Re: Tomonobu Itagaki on Why Devil's Third Underperformed

DoctorWily

"one person wrote a negative review and NOA didn't do anything to stop or change the review, so others followed suit. So I don't really believe that the reviews were credible."

Sooo, reviews are only credible if Nintendo stops them from happening or changes them? Makes sense

Re: Reaction: Our Early Thoughts on the Nintendo Switch

DoctorWily

I'm intrigued, but also a little worried, by the Switch. I've owned every home console Nintendo's ever made and exactly zero of their portables. I'm just not much of a portable gamer because if I was, I'd never get anything done. Although, I have been known to plug my Wii U into an armrest on the airplane. I'm all for adding the portable capability as long as my home experience doesn't suffer greatly because of it.

I need to know about internal storage for downloaded games, (hopefully at least 500 gb), touchscreen, (would love to see Hearthstone on NS), OS and background apps like instant messaging, (plus, I need to be able to run my deck tracker for Hearthstone), and local multiplayer. That last one is a big concern of mine. Do we really need 2 consoles to play local 4-player games? Will I be able to play 8-player Smash in my living room with just one console? Does it support any of the controllers that I already have?

I will undoubtedly get a Switch. I just hope it meets my expectations for a home gaming experience. The 3rd party support was probably what excited me most from the trailer. Hopefully the 3rd parties stick around this time.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has No Set Formula for Hardware Reveals, But NX is Testing Fans' Patience

DoctorWily

There's no reason why they couldn't have told us by now when they plan to unveil it. If they told us in July that they were going to show it in a Nintendo Direct in November, much of the aggravation in comment sections like this one could have easily in been prevented. I simply don't understand their complete silence. Hopefully, it will make sense when they do finally make an announcement.

Re: Xbox Co-Creator Confirms That Microsoft Discussed a Partnership With Nintendo

DoctorWily

@RoomB31 I agree. One of the drawbacks of the Wii family of consoles is their OS and the lack of integrated apps for the system, relatively speaking, when compared to their competitors. Sony and Microsoft are both technology companies and the other branches of their companies are able to contribute to their console devices. Nintendo being, for the most part, just a gaming company has struggled with some of these things and, presumably, other things behind the curtain like online infrastructure. If Nintendo had pulled the trigger, we'd still be getting (un-nerfed) Rare games, we'd probably have DVD and/or Blu ray capability, integrated voice chat, better online systems, Twitch support/integrated video capture, etc. I wonder what the actual pitch was and what the exact reasons Nintendo had for saying no. Couldn't have been that great of an offer if Sony turned them down too.

Re: Let Yacht Club Games Know What Game You'd Like Next

DoctorWily

As much as I'd love to see Yacht Club make a Zelda or Metroid-style game, we've got BotW coming up and Axiom Verge is headed to the Wii U soon. So, what type of game are we really missing in our Wii U libaries? Super Mario RPG!! (I'll take a Final Fantasy too, please.)

Re: Video: Take a Look at the Hyrule Warriors Legends Link's Awakening DLC, Due On 30th June

DoctorWily

I think it's funny how we blast developers like Ubisoft and WB for shipping ports of games to the Wii U without all of the DLC and now Koei Tecmo is doing it with this game that's licensing a Nintendo franchise! WHY would you bring Marin to the Wii U version and NOT have the Koholint map available as well?!? This game takes too many hours for me to just say "yeah, I think I'll buy a 3DS with this game and start over." Please bring all content to the Wii U!

Re: Hands On: Embracing Freedom in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

DoctorWily

@Kirk By the way, the articles in this 3-part series are described as "first impressions" or "reactions" to the game. In other words, they are opinion pieces. Professional publications run Op-Ed pieces all the time. It's their job to be objective when writing a formal review, but they are free to write whatever they feel like in an opinion piece. If you don't like to read other people's opinions, which you clearly don't, don't read the article... or better yet, move on to another site.

Re: Hands On: Embracing Freedom in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

DoctorWily

@Kirk LOL this is great! These are your words! Don't backtrack or shy away from them! You should be proud of your hypocrisy.

"There's countless open-world games on the last-gen Xbox 360 and PS3 that are likely more polished and easily as graphically accomplished as Breath of the Wild; Skyrim, Just Cause 2, Read Dead Redemption, Far Cry 3, and Metal Gear Solid 5, to name just a few."

But seriously, your nonsensical, hypocritical rantings are hilarious! I can't stop laughing at you! Keep 'em coming!

Re: Hands On: Embracing Freedom in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

DoctorWily

@Kirk lol your delusional rants are making me laugh like I haven't laughed in a long time. Especially that part when you mentioned "polish" and Skyrim in the same sentence. Also when you threw down a list of games more "beautiful" than BotW that included Cuphead and Ni No Kuni. LMAO. Please continue... laughing is good for my soul.

Re: Talking Point: Our Hopes For Nintendo's E3 2016 Legend of Zelda (and Pokémon) Bonanza

DoctorWily

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Man, I loved Skyward Sword. It's not my favorite game in the series but I still thought it was fantastic. It's ok to have different opinions but I'd hardly call it, "The only blip on an otherwise impeccable series." That just makes it sound like it was widely disliked. Maybe it is to you, but with a Metacritic score of 93, including a perfect score from this website and many others, I'd say your opinion is in the minority. Regardless, I do expect today's reveal to be amazing and the game itself to be much, much better than its predecessors. I can't wait!

Re: Next Year's Mega Man Cartoon Looks Certain To Maintain Proud Tradition Of Annoying Fans

DoctorWily

I haven't played all the Mega Man games, but I have played a lot of them. In which game is he "a normal, upbeat, schoolboy robot"? I mean, I don't recall a Mega Man game where he goes to school. Why does a robot need to go to school in the first place?

"The best thing about Mega Man is his unflinching wide-eyed optimism and an over-the-top sense of humor." Uh.... wut?? The best thing about Mega Man is the difficult, super-tight platformng, challenging bosses, and weapon upgrades that give you a sense of accomplishment when you finally beat it. I don't recall Mega Man ever having any sense of humor, let alone an over-the-top one.

I get it that it's a kid's show but this just seems like a disaster to me. There's already a story line in place that they could build from. Mega Man was created by Dr. Light to battle Dr. Wily and prevent his robots from taking over the world... NOT to go to school!

Re: US Retailer GameStop Hoping That Nintendo NX Can Arrest Decline In Hardware Sales

DoctorWily

@rjejr I think they were trying to provide a range where they can expect their results to end up once the NX launches. If it does slightly better than the Wii U, here are the numbers that are the basement. If it does only half as well as the Wii, here are the numbers that are the ceiling. In other words, they expect to apply their profit share to a number falling somewhere between $2.7 to $7.5 billion. As it says in the article, it's not a prediction - they don't know enough to make hard predictions - it's just to illustrate what the potential might be.
