The response from our wonderful US team to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been outstanding, but now it's the turn of the home-grown UK team to get our mitts on the game, and we want to bring you along for the ride.
We've been invited to demo this incredibly promising foray in the Zelda series, and considering how few of you have actually played it, we want you to suggest things for us to do in our time with the game so we can record it in a video and show you what happens.
If you're curious about a certain shrine, have a hankering to climb the tallest peak, or just want a comprehensive understanding of what is and isn't flammable, we want you to leave your suggestions in the comments below. We'll pick our favourites and try and perform as many as possible, but obviously we can't do everything. Please understand.
As a little bonus you can repeat the experience of reading this article plus a special little surprise by watching the video below, but honestly if you don't watch it you're not really missing anything.

Kill the Golem boss
Try to see what happens when you reach the edge of the demo map.
Climb the tallest mountain; shield-surf down, ride over an edge and glide down to safety. That or experiment in using the environment during combatl
Raid a camp in secret find a hill blow it up, set the bokoblins on fire when they come looking for where the explosion came from
Defeat a guardian.
Fire arrows while shield-surfing.
Just roll into a tree with a beehive on it and run like crazy!
So during our E3 demo, my Nintendo rep called someone else over to watch my screen. Apparently I was the only person they had seen that day who forwent the narrative and climbed to the tip top of The Temple of Time instead.
And yes, something special does happen when you do that
Launch some animals with the catapult.
Why you ask? It'll be funny as hell.
Monty Python style.
Or go straight to the end boss and get slaughtered.
Find those ducks.
No pants
Check to see if any cool Easter Eggs happen when Link stands still for an hour.
Thy this, please:
http://iruntheinternet.com/lulzdump/images/zelda-cartoon-link-bomb-jump-bomb-shield-jump-14303882890.gif
Go straight to Calamity Ganon and fight him right away; I've heard that this is possible.
Demand to play the NX version.
These next 2 are really important so please consider testing them:
1. Get the Stasis rune and leave the Shrine you found it in. Find a boulder in the overworld, charge it with kinetic energy and then grab it to see if Link goes flying with it.
2. Set a bomb, shield surf over it and detonate it at just the right moment to see if Link gets a boost or just gets knocked down.
Then please, please, do climb the top of the Temple of time and see what happens, as @Pandaman described it!
@Oragami Yeah but not in the demo, only in the full game.
@A01 shield surfing on water already done, he just keeps surfing into the water as it rises over him xD
@shani https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52UaLUUnpe4 at 41 min mark.
Try to see if there are any random secret caves to discover like there were in the first LoZ. Burnt bush/inconspicuous wall section=secret entrance
It was the only Nintendo game at E3 worth looking at .... Collect meds , make friends , solve puzzles.
@RennanNT I second this.
@Garo Yes I want also this !
But for 2) Polygon tried but while shieldsurfing you can't detonate.
So maybe try to shieldsurf when the bomb will detonate (if there is any time limit on the detonation) or pretty hard to do shield jump over the bomb and shoot an arrow on it to detonate.
But the flying with the stasis boulder is the ONE thing to do !
@SLIGEACH_EIRE OMG this was so cool! I can't wait to try that! You'll never stop us, stamina bar!
Try finding that Island in the sky. You can see from the top of the Temple of Time.
Go down the waterfall with the raft
@Garo @HeroponRiki @HeCaster101 Seconding these three.
Go to the shrine that gives you the magnesis rune, activate it on the sheika slate! Then go outside, find 2 pieces of metal, criss cross them, stand on the intersecting point of the top piece of metal and use magnesis to lift the bottom piece! See what happens......
@RennanNT Thanks! At first I was underwhelmed when our little friend appeared, but then I saw that moving thing in the sky.
BTW I tried describing those two things without spoiling anything. ^^
@shani Oh yeah I forgot
Can the HUD be turned off? Surely not for a demo, but zi really really hope you can turn off the GPS mini map.
I truly want to get lost. Heck, I might draw my own map on paper.
