It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available on the Wii Shop Channel. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop Channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that easy!
We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.
Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.
Here is the list for the 5th of August:
1 (11) - Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1
2 - Reel Fishing Challenge
3 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My life as a Darklord
4 (5) - My Aquarium
5 (4) - Texas Hold'em Tournament
6 (3) - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
7 (6) - World of Goo
8 (8) - My Pokémon Ranch
9 (7) - Tetris Party
10 (10) - Water Warfare
11 (9) - BUST-A-MOVE Plus!
12 (13) - Family Mini Golf
13 (14) - Dr Mario Online Rx
14 (15) - Defend Your Castle
15 (12) - Ant Nation
16 (18) - 5 Spots Party
17 (17) - Brain Challenge
18 (19) - Cue Sports - Pool Revolution
19 (20) - Onslaught
20 - HB Arcade Cards
* (N) - Denotes a brand new entry on the Top 20
* - Denotes a game that was not on the Top 20 last week
Well we have a new #1 this week with Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 taking over the top spot from Reel Fishing Challenge, which fell one spot to #2. World of Goo also dropped another spot this week, continuing its trip down the Top 20 after many weeks at the top.
The big climber this week was of course Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1, which jumped ten spots to #1. The big droppers this week were Final Fantasy IV: The After Years and Ant Nation, both of which fell three spots to #6 and #15 respectively.
The debut of HB Arcade Cards at #20 sent BIT.TRIP CORE off the Top 20. Can it make a comeback next week? And while we didn't see any of this week's WiiWare releases debut on the chart, we have a sneaky feeling that one particular title might make a huge jump on next week's Top 20 list.

What No Sexy Poker at all Wow who would have thought it :3 FIRST!
Next week sexy poker goes from zero to hero
I would not have thought that Monkey Island is so popular, even though all episodes together are so expensive.
And now the chart is the best it's ever been ... Consistency at its finest!
Swedish top 20:

(14) 17 - Snowboard Riot
(16) 18 - Bomberman Blast
(15) 19 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King*
(17) 20 - My Pokémon Ranch*
ColorZ didn't make it in this week either. I do feel kinda bad for it cause while it's not a game I'd ever consider playing there does seem to be a genuine game in there. They've made a decent effort and should be rewarded for it. Things aren't always fair I guess. It's now the 5th game to never chart.
The Three Musketeers didn't chart either, but that's in its first week. Not really surprising either since the PC version was a free pack-in with pan pizza (yes, you read that right) for a while back in 06... I'm guessing many in Sweden have already played the game... I'm sure it'll do better elsewhere...
Good work supporting those lazy porters @telltalegames. Now we can look forward for even more lazy ports... goes to xbox plays monkeyisland SE
Well, that article went up early...

This isn't communism, you have to make an effort people care about to be rewarded, not just any effort.
Go Monkey Island!

Considering all the crap that does well on the chart on regular basis it's just sad when an actual game is ignored. But since nothing else in life is, why would WiiWare sales be fair.
The super awesome Japanese charts -- this week with changes!
1 (1) Pokemon Scramble
2 (2) Final Fantasy IV - The After Years
3 (N) Pokemon Fantasy Dungeon Ikuzo! The Adventures of Storm
4 (3) Fish Eyes Challenge (Reel Fishing Challenge)
5 (N) Pokemon Fantasy Dungeon Muzase! The Adventures of Light
6 (5) Asobu Made in Ore
7 (N) Pokemon Fantasy Dungeon Susumu! The Adventures of Flame
8 (N) Karaoke Joysound Wii
9 (N) Okiraku Tennis Wii
10 (6) Pole's Big Adventure
11 (4) FFCC My Life as a Darklord
12 (7) My Pokemon Ranch Platinum
13 (8) Bomberman Blast
14 (N) Tomy Car Driver
15 (9) Game of Life
16 (12) Rockman 9
17 (10) Order!
18 (14) Dr. Mario & Germ Buster
19 (13) Licca-Chan Oshare House
20 (11) Minna no Theatre Wii
Only releasing 3 Pokemon games at once could cause this big a shake up! Pole's Big Adventure manages to hang on to the top 10 and Final Fantasy shows some surprising resiliance as does the roll-your-own WarioWare title (no doubt due to the DSi support) but there are other new games in the charts which means someone has to go including stalwarts My Aquarium and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles which have been fixtures in the top 20 since they launched.
Farewell!:
Kentei TV! Wii
FFCC My Life as a King
Blue Oasis (My Aquarium)
Muscle March
Shika Gari
Bang Bang Kids (Water Warfare)
And again just for fun, the VC top 20:
1 (1) Final Fantasy III (FC)
2 (2) Super Mario Bros. (FC)

