I hope this gives Pikmin 4 some much needed spice

So. . .do enemies respawn now?

Personally, the thing I most wanted from a Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition is 60fps. I'm pretty sure the entire Direct was 30fps, so I really hope I'm wrong when I say it REALLY doesn't look any smoother than the Switch 1 version

Am I crazy or did it not look any better?
Was a bit disappointed

Nice, I hadn’t picked this one up yet.

I really need to know what Arlo thinks about this.

Was hoping for Pikmin 5. But of course every franchise first needs to get milked with a “Switch 2 Edition”.

@StarCollector
Huge missed oppurtinity if it's just locked at 30fps. Better be 60 or I'm out.

Didn't really strike me as a particularly worthwhile upgrade. "You can use the microphone you probably forgot was on the console to do nothing and here's a bunch of pointlessly time-gated side missions," feels very easily skipped.

No mouse controls

I am curious on the resolution and fps. I am not a fan of 30 fps. Also is that competitive missions or coop? I miss coop via Pikmin 3.

I haven't played this since it was new, and it's nice to see it finally get an NS2 Edition. I'm not a massive fan of limited-time events in mostly singleplayer games, though.

Mouse mode was made for Pikmin and yet this doesnt seem to have it. Why?

What a disappointment.

Hmph was hoping for a bit more / not too excited about time gated missions. But I’ll give it a whirl regardless. More pikmin 4 is not a bad thing. It’s only been 3 years since it came out. We got some time for 5 which is ok!

I was kinda hoping I misread that Friday Saturday Sunday free to play gacha games nonsense but reading the comments I’m really kind of annoyed now. It was a $60 game and now they’re having paid dlc but I can only play it when they say I can? What kind of total bs nonsense is that?!?!🤬

I’m already dealing with all the Sony “ you don’t own any of your games you just pay for a line for us to let you play them when we feel like it” and now Nintendo does this? Come on man!!

My kid will almost certainly pay for this regardless, not sure how I feel about that leash around my neck though.😝

@StarCollector

That's what I was hoping for, too. They always mention boosted visuals but didn't for this one which worries me. It looks good as is, but the zoomed in nature of Pikmin just screams for enchanced visuals. Fingers crossed they just didn't mention it and it's boosted.

@8bit-Man Nintendo EPD10 makes Pikmin and 2D mario games. Pikmin 4 and Mario Wonder were both released in 2023 so you can probably expect Pikmin 5 in about 1-2 years. I would expect 2028.

It's a "cheaper" upgrade pack though at £7.99

"The Switch 2 Edition it deserves"

It deserves no visual/performance enhancements and mouse control? Brutal, not gonna lie.

@foursider I checked the store page and it says enhanced resolution up to 4K. No mention of improved framerates though unfortunately.

The mention of "up to 4K" makes me think they're using AI upscaling, and I reallly hope I'm wrong because they always upscale from such a low resolution

@StarCollector As long as it isn't the Xenoblade X upscaler life should be fine

Waiting for Pikmin 5...

I think it deserved better... and more.

@rjejr I’m pretty sure the DLC can be played wherever. It just also has “daily run” type stuff on weekends.

@Rice did that ever get fixed?

@ElRoberico No Xenoblade X is still a funny side grade. I hope Xeno 3 gets the treatment it deserves

@Rice so I'd be better sticking with the Switch 1 version?

@ElRoberico yeah handheld boost is the goat

Genuinely terrible Switch 2 Edition. No 60FPS is already inexcusable, and other than that they only announced voice commands and time-gated content THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR. Pikmin 4 deserved better

Again scoring challenges...I did all of them and compeltd Pikmin 4 at 100%. I know it gives a lot of time to play with a gameply we love easily, but every game has a roguelit mode, scoring mode, etc...instead of expansion based on exploration. It's always battle, and limited time events/scoring...

@King_MFW no 60 fps on a switch 2 upgrade is bad i love pikmon 4 one of favourite ever games but im not paying for this upgrade

I still want a sequel to Hey! Pikmin

Time-gated content is ridiculous. I’d play this with my daughter, but don’t have her every weekend, so it’s a NO from me.

Actually, I remember playing the demo of this, and you’d play for a few seconds and then get interrupted by something - it drove me nuts.

I was hoping for graphical enhancements... You know, like what Age of Calamity and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are getting!

Excellent news! I hope it will add co-op play to Dandori Academy in time.
Watching this in 4K it does look to have upgraded visuals. And the Dandori Academy has weekend challenges that you get to play once, but the Dandori Academy DLC otherwise is not limited to weekend events.
A very fun announcement, and combined with the Switch 2 update to Pikmin 3 a few days ago it is a great time for Pikmin. Bingo Battle with online and local wireless play is an amazingly fun breakthrough for Pikmin!

I wanted Pikmin 4 with 60 fps, so I waited for the Switch 2 version. 30 fps is a bad joke, sorry.

I hoped that every Nintendo-published Switch 2 game in the upcoming years will be 60 fps. But Animal Crossing and Pikmin 4 already disappointed, and I‘ve got a very bad feeling about Xenoblade Genesis.

Curious if anyone knows for certain—if I have the Switch 1 Physical and buy the Switch 2 physical, will all of my game data update to the new version? That’s not really an upgrade pack per se…so wasn’t sure if it’d behave the same.

@SteveDaSteve Mouse will be far better for Pikmin 1 and 2

@jkirchgessner07 Works with Kirby Forgotten Land

They should just start calling these 'bend over edition', because ***** me smh
And too many are just lapping up this ***** which is equally tragic!

I can see this upgrade being fun, but it doesn't look like my thing. Was planning to pick this up soon and I think I'll stick with the Switch 1 version and save a few bucks.

@premko1 Ok thanks! Another question, is there a reason to buy the Switch 2 physical. Is the upgrade pack even on the physical game cart?

@LastFootnote But why? Why ONLY have stuff on weekends? And in a full priced game? If they want to have timed stuff, like they really feel they simply must, make the time limit a week. New week, new time limited events. 😁

@rjejr Yeah that’s a valid point.

I guess my perspective is that the $10 for the upgrade pack is for the improved resolution. The rest is just gravy. But then again I really enjoy the dandori challenges.

I do wish they had upped the framerate to 60 though.

It deserved more and I was really hoping for co op mode like they added for Pikmin 3 delude.. co op in Pikmin is next level.

@LastFootnote I know the money is fo4 other stuff, nd my kids will probably pay it b/c he really enjoys getting all the challenges, but he doesn’t play any free to start or gacha stuff so I’m guessing he won’t be thrilled with the weekend thing. But maybe he will, who knows.

I’m planning on playing 3 co-op with my wife. I think that upgrade to the Switch 2 edition is free. No matter that people argue that things have to cost money b/c the devs have to get paid there’s always an example of games having free updates as well. Are those devs getting paid! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unless I’m wrong and it’s not free, gonna go check, brb. 😁

Edit: Apparently not technically a Switch 2 version just some behind the scenes tomfoolery. But at least it’s free. Reason enough to play with my wife, once we finish Split Fiction.

@jkirchgessner07 In Kirby game - yes , upgrade IS on cart ( no need to download anything ) , also cart works with Switch 1 ( no Star world , oc ) as 1.1 version . Metroid Beyond ( S2 ) also works with S1 .

@premko1 Thank you! That’s very helpful

I was hoping for co-op for the main campaign. Pikmin 3 Deluxe is my favourite in the series because of it.
