I can see it now in the next installment of Zelda, built from the ground up exclusively for the Switch, instead of herding goats into the barn you'll milk them!
@AlexOlney Alex, I actually am a medical student and I'll be applying for a surgery residency next year. If you ever find your laparoscopic surgery training device and still want to give it away, please let me know, or at least throw my name into the hat. I'm assuming it comes with the software as well? Let me know! Thanks!
@rjejr "... and then he whips out the first ever footage of Zelda on Switch"
Not to troll you but I just thought I'd point out that the first ever footage of Zelda on Switch was in the Switch reveal video, which also happens to be included in this article. First live footage, I suppose but I get your point.
Do these work in Hyrule Warriors? If so, what do they do? In other words, do all the Link variations give the same weapon for the same Link or do they give weapons for separate Links, etc?
"one person wrote a negative review and NOA didn't do anything to stop or change the review, so others followed suit. So I don't really believe that the reviews were credible."
Sooo, reviews are only credible if Nintendo stops them from happening or changes them? Makes sense
I'm intrigued, but also a little worried, by the Switch. I've owned every home console Nintendo's ever made and exactly zero of their portables. I'm just not much of a portable gamer because if I was, I'd never get anything done. Although, I have been known to plug my Wii U into an armrest on the airplane. I'm all for adding the portable capability as long as my home experience doesn't suffer greatly because of it.
I need to know about internal storage for downloaded games, (hopefully at least 500 gb), touchscreen, (would love to see Hearthstone on NS), OS and background apps like instant messaging, (plus, I need to be able to run my deck tracker for Hearthstone), and local multiplayer. That last one is a big concern of mine. Do we really need 2 consoles to play local 4-player games? Will I be able to play 8-player Smash in my living room with just one console? Does it support any of the controllers that I already have?
I will undoubtedly get a Switch. I just hope it meets my expectations for a home gaming experience. The 3rd party support was probably what excited me most from the trailer. Hopefully the 3rd parties stick around this time.
I can't wait to read an article that doesn't contain the phrase "take this with a grain of salt". Does this really have to be said in every article? Is there no other phrase that can be used, like, "this may be total bs but this is what we heard..."?
More important for the NX generation than either of these options is announcing what the thing actually is... and soon. Or, at least tell us when you're going to announce it. Let's go Nintendo.
There's no reason why they couldn't have told us by now when they plan to unveil it. If they told us in July that they were going to show it in a Nintendo Direct in November, much of the aggravation in comment sections like this one could have easily in been prevented. I simply don't understand their complete silence. Hopefully, it will make sense when they do finally make an announcement.
Leaving the cartridge slot permanently closed was a smart idea. Now you won't have to blow in it to get the games to work!
@Kirk The whole design is based on people's nostalgia for the old console. A box like what you showed for the Vita makes sense for that machine because that nostalgia element isn't there.... duh.
If he wanted us to be able to go inside a computer to see how it works, he should have built a shrink ray. Putting LEDs on 60-year-old technology just seems pointless to me. Personally, I find my smartphone to be much "prettier" than this hulking monstrosity. To make matters worse, this guy literally might be the worst tetris player in the world.
@ThomasBW84 Even though the majority of these games are for the 3DS, I feel like you should at least mention the system(s) each game is releasing on either in the picture's caption or in the blurb. Many people may not know if a particular game is coming out for 3DS, Wii U, or both. Just my two cents...
Why did Link go flying when he killed Steppe Talus at the end of the video? That was weird. Anyways, glad to see the flying magnet trick works. You just need to balance it out better. Obviously, standing at the end of a platform like that is going to make it tip over, because torque.
Some of the fire effects in this video look like they came straight out of Doom from the 1990's. Like when barrels explode or when the fire comes out of the background to destroy part of the stage, like at the 2:30 mark. What a mess...
@smashbrolink In one of the E3 segments, Trinen said you could do it by stacking two metal objects and then lifting the one on bottom with magnesis. They didn't show it though, so I'd like to see NL either confirm or debunk it.
Kill a guardian, fight the old man, fly around like Magneto, fly on a stasis-charged object, find all the Koroks, tour the edges of the plateau, jump off the plateau.
@RoomB31 I agree. One of the drawbacks of the Wii family of consoles is their OS and the lack of integrated apps for the system, relatively speaking, when compared to their competitors. Sony and Microsoft are both technology companies and the other branches of their companies are able to contribute to their console devices. Nintendo being, for the most part, just a gaming company has struggled with some of these things and, presumably, other things behind the curtain like online infrastructure. If Nintendo had pulled the trigger, we'd still be getting (un-nerfed) Rare games, we'd probably have DVD and/or Blu ray capability, integrated voice chat, better online systems, Twitch support/integrated video capture, etc. I wonder what the actual pitch was and what the exact reasons Nintendo had for saying no. Couldn't have been that great of an offer if Sony turned them down too.