6 (5) Super Mario World (SFC)
7 (6) Puyo Puyo 2 (MD)
8 (9) Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask (N64)
9 (N) Phelios (ARC)
10 (8) SMB2 (FC)
11 (10) Super Mario 64 (N64)
12 (N) Final Fantasy IV (SFC)
13 (15) Super Mario RPG (SFC)
14 (13) Downtown Nekketsu Kooshinkyoku Soreyuku Daiundookai (FC)
15 (11) Ice Climber (FC)
16 (17) Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (N64)
17 (19) Super Smash Bros (N64)
18 (N) Mario Kart 64 (N64)
19 (17) Kirby's Dream Land 3 (SFC)
20 (14) Twinbee (FC)
Super Mario Kart gets a boost no doubt due to being featured in the most recent Game Center CX challenge on the Nintendo Channel (so tough the man had to get an intern to complete it); this also probably explains why Mario Kart 64 is in the chart -- I'm sure it
was here before, but it's new to me and gets an N as a result.
Phelios and Final Fantasy IV are the other newcomers, which means three must go:
Final Fantasy (FC)
Final Fantasy II (FC)
Super Punch Out!! (SFC)
Wow who would have thought that Reel fish would lose its spot to Monkey Island? Anyone?

Down: Water Warfare, After Years, 5 Spots Party and NyxQuest all fall 4 places.
Hello: Monkey Island straight in at 1, Driift Mania at 6, and Heracles - after a slight delay - in at 16.
Goodbye: Gradius, Puzzle Bobble Plus and My Life As A King.
i am disappointed in americans bringing monkey island to first, and here on monday my life as a darklord was number 1 a much better game
I wonder if Overturn is alienating some people with it's Japanese-ness.
Sorry egg that some of us arn't interested in darklord
.Not saying I got tales of monkey though.Hope that next week sees NyxQuest doing well. I'm surprised that Sexy Poker didn't place this time.
Sexy Poker. Man, that title is such a joke. A bad poker game with a gimmick. The only people that will buy that stupid title are the people who are teenagers who think that is porn.
I wonder if Overturn is alienating some people with it's Japanese-ness.
Unless a game has massive brand appeal or something it usually doesn't shoot up within two days.
Sad that Three Musketeers isn't on there. I'm worried about its sales. I haven't even played TM and I'm already looking forward to Legendo's next title.
Wow, I'm surprised Monkey Island is doing so well despite all it's problems. I think its sad to see that The Three Muskateers didn't even make the chart this week. I just hope that Nyxquest does well next week and Sexy Poker does not.
I wish I could see a VC top 20 or does anyone now where I can access it?
Darklord was #1 a couple of days ago.
No tits -> no buy.
Wii gamers like fish, goo, and pirates?
I agree with WolfRamHeart, it's sad that a game with so many bugs as Monkey Island reach the number one. Oh well, better that than Sexy Poker. I'm glad for Texas Hold'em Tournament out there, with an online and offline for 500 Wii Points with Miis and tournament mode. I'm not that much into Poker but developers that work hard to release a good game with online modes and leaderboards for a short price should be awarded with good sales.
@ Rum Rapture Thanks for that, how recent is that top 20? Many thanks.
8 out the 20 games are Mario titles!!
Sniff, where's my charting love? C'mon people, I have a son to feed...he's shrinking by the day from lack of nourishment!
@ eripmav
Oh Sorry did you post a VC chart, Thank you.

@eripmav I purchased your game, so I did what I could. I think it suffered from "sent to die" syndrome, though, coming out the same week as Tales of Monkey Island. I mean, noone reviewed the game except here! I know, I've looked. I'd say get some contacts with European gaming sites, as you're closer to them, in order to spur some sort of hype. Unfortunately, I think it might be too late for Three Musketeers, but if you are developing another game, make sure to let them know it from the moment it is announced until it is out.
@eripmav:
Might not be a big amount of comfort but Three Musketeers actually made it into the local charts yesterday and should at this rate rank somewhere around 12-16 place when next week's chart comes around. And then... Who knows how long it'll stick around for...
Canada....
"18 (-) - Sexy Poker"
"Yay" for Canada. Or perhaps "Nay", depending on how you interpret it. At least I'm not responsible for putting it on the US charts.... Yet!
