Completely forgot to mention last week that My Aquarium (...) became the 3rd game to remain charted for a full year without interruptions. Good for it... Moving on to this week week 3-2-1 Rattle Battle! became the 6th game to fail to chart (yawn). And to our friends over at Gaijin Games, I wouldn't worry about BTC not being able to perform as well as BTB in the first week. There's a new algorithm for calculating the "Popular Titles" (my going theory is that the last 14 days are counted although I'm not positive), it'll climb plenty in it's second week, just look at Family Slot Car Racing. However, concerning it being able to repeat BTB's first place performance... Well, that's more questionable. Monkey Island is a rather powerful force here in Sweden...
I had no idea this was coming to WiiWare. I've seen it before, it always looked really neat. Looks like the second half of this year will be just jampacked with awesome all the time.

Well, it's interesting and a surprise and everything that Super Star Wars was released... But I don't get this excitement here really, has everyone completely forgot that the game actually is kinda rubbish? Or are people just all hot and bothered about it just cause it's Star Wars or something?
@LEGEND MARIOID No, as far as I can tell it was made by a Japanese company called Vitei. Before this they've created one Japan exclusive game for the DS called Theta which I know nothing about so I can't say anything about how their track record is.
@edofthe209 Actually, I do say that every game should be review equally regardless of price cause prices fluctuate, the games don't. If a $8 game doesn't hold up to a $60 game, the review and grade should reflect that regardless of the initial price. It's then up to the consumer to decide for himself whether the lesser price is worth buying a inferior game. However, I know that doesn't happen which basically means that pretty much any single review is completely useless after a year since. Personally, when deciding which games I buy I choose the games exclusively on the merits of the game itself... I would never buy a WiiWare game "just cause it's so cheap".
@eripmav: Might not be a big amount of comfort but Three Musketeers actually made it into the local charts yesterday and should at this rate rank somewhere around 12-16 place when next week's chart comes around. And then... Who knows how long it'll stick around for...
@43 Not to speak ill of LostWinds, I liked that game well enough, but it's leagues below NyxQuest. Where as LostWinds was a collection of good ideas, NyxQuest is a collection of good ideas done right.
This isn't communism, you have to make an effort people care about to be rewarded, not just any effort.
Considering all the crap that does well on the chart on regular basis it's just sad when an actual game is ignored. But since nothing else in life is, why would WiiWare sales be fair.
And now the chart is the best it's ever been ... Consistency at its finest!
Swedish top 20: (-) 1 - Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (1) 2 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Darklord (2) 3 - World Of Goo (-) 4 - Driift Mania (4) 5 - Gradius Rebirth (9) 6 - My Aquarium (5) 7 - Fun! Fun! Minigolf (6) 8 - Texas Hold'em Tournament (3) 9 - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (7) 10 - Mega Man 9 (11) 11 - Tetris Party (12) 12 - Onslaught (8) 13 - Icarian: Kindred Spirits (13) 14 - Swords & Soldiers (20) 15 - Heracles: Chariot Racing (10) 16 - Bubble Bobble Plus! (14) 17 - Snowboard Riot (16) 18 - Bomberman Blast (15) 19 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King* (17) 20 - My Pokémon Ranch*
ColorZ didn't make it in this week either. I do feel kinda bad for it cause while it's not a game I'd ever consider playing there does seem to be a genuine game in there. They've made a decent effort and should be rewarded for it. Things aren't always fair I guess. It's now the 5th game to never chart. The Three Musketeers didn't chart either, but that's in its first week. Not really surprising either since the PC version was a free pack-in with pan pizza (yes, you read that right) for a while back in 06... I'm guessing many in Sweden have already played the game... I'm sure it'll do better elsewhere...
@Rexon Ok, but those 3 hours (more like 4½ for me but whatever) is worth more than 150 hours of Baldur's Gate or a lifetime of Guitar Hero, which for the record costs about like the same as 12 copies of Kindred Spirits... I'm just saying... Besides, are you telling me you've never payed $50 for a 15 hours game? I'm pretty sure you have...
If "they're" able to fit Super Mario 64 on 8MB and Ocarina of Time on 32MB... Then I can rather easily imagine them fitting this on 40... I'm sure they're saving lots of space on only having one arena.
And today it was late instead... No real pattern to when during the day this thing is released eh? Ohwell...
Swedish top 20: (1) 1 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Darklord (2) 2 - World Of Goo (4) 3 - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (3) 4 - Gradius Rebirth (5) 5 - Fun! Fun! Minigolf (8) 6 - Texas Hold'em Tournament (10) 7 - Mega Man 9 (9) 8 - Icarian: Kindred Spirits (18) 9 - My Aquarium (6) 10 - Bubble Bobble Plus! (17) 11 - Tetris Party (15) 12 - Onslaught (13) 13 - Swords & Soldiers (14) 14 - Snowboard Riot (20) 15 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King* (19) 16 - Bomberman Blast (R) 17 - My Pokémon Ranch* (7) 18 - Water Warfare (16) 19 - Puzzle Bobble Plus! (-) 20 - Heracles: Chariot Racing
Didn't someone say something about how Gradius probably wouldn't do too well on the charts in the long run? Yeah... Four weeks in and it's 4th... Won't rival MM9's run of course it's doing well enough. I'm a little bit surprised though that ColorZ didn't make it to the chart yet and that Heracles just managed 20th place... I guess it just came too late, people has already bought Mario Kart.
I remember when I jotted down the top 20 earlier today and noticed 5 Spots in 12 that I though "damn, we're no better than the Dutch now"... Well, I guess you saved us.
The Swedish top 20: (-) 1 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Darklord (4) 2 - World Of Goo (1) 3 - Gradius Rebirth (6) 4 - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (9) 5 - Fun! Fun! Minigolf (11) 6 - Bubble Bobble Plus! (2) 7 - Water Warfare (10) 8 - Texas Hold'em Tournament (3) 9 - Icarian: Kindred Spirits (8) 10 - Mega Man 9 (5) 11 - Bit Boy!! (-) 12 - 5 Spots Party (7) 13 - Swords & Soldiers (18) 14 - Snowboard Riot (13) 15 - Onslaught (12) 16 - Puzzle Bobble Plus! (17) 17 - Tetris Party (16) 18 - My Aquarium (15) 19 - Bomberman Blast (R) 20 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King*
Interesting is that from a position out of the chart a few weeks ago, Fun! Fun! Minigolf has climbed all the way up to 5th place... And the thing the makes it interesting is the fact that the weather since then has turned from a warm and sunny weather with almost Mediterranean temperatures to weeks of heavy rain and general crappy weather. Guess no one wanted to play actual real minigolf anymore ever since things got a bit more humid. And also, my theory about Nintendo using a different calculation these days to base the chart on is further strengthened. Still no second week drops, aswell as that hilarious 5 places climb of 5 Spots in the Netherlands, is further evidence. And finally, Karate Phants is the fourth game to not chart on a chart day in Sweden (following Strong Bad 5, Lonpos and Penguins & Friends). And if reviews are anything to go by, it's well deserved.
@Bahamut ZERO: I wouldn't worry quite yet... It's in 7th... Last year in mid August FFCC dropped to 7th for the first time... And the damn thing is still charting! So yeah, 7th place does not mark the inevitable end of WoG...
Swedish top 20: (2) 1 - Gradius Rebirth (3) 2 - Water Warfare (1) 3 - Icarian: Kindred Spirits (4) 4 - World Of Goo (10) 5 - Bit Boy!! (8) 6 - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (7) 7 - Swords & Soldiers (6) 8 - Mega Man 9 (15) 9 - Fun! Fun! Minigolf (9) 10 - Texas Hold'em Tournament (12) 11 - Bubble Bobble Plus! (5) 12 - Puzzle Bobble Plus! (11) 13 - Onslaught (14) 14 - My Pokémon Ranch* (16) 15 - Bomberman Blast (13) 16 - My Aquarium (18) 17 - Tetris Party (19) 18 - Snowboard Riot (20) 19 - Bit.Trip: Beat (17) 20 - LostWinds*
I've got the distinct feeling they've changed the formula for calculating popular games. Gut feeling tells me that it's the last 14 days that matters these days. Would explain why no game has dropped in its second week in forever aswell the notable increase in 3rd week free falls...
I would actually like to see something "not Bit Trip" from Gaijin for once. I know these games aren't for me really, but I'm getting fed up with seeing them.
So what those "150 levels" actually mean is 150 different backdrops with the exact same gameplay? Great... I know they're trying to jump on the DYC bandwagon but this is not how to... Besides, one DYC game is plenty...
Strikes me as odd to namedrop Treasure and Cave like that... I mean, it's not the same genre even. The game itself though, it does look more interesting than most puzzlers on WiiWare... But it's still a puzzle game on WiiWare and unless you're doing something exceptional with your game (like World Of Goo) I can't really get myself to care about it.