1- Try circling around the demo area. It's really big and I feel like we haven't seen everything yet.
2- If you can, show us everything you can actually do with the Wii U Gamepad. It seems to be underused (because of the NX version?) and I would like to know more.
3- Collect Ruppies !!
4- See if you can do anything else with the old man once you've advanced a bit more (new dialogue?...). In the worst case scenario, just throw apples at him. Totally worth it.
There's a treasure trove on the right side of the waterfall in the ice area, that gives you some apples, a spiked boko bow, and the most powerful weapon in the demo, the soldier's broadsword! That should be enough to take on steppe talus (make sure you equip your clothes for armour!)
(02:39) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbimOto0OlM
I want to find easter eggs, no help, hope they reference all the old games!
BURN EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND. (Sorry, there's been a lot of fires where I live, so I have fiery destruction on the mind.)
Bake a cake and try to pet Wolf Link.
See how close you can get to Hyrule Castle
Oh nvm, for those wondering STEPPE TALUS HAS BEEN DEFEATED:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA7ztpWHeKo
No harm in trying the challenge tho, the key is blowing his arms, then blowing him up to stun him
I've seen a lot of footage.
I'd like to know how big a tree you can chop down.
Everyone has successfully taken down the slimmer trees, but no one has tried to take down those HUGE trees you can find in the forest.
I understand you may not be able to take them down but who knows? I'm very curious about the visual feedback.
I'm curious to see what the scale of the environment is like, in real time. ^_^ I know it's only a demo but I'm sure they packed a lot into it!
Metal Zelda Solid: Link Eater style.
Naked Link is the only way to go.
@Garo for your #2 I bet Link just gets knocked down. That seems like the Zelda approach to that scenario.
Jump off a cliff riding a horse while firing flaming arrows to ignite the ground below. How to get a horse up a cliff?Catapult it.
Try hacking the demo console and transfer the game to your laptop.
go jump off a huge cliff i wanna see if u can take damage from jumping or if it uses the same as xcx where u can't take damage.
Climb to the top of the tallest peak in the area, leap off and glide until your stamina runs out then fall to your death (if it is enough to kill him).
@Tsurii There's already a video of a guy taking down the Steppe Talus. It's nothing special: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA7ztpWHeKo
So, if you have some time left, maybe mark some distant locations and view them on the map, would give us a neat perspective of what's actually where in the game, and while you're at it; maybe give us a better look at that thing that's crawling around Death Mountain.
@Pandaman Could you give us a hint on what happens
Go shirtless as long as possible.
Play as a vegetarian--you can only regain health by eating non-meat items!
Scale the Temple of Time shirtless.
test out as many random weps as possible
Try to find out who the old man is. Or try to anger/kill him. (might even result in a sort of an OoT "angry chicken" effect)
Try to find clues if this is indeed the bottom of the sea that has risen once again long after the events taking place in the Wind Waker. (salt on the rocks does hint to that)
Try squashing a Bokoblin with one of the huge iron slabs, and/or try using it as a shield against their weapons.
And since shield surfing on water doesn't work by itself, try and do it by alternating it with paragliding to stay afloat.
Dump the demo's ROM.
@HeCaster101 We already know what happens when you do that; it's literally a death trap. You can't jump off the plateau without the Paraglider, and you can't get that in the demo. It was only available in the Treehouse showing.XD
@edgedino No need; there are plenty of video showcasing death-by-falling.^_-
Beat my 'Vegetarian, no pants, tree-branch-only run' record! (The record is 20 minutes and 1 confused booth attendant)
Zoom out completely on the overworld map and take a screenshot!
@Oragami It is, but not in the demo, because you have to have the paraglider to get off the plateau, meaning the first 4 main shrines are a requirement as far as we know.
Use Stasis on a boulder, smack it a few times with an axe or the sledgehammer you find in the Stasis Shrine, then climb atop it before it launches to see if you go flying away with it.
That could be the most epic way of traveling EVER!
Don't spoil anything. Nothing.
