Why is everyone so excited about a freaking pinball game? I mean, pinball? Do we care about that? Really? And Space Invaders looks kinda "meh"...
Edit: Ok, I actually watched the trailer just now and fine, Space Invaders seems alright. I've just kinda glanced at some pics before which has done nothing for me and the name "Space Invaders" itself isn't really a name that makes me gleaful... But that trailer looked interesting so maybe... I still don't get the Alien Crush excitement though...
Good or bad, it's very much up to the person playing, they are that kind of games. The thing they all have in common is they all are kinda puzzlish, they have a distinctive minimalistic visual look and boast some very creative and unique gameplay .
@Scrent Well, to be honest, Strongbad (or Homestar Runner rather) isn't aired anywhere as far as I know, it's a webcomic... Or actually more of a webanimation series. Thus access to Homestar Runner is as easy to come by in Brazil as it is anywhere else... So I don't know...
Seems like Brazil isn't too fond of Strong Bad... I mean, Episode 2 has already dropped out. I wonder why that is... Is it some kind of language barrier thing or what?
Swedish Top 20: (1) 1 - Mega Man 9 (3) 2 - My Aquarium (2) 3 - Bomberman Blast (4) 4 - Helix (8) 5 - Strong Bad Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free (10) 6 - Defend Your Castle (6) 7 - LostWinds (7) 8 - Midnight Pool (5) 9 - Wild Wild West (11) 10 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King (9) 11 - TV Show King (13) 12 - Cocoto Fishing Master (17) 13 - My Pokémon Ranch (18) 14 - SPOGS Racing (12) 15 - Toki Tori (14) 16 - Dr. Mario & Germ Buster (15) 17 - Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner (19) 18 - Star Soldier R (16) 19 - Block Breaker Deluxe (-) 20 - Pirates: The Key Of Dreams
No new WiiWare games for Europe last Friday so it's mostly the same games as last week. Only difference is that Pirates claimed the 20th spot from Pop. Otherwise there are just the expected erratic movements up and down the chart considering that Sweden is a smaller userbase than let's say the US (duh!) and thus small changes will have large effects. It's notable thought that Toki Tori and Star Soldier R are still holding on to chart spots long after having dropped out of the US charts.
Neither of the new releases make it to the top 20 this week either... not even Midnight Bowling which I thought might atleast get some minor amount of traction due the Midnight name... Ohwell, it was a boring week anyway.
@Objection_Blaster: I know, I just reside in "Denial Land", where everything is good, things happen when I want them too and I'm currently thoroughly enjoying Unirally 2. I just really want the port to be done, sooner rather than later...
@Kriqz Well, it's not really "hype" in the traditional sense since the game is already readily available for download quite easily and very much legally. If you for some reason are skeptical, just download it, try it for yourself and then you can decide if the hype is justified or not.
100K/yr for a game developer?! Yeah, right... In crazy insane world that is. Unless you're the owner of a very successful developer/publisher, making games is not a very profitable job. And concerning the credits list, most those people where probably just in and out contractors or Capcom staff. Any contractors on this game would probably not work on it for more than a few days top and anyone on staff wouldn't burden the development budget of MM9 significantly because they are employed anyway. No, I'd guess that the game cost about 100k-200k. And most of that would be salaries.
Nicklas Nygren is involved in this?! Of course he is. Haha! Oh dear, who would have expected this back in the day. I mean, sure he had ambitions to make games, but apart from a few custom levels in Jazz Jackrabbit 2 I don't think he finished anything ever. To be fair neither did I really but I was never too serious about it. Most of his projects were just really weird or really ambitious or quite often both. These days the games are still weird it seems but atleast they get completed. I bet that left to his own devises he'll put a Goble Ant in there somewhere. Would fit the Cave Story art style anyway. Ahaha! This is so entertaining!
Are you kiddin me?! A complete conversion of Cave Story for the Wii? I just started with it but I guess I'm gonna hold off playing through it on PC then cause this is too awesome to not support. And alos, extra content sounds great. I'm thinking it might very well be the first 10/10 here on this site. Sweetness!
Just thought I'd post the Swedish top 20... Cause there are a few interesting things going on on it: 1 Mega Man 9 2 Bomberman Blast 3 My Aquarium 4 Helix 5 Wild Wild West 6 LostWinds 7 Midnight Pool 8 Strong Bad Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free 9 TV Show King 10 Defend Your Castle 11 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King 12 Toki Tori (oh yeah, you read correctly... but this isn't the biggest surprise) 13 Cocoto Fishing Master 14 Dr. Mario & Germ Buster 15 Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner 16 Block Breaker Deluxe 17 My Pokémon Ranch (moahahahaha) 18 SPOGS Racing 19 Star Soldier R (yes really! isn't it awesome? not that I've bought it, I mean, only 2 level? but it's still kinda cool) 20 Pop

I'm suggesting a collaboration with Cave. How does Radiant Donpachi sound?

So Midnight Bowling finally got released... Where's Gradius Rebirth then? I mean, that's the one we want right? sigh
Re: WiiWare Announcement Blowout - Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands and More
Right, that settles whether or not I'm buying the NES version of Bubble Bobble...

Re: EU VC Releases: Earthworm Jim and Shining Force II
Meh, should have gone with the SNES version, it's better... But I guess you can't get everything, I'll probably get both games down the line.
