most faithful and dedicated art style to go along with the game.
I'll probably the U.S. version as second for its grittier appearance with the European version being third by default.
Re: Poll: Have You Ever Had Problems With Nintendo Hardware?
My Wii Remote ended up getting "locked" in a sense. It just kept flashing one L.E.D. at a time in a left-to-right pattern and it wouldn't do anything else.
Re: Streets Of Rage 4 Details To Be Revealed Next Week
Perhaps they will reveal more playable characters.
There should be more than just two since the first game started off with three,
Re: You No Longer Need A Bethesda Account To Play DOOM And DOOM II On Switch
The login is now optional? Great! Only 20 more patches until everything is in order.

These N.L. writers seem pretty fond of alliteration in their reviews.

What's with the lack of Shinobi love in these comments?

Re: Dedicated Fans Are Working To Revive A '90s Sonic Cartoon With New Series
The animation seems jerky and stiff.

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Video Presentation On 30th July Will Reveal The Hero's Release Date
I'm more interested in the Version 4.0 update than the Hero discussion.
I hope we get another mode or at least some improvements to Shared Content and its related creation modes.

I'll have to choose Japan's by a small margin.
Re: Bethesda Says Login For Classic DOOM Games On Switch Should Be Optional, Working On A Fix
@Silly_G I've been hearing that games were remade in Unity so that may be the case.
Re: Fire Emblem Voice Actor Has Dialogue Removed Following Admissions Of Abuse
Isn't this replacement a prominent anime dub voice actor?
Re: PEGI Rating Suggests DOOM 64 Is Making A Comeback
The Unmaker in this game is probably the most underrated weapon in gaming. It is about B.F.G. tier in terms of fun.
Re: The Original DOOM, DOOM II And DOOM 3 Are Available On Switch Now
This may be a dumb question but doesn't Doom 3 include both Ultimate Doom and Doom 2?
Re: The Original DOOM, DOOM II And DOOM 3 Are Available On Switch Now
@Severian Seeing the Unmaker on Switch would be great. I hope I'll see it again in Doom Eternal.
Re: Shovel Knight's Board Game Kickstarter Has Been Cancelled, Relaunching Mid August
@Retron It hasn't gotten to the point where he has become Shovelware Knight but I do understand your viewpoint.

I'm not joking here. What is Joy-Con drift?
Re: Review: Etherborn - A Work Of Art Hampered By Its Own Brilliance
I'm kinda tempted to buy this to see if it as hard as I'm being told.
Re: Game Freak Isn't Reusing 3DS Models In Pokémon Sword and Shield
@nintendoknife You're right but I just like the idea of Generation 6 and up being in sprite form.
Re: Game Freak Isn't Reusing 3DS Models In Pokémon Sword and Shield
@TheBlue10 Some Greninja and Decidueye sprites would be great.
Re: Game Freak Isn't Reusing 3DS Models In Pokémon Sword and Shield
How about we have all the missing Pokemon replaced with 2D sprites rather than 3D models?
It would be jarring style wise but at least they would be there.
Re: Nintendo Switch Lite Officially Revealed, Launches This September
I'm thinking of fastening this to my wall just so I can say I have a "Lite Switch".
Re: Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered Will Be A GameStop Exclusive In The United States

Re: Lineup For Space Invaders: Invincible Collection On Switch Is Revealed
@BulbasaurusRex Yeah, I remembered when I was at work today that the title is "Space Invaders Get Even" and that someone was going to point that out.
I must have had Star Wars on my mind for some reason.
Re: Video: Nintendo's E3 Direct Went From Pedestrian To Perfection
The Direct wasn't bad but just like the last few E3 Directs, it hasn't absolutely wowed me.
I hope next year we have something mind blowing on all sorts of fronts.
Re: Space Invaders: Invincible Collection Is Firing Onto Nintendo Switch
Since the Wii Shop Channel is down, it would be nice to see Space Invaders Strike Back on there as well.
Re: Radiation City Brings The Horror Of Chernobyl To Nintendo Switch Next Week
@BulkSlash I feel you on that one.
Re: Yuzo Koshiro Is Keen To Make Another Shinobi Game
The soundtrack in Revenge Of Shinobi, "Terrible Beat", is amazingly ironic in the sense that it is one of the best boss themes in video game history.
If we got another Shinobi game like The Return Of The Ninja Master with Koshiro on board I would almost be crazy enough to pay double what it's worth.