I just wanna run around and hunt with my wolf pal. Make a life for myself in the wild. Maybe liberate a town taken over and oppressed by moblins!
All pants- and shirtless of course!
Try to use stasis lock on living things. Bokoblins, warthogs, birds... Try other moving things in nature too, like a stream or a fire.
Show off some cool stealth mechanics and sneakily take down a camp
Make as many stamina elixirs as possible with bokoblin horns, restless crickets, and stamella shrooms. Then start to climb down the side of the plateau facing Hyrule Castle, continuously taking the elixirs to keep your stamina up on the way down to see how far down you can make it. I'm curious if it'll still be to far to fall safely or if there will be something else to stop you from reaching the ground or would it break the demo?
@ThanosReXXX in the original LoZ for the NES if you attacked the hermit hanging out in the first wood dungeon the vases in the room would start hurling fireballs at you. Your comment reminded me of that and I too was wondering if he would indeed attack you if provoked like in the very first game since BotW is being compared to that one so much.
See if you fly using magnesis and a combination of the large flat metal boards. Maybe in a cross shaped configuration.
Can link do the roll in this? See what happens when you do a roll with that massive claimore sword. Does it mess the animation up/clip through the environment?
Make some rude and amusing shapes out of chopped trees and boulders.
@Ed_Fairway https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52UaLUUnpe4 at 41 min mark.
Here's my suggestions:
1) Use the stasis rune in an object, strike it to build some energy and, before the object is released, climb it. I wonder if it is possible to fly on top of one of those launched rocks.
2) Use the magnesis rune to put two metal plates crossed. Then get on the upper plate and use the magnesis to uplift the under plate. According to Bill Trinen, it would make you float arround.
Just do that. Do nothing but that.
Since this video is probably gonna be handled by Alex, I just want him to sneak inside a Bokoblin camp undetected, appear in front of them while shouting "HELLO THERE LOVELY PEOPLE" and blow it all up. Please do this, it's gonna be glorious.
Especially if you embed your menacing face in a corner of the video during the process.
On a side note, whether or not you do what I asked, I think it might be a good idea to embed your faces, so we can see your genuine reactions to the mess you're making in the game and get even more hyped.
@WarlockNem That would be a nice touch indeed. The reason why I came up with this in the first place is because in the demo, you see him almost getting hit by Link's burning tree branch a few times, and the second time he seems to react more annoyed.
@Dakt Good one. Wouldn't mind to see what would happen myself either, if they would do that.
@NintendoFan64 That's a funny picture.
I'd like you to look inside the Temple of Time for just a bit after starting the game.
@NintendoFan64 My favorite BotW gif !
Let him jump from the highest mountain and kill himself while in first-person view
Please try and get as many enemies as you can on-screen and ask if framerate hitches are going to be ironed out or whether the game engine is in its final form as it is Thank you
Kill a guardian, fight the old man, fly around like Magneto, fly on a stasis-charged object, find all the Koroks, tour the edges of the plateau, jump off the plateau.
shoot a regular arrow through a fire pit, or if possible, through a set down, lit torch? it'd be nice to set up fire arrows like that.
I second what @allav866 , @any13th and @Octane suggested!
I'd like to see the insides of the Temple of Time and have a good look with the binoculars at both the flying "island" and the thing crawling along the Death Mountain.
Can you show us as many biomes as possible that are in the demo? Eg. Plains, Mountains, Tundra, Desert, etcetera?
@devilwaffle Not sure if it can catch fire mid flight, but while you have an arrow drawn you can walk up to a fire and light it.
@TheFlyingGerbil There's no rolling, sorry. Dashing from Skyward Sword is back.
@xPH03N1Xx86 I think the other areas, besides a few low snow-covered areas, are all outside of the plateau area, meaning they can't be reached in the demo.
@DoctorWily I don't think you can use magnesis to lift anything you're standing on. I saw someone try something similar in a Youtube video a while back, IIRC.
See if you can control Wolf Link with some kind of basic command, or test his AI throwing him in the middle of a Bokoblin camp!