@Alobeidt I'm still not buying the "hybrid" theory for NX as Nintendo hasn't substantiated any of it. It's all just rumor. I'm inclined to believe it's "just" a home console, which is fine by me. Time will tell. Regardless, I would welcome a MH on NX next year with open arms!
As much as I'd love to see Yacht Club make a Zelda or Metroid-style game, we've got BotW coming up and Axiom Verge is headed to the Wii U soon. So, what type of game are we really missing in our Wii U libaries? Super Mario RPG!! (I'll take a Final Fantasy too, please.)
@Angelic_Lapras_King Which is BS. I would love to play all the campaign/mission stuff on the Wii U. Nothing on earth could get me to pay for this game twice... it's just too much content to repeat. It would be more feasible if there was a cross-buy/cross-save feature like what Hearthstone does.
I think it's funny how we blast developers like Ubisoft and WB for shipping ports of games to the Wii U without all of the DLC and now Koei Tecmo is doing it with this game that's licensing a Nintendo franchise! WHY would you bring Marin to the Wii U version and NOT have the Koholint map available as well?!? This game takes too many hours for me to just say "yeah, I think I'll buy a 3DS with this game and start over." Please bring all content to the Wii U!
Played Tri on the Wii and loved it, but didn't see the need to buy the upgraded version for the WiiU. I don't own a 3DS and I'm tired of seeing new MH games released only on handhelds. Wake me up when this franchise returns to home consoles.
@Kirk By the way, the articles in this 3-part series are described as "first impressions" or "reactions" to the game. In other words, they are opinion pieces. Professional publications run Op-Ed pieces all the time. It's their job to be objective when writing a formal review, but they are free to write whatever they feel like in an opinion piece. If you don't like to read other people's opinions, which you clearly don't, don't read the article... or better yet, move on to another site.
@Kirk LOL this is great! These are your words! Don't backtrack or shy away from them! You should be proud of your hypocrisy.
"There's countless open-world games on the last-gen Xbox 360 and PS3 that are likely more polished and easily as graphically accomplished as Breath of the Wild; Skyrim, Just Cause 2, Read Dead Redemption, Far Cry 3, and Metal Gear Solid 5, to name just a few."
But seriously, your nonsensical, hypocritical rantings are hilarious! I can't stop laughing at you! Keep 'em coming!
@Kirk lol your delusional rants are making me laugh like I haven't laughed in a long time. Especially that part when you mentioned "polish" and Skyrim in the same sentence. Also when you threw down a list of games more "beautiful" than BotW that included Cuphead and Ni No Kuni. LMAO. Please continue... laughing is good for my soul.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Man, I loved Skyward Sword. It's not my favorite game in the series but I still thought it was fantastic. It's ok to have different opinions but I'd hardly call it, "The only blip on an otherwise impeccable series." That just makes it sound like it was widely disliked. Maybe it is to you, but with a Metacritic score of 93, including a perfect score from this website and many others, I'd say your opinion is in the minority. Regardless, I do expect today's reveal to be amazing and the game itself to be much, much better than its predecessors. I can't wait!
@MitchVogel I've actually never played either of these games. I was just commenting on the mashup of the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest names that they used for the title.
@WebHead More like misinterpretation. Nintendo said Zelda would be the only playable game at E3. The internet somehow removed the word "playable" from the original statement and went nuts. Of course, Nintendo could have done themselves a favor and said something sooner.
I haven't played all the Mega Man games, but I have played a lot of them. In which game is he "a normal, upbeat, schoolboy robot"? I mean, I don't recall a Mega Man game where he goes to school. Why does a robot need to go to school in the first place?
"The best thing about Mega Man is his unflinching wide-eyed optimism and an over-the-top sense of humor." Uh.... wut?? The best thing about Mega Man is the difficult, super-tight platformng, challenging bosses, and weapon upgrades that give you a sense of accomplishment when you finally beat it. I don't recall Mega Man ever having any sense of humor, let alone an over-the-top one.
I get it that it's a kid's show but this just seems like a disaster to me. There's already a story line in place that they could build from. Mega Man was created by Dr. Light to battle Dr. Wily and prevent his robots from taking over the world... NOT to go to school!
@rjejr I think they were trying to provide a range where they can expect their results to end up once the NX launches. In other words, they expect to apply their profit share to a number falling somewhere between $2.7 to $7.5 billion. As it says in the article, it's not a prediction - they don't know enough to make hard predictions - it's just to illustrate what the potential might be.