Not saying it's a good game or deserving of it's position, but why does it seem that people have turned against Sexy Poker because of its theme... While I'm not getting it either seeing as single player poker gaming is a really dumb concept, I'm not judging people it do appeal to and I can understand why they would want something like this. Cause if you actually think about it for a sec, what's more pathetic... To fall victim to one of our most primal driving forces and thereby finding gameplay involving attractive, albeit animated, scantly dressed women enjoyable (even though actual the sexiness factor in Sexy Poker is questionable) or blasting everything that appears on screen to smithereens for no other apparent reason other than killing stuff is apparently fun? Not saying FPS gaming is stupid and immature (well, I'm not doing it at this very second atleast) but isn't it peculiar that just sexuality is such a sensitive subject for so many. Just saying...

Re: Nyx goes on a Furry Quest
That's one weird guest character choice... But it sure worked on me, I for one is more curious about this title because of it.
Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (15th July)
@Bahamut ZERO:
I wouldn't worry quite yet... It's in 7th... Last year in mid August FFCC dropped to 7th for the first time... And the damn thing is still charting! So yeah, 7th place does not mark the inevitable end of WoG...

@Sneaker13:
Aaaah! Dutch chart never fails to entertain!
5 Spots? In 8th?! That's hilarious!

I've got the distinct feeling they've changed the formula for calculating popular games. Gut feeling tells me that it's the last 14 days that matters these days. Would explain why no game has dropped in its second week in forever aswell the notable increase in 3rd week free falls...
Re: Gaijin Games Releases BIT.TRIP Teaser
I would actually like to see something "not Bit Trip" from Gaijin for once. I know these games aren't for me really, but I'm getting fed up with seeing them.
Re: Review: Karate Phants: Gloves of Glory (WiiWare)
@gameking23
No worries, Cave Story will soon be here...
Re: Incoming Trailer and Screenshots
So what those "150 levels" actually mean is 150 different backdrops with the exact same gameplay? Great... I know they're trying to jump on the DYC bandwagon but this is not how to... Besides, one DYC game is plenty...
Re: Nintendo Download: 14-15 July 2009 (JAPAN)
Any chance Mobius Drive might come here? It looks sweet... How about some detailed impressions on it Sean?
Re: Interviews: ColorZ - Exkee
Strikes me as odd to namedrop Treasure and Cave like that... I mean, it's not the same genre even. The game itself though, it does look more interesting than most puzzlers on WiiWare... But it's still a puzzle game on WiiWare and unless you're doing something exceptional with your game (like World Of Goo) I can't really get myself to care about it.