Plus, try to get to another landmark outside the Plains, maybe Death Mountain or Hyrule Castle if you can.
Im good with whatever you decide to do, but MAN do people have some awesome ideas.
And MAN IS THERE A LOAD TO DO!
I want this.
Throw a Wooden stick to see if wolf link will fetch it.
Try to use the magnet to defeat enemies
See how many times you can call Link "Zelda" before the Nintendo rep asks you to leave.
No pants, obv...
@zipmon Gotta rack up those confused booth attendants!
Do another cooking show. That NX one was the best!
Climb what ever you can and figure out what materials can't be climbed
Make Link beat up enemies with their own limbs. No usual actual weapons, just skill and enemy limbs.
@smashbrolink In one of the E3 segments, Trinen said you could do it by stacking two metal objects and then lifting the one on bottom with magnesis. They didn't show it though, so I'd like to see NL either confirm or debunk it.
Eat a Bokoblin....alive
http://img02.deviantart.net/1e93/i/2016/179/8/3/link_breath_of_the_wild_by_link012-da80gro.jpg
Obsessed with this art style
https://youtu.be/Z-Q2qA1FfPM
Skydive, obviously.
@DoctorWily Ohhhh, okay, that WOULD work, because it only denies you the ability to do so on stuff you're standing on directly.
Clever!
@Major_spinner Apparently, the only materials that can't be climbed, generally, are super-smooth surfaces, which are most prominent in the walls of the Shrine puzzle areas.
@Luna_110 Those are both outside of the plateau, and the demo only allows journeying within that area due to no paraglider.
@smashbrolink Thanks, I missed that part of the stream
It wouldn't not be cool to get a demo 👍
Do that to every Stal Bokoblin you encounter :
https://youtu.be/-Hu5aktbq2E?t=76
Jump from the tallest mountain, glide for a while, then try dropping and shield surfing the rest of the way. =)
@Pandaman Please, do what Pandaman said!
Put the England football team in the Temple of Time and blow the crap out of it............
Convince them to release the demo in the eShop as a gift for being loyal fans of Nintendo and Wii U
But more seriously, try to talk more with the old man.
Try to defeat the Golem that one punched that dude from Trrehouse.
Get the Paraglider and try to go outside of the Great Plateau.
One time the Trrehouse guy used bomb near Temple of Time and find a secret inside. Try to find more of it!.
I think that's all folks ;-]
I wonder what is the best loot that can be found in the demo.
Also are there any shops in the demo area?
Go to a town with no pants and talk with people.
Make an animal pen out of logs, with seesaw catapults around the edge, herd animals into it and lock them in.slowly squeeze it in until the animals are all on top of the launching end of the seesaws. get the stasis boulders set up for launch. Set the animals inside on fire, wait until a good blaze gets going, and LAUNCH!
So ProJared pointed out this floating sort of UFO thing. I have a feeling you won't be able to find out what it is in the demo, but could you try to zoom in on it with the Sheika slate? Here's the video where he pointed it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcY-IMkdKV0
Also if you can find a horse I'd like to know how that would work. Hopefully no stamina gauge, or at least a longer one for the horse. And could you see how close you can get to the castle with Calamity Ganon surrounding it? And please give us TONS of game play, even if it's just Alex terrorizing Bokoblins with no pants on.
Also, could you do a live stream event? That way we could comment live!
Explore the ruins near the temple of time and the temple itself. Check to see if you can find any remains of castle town from Ocarina of Time.
Try to make a ice-pillar on the waterfalls-surface. Will it float down? Can you use it as a stepping stone to climb the waterfall?
What happens if you launch a chest into the abyss (And I mean a real abyss, if there's one. Otherwise it just bounces of the mountain). Is it gone forever? You could try this with a catapult or bomb!
Can you smash a metal-box on the ground (or a rock)? So far I only saw Chico lifting one up with Magnesis, and then she let it fall to the ground.
Rip the demo and upload it to the interwebs ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
