@JayArr Pretty sure it doesn't since those sales doesn't go directly through the Wii Shop. No, FFIV is just popular and to be honest I'm slightly confused why anyone is surprised by this. It's a retro styled RPG named "Final Fantasy". Why wouldn't it be a thundering success?
Yeah... These guys are so not media trained... Really, people should just stop doing that anyway, seeing as interviews like these are much more entertaining anyway.
@KDR_11k Well, after being released for less than 48 hours ago it ranks 8th on the local "Popular Titles" list. Sure, our market might be small but I do think it's interesting.
Sure, Niki got a good deal of hype from a platforming starved WiiWare community. Also there were definitely a sense of people really rooting for them to make a good one after Plättchen crashed and burned seeing as we're very indie friendly around here. And then that one was a big dud. And now this is pretty much their third strike, they're not getting anymore chances. Should learn a thing or two from Gaijin or OtT about how to make well developed indie games.
And to be honest, the excuse that someone hasn't "got" the game because it's a "high scores" game is pathetic. In fact, it's not an excuse. One of my favorite shmups ever is DoDonPachi. I mean, I suck at it, I'm really not good at any bullet hell games, but since the gameplay is so good I'm totally ok with it. That game however at its core is a "high scores game" in it's truest form. It's designed to let you combo your kills and thereby generate higher and higher score and to get a really good score does not only take hours upon hours of practice but equally many hours of planning in order to learn how to best destroy every enemy you see and pick up as much points as possible with breaking the combo. And like I said, it's a really really hard game aswell. So yeah, every inch of it is a game made for chasing high score. This is what makes DoDonPachi a great game, and where Bit Boy!! apparently fails (other than it being the ugliest thing I've seen in years). If I wanna play DoDonPachi but doesn't wanna concern myself with high scores I can and I will have a blast doing it. Bit Boy however, if I'm not a person that doesn't care for high scores, BB offers nothing. It seems I'm much better off playing Pac-Man again for the 100th time.
@Malnin Well, it came out at the same time as Gradius which also is 600 points and to be absolutely clear, that game is definitely not a 6... So yeah, for 600 points I expect a good game. In fact, if you release a game you should always make sure it's good before releasing it, regardless of pricing.
Something tells me that Konami's gonna dominate the charts in the coming months like they're Hudson or something. ... Which come to think of it is owned by Konami too so yeah, Konami/Hudson is maintaining it's grip on WiiWare.
I'm gone for like a day and all of a sudden Gradius Rebirth strikes. And yeah, if anyone was on the fence, this game is total awesome sauce if you're a retro shmup fan and Corbie is crazy for giving it a 6.
@Chibi Link No, you guys have it. I've visited the Aussie store and yeah, there it was alright. Can't go there right now since I've got left over points that I don't wanna lose but yeah, last time I checked it was there. Can't imagine them removing it, sounds counterproductive.
SPOGS and Sudoku's charting?! Really?! These little regional differences sure are peculiar to think about... And no Mega Man there either, makes that game's run in Sweden so much more stand out.
@Vendetta Well, they could have just given them a heads up that if they decided to release the game with the Icarian name they'd get sued... That's what people do most of the time in nations other than the US... That would have been decent of them... But no, they sat happily on their hands until after release and THEN they decided to be dicks...
@Vendetta You're probably right... I just don't like that they're hijacking the success of Icarian for their own purposes, especially since the game has been known about for the last 8 months... That's just sleazy and I hope karmic justice intervines somehow here. Icarian will always be Icarian to me... Just like Bang! willl always be Bang! (as well as avoided)... And all those so called "license holders" can take a nice juicy tree branch up their respective number 2 holes. If I knew how to I'd crash those Ikariam guys' server...
Yeah, I don't know what's up with me today... I'm just in a very passive aggressive mood I guess...
I guess it's good, atleast if Puzzle Bobble Plus! drops too but I already have Puzzle Bobble 2 which is supposed to be the best one so I'm good. Still no Gradius though... Grrrr...
Actually, PAL has always been superior to the NTSC format. It's just that the games have sometimes suffered when converted to PAL format because developer haven't bothered to adjust the game to better fit the PAL specs...
Lair always looked good... Just didn't play very well... This however does neither... I'd rather say "this makes Buck Bumble look good"... Oh god, that game sucked so hard...
AH! For a second there I thought it said "Chrono" and had a minor heart attack. And thus right now, I can't really have an unbiased opinion because of what it's not... But right now I don't think it looks too good... Ohwell, better calm down now...
Depending on reviews, this might very well be the first WiiWare title I buy since Bubble Bobble, and the first since World of Goo that I don't primarily buy for the sake of filling a hole in my collection. So hopefully it's good.
Odd one there. At first glance it kinda reminded me of SimAnt which honestly isn't a good thing really. But it doesn't seem to suffer from the same control issue that plagued that game so I don't know, maybe it'll actually turn out kinda decent.

