Publisher PID Games will be bringing Tomo Camp's 2D puzzle-platformer Pompom to the Switch at some point this year.
This "tribute" to SNES classics and the 16-bit era, in general, is a bit different from your regular platformer - instead of actually controlling the character (in this case, Pompom the hamster), you have to control "everything else".
According to the Steam listing, your task (as the player) is to lay down bricks, springs, cannons, umbrellas, use whips, alter levels and do whatever else it takes to guide Pompom to safety across eight worlds and defeat the evil Captain Cat.
A demo is also available on PC via Steam. Does this look like your kind of game? Comment down below.

It looks like one of those mouse things from Kirby: Mouse Attack/Squeak Squad
Edit: His name is Spinni
Now I want a sidescrolling monkey ball. But modern sega would probably make it easier than Horrible Henry. Edit: This game is an easy pick up for me after watching the trailer.
curious how this will work on switch, a lot of the twitch stuff seems way easier suited to a mouse, hell, mario and wario (its closest comparison i'd think) needed one
That trailer captures the SNES aesthetic remarkably well, the music might actually be using soundfonts from SNES games which might be a legal no-no though.
This looks… surprisingly great!
Super adorable. If the game controls well I'll want this one
@somebread At the very least the Switch can have the option of touch screen and pointer controls, making it more well suited than PS4 or XBOX.
Naked mole rat to the rescue
Wow, this looks great! They captured the SNES Nintendo aesthetic perfectly, even the music! The official artwork even looks like something out of a Kirby game. I like the concept too, it looks pretty fun!
My only gripe is that some of the assets are maybe a little bit....too similar to Nintendo games.
Thought this was gonna be a co-op game where one player assists while the other does the platforming, like the GamePad mode in New Super Mario Bros. U, which was a lot of fun in the mission levels designed specifically for it. It sucks they scrapped one of the best parts of the game in the "Deluxe" version instead of coming up with a workaround; makes it one of the only Wii U to Switch ports that are objectively inferior. It seems this game won't scratch that itch at all though, if you can only be the entity placing blocks and stuff off screen and the character doing the platforming is always AI-controlled. That's really lame.
Looks great. But probably a PC buy. I prefer Switch, but some things are just meant for a mouse. I'll wait for reviews on how it controls.
As someone who's never really gotten into Lemmings, I think it's safe for me to pass on this.
Reminds me of lemmings or that game with the wind-up marios
I really like the look and sound! Def has that snes Mario, Kirby, Yoshi island vibe. Which is nostalgic haha
I like the music. Definitely a SNES vibe to it.
An actual indie game that has a 16 bit art style that looks authentic? Sign me up.
While I'm a bigger fan of the Genesis (even as a Nintendo fanboy) and all of the excellent Genesis style indies over the years, I do appreciate that a platformer is coming out that apes the mighty SNES pretty well.
I'll buy on PC and then hope for a Switch physical if its good.
This music has some Mega Man vibes !