I atleast know that that's happened with the OFLC which is why some of the games that we got didn't get released down under. I'm sad to report that LostWinds has finally left the chart... Although I'm certain we'll see it again.
Also, maybe you noticed that Penguins & Friends did not chart this week either and seeing as it's rather unlikely that it'll appear later on this makes it only the third game so far to not chart once on the Swedish charts (after Strong Bad Ep: 5 and Lonpos). EDIT: Strike that. Today, the day after, it did in fact enter at 20th place. However, that won't help it much next week when FFIV most likely has hit. So I'm still pretty sure it won't be here on a "chart day".
Sweet! Can't wait to see who's next. This game is getting more and more interesting everytime I hear about it. Personally I'm still hoping for The Kid to appear, I'd just like to have a game with him that I can beat (seriously, I'm not even able to get by Mike Tyson).
@WolfLink22 I just genuinely hate the Genesis/MegaDrive sound chip. It's just not pretty. I mean it works in some cases, especially in where you don't a SNES/Arcade version to compare it to... But generally, it just doesn't work.
Even though there's some minor nostalgia factor there I wasn't really planning on getting Clay Fighter anyway when it comes to the VC over here. But it being the MD version is definitely the deal breaker. What's up with them releasing all these inferior versions all the time? Dammit!
First of all I just wanted to point out that yesterday a video of Team ICOs upcoming game, tentatively named "Project Trico", leaked onto the web. If you haven't seen it yet I command you to immediately go to youtube and check it out. And if you don't like it, I'm sorry but we can't be friends anymore. And I'm aware that posting such a thing on a Nintendo specific site is rather odd but it's just so pretty I can't help myself.
Also, today is the 1 year anniversary of the EU WiiWare shop. How about that. Yay! In addition to that, LostWinds celebrate having spent a full year uninterrupted on the chart, a rather astonishing feat I must say. In addition to that, My Life As A King manages a similar feat since it's charted every single CHART day of the last year, however that game has left the chart on atleast one occasion in midweek. The next game that will be able to register such a feat is Defend Your Castle, in August. (For the record, TV Show King did not chart for 6 of the weeks)

@WolfLink22
I just genuinely hate the Genesis/MegaDrive sound chip. It's just not pretty. I mean it works in some cases, especially in where you don't a SNES/Arcade version to compare it to... But generally, it just doesn't work.
Re: Nintendo Download: Popstars, WiiWare Remakes and Clay Fighting (US)
Even though there's some minor nostalgia factor there I wasn't really planning on getting Clay Fighter anyway when it comes to the VC over here. But it being the MD version is definitely the deal breaker. What's up with them releasing all these inferior versions all the time? Dammit!
Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (20th May)
Hot Rod Show is ranking on the Brazilian charts?! Sweet, I always thought that game deserved a better fate.
Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (20th May)
First of all I just wanted to point out that yesterday a video of Team ICOs upcoming game, tentatively named "Project Trico", leaked onto the web.

This looks exceptionally cool. Straight into my personal top 3 most anticipated.
