I've been playing since the original pikmin and I completely get where the hard-core fans are coming from. I get it, it does take away from the raw wilderness survival of the first. It was much more cold ruthless and dire, which did have a drive of survival in it. The surrealness does have an appeal exploring a supposed post apocalypse home seeing things from their perspective. Simple adjustments need to be made optional. Changing the day, the use of Oatchi, target lock on, perhaps even a + mode for smarter tougher versions of enemies. Although 4 is a reboot, it could always be explained simply as another pikmin timeline allowing the events of post 3 to be re explored. It's not perfect but I'm happy to see the community growing and getting Nintendo' s attention. Here's to hoping Pikmin 4 hits the 4 mil mark.
I think throwing Mario into a steam punk type universe would be a refreshing adventure. There would be lots of mechanics to play around with, unexplored worlds to to discover and just image the new puzzles. Mario's new side kick could be some sort of mech buddy. Perhaps a spark to ignite machines or a gear to fix broken ones. Possibilities are limitless.
Call it a Pro or Switch 2 it will definitely be backwards compatible. If they didn't would be fracturing their market and killing the golden goose. The base design of the Switch works great joycons aside why mess with it? This hardware upgrade would give the needed power. I'm not worried about it affecting battery life given that electronics are much more efficient that ever.
This is how the creative process goes. Sometimes you just don't know what will take off. The Switch is a perfect example of a boom idea. I'm sure Nintendo was crossing their fingers when it launched
I the kid made a good choice. It's a fun life experience for both him and his family. The Switch is worth waiting a little longer for. Besides he'd be furious if right after he chose the Switch the Switch Pro FINALLY got announced.
You had over 5 months to buy it. It's not like they just put it up for a week and yanked it back. Either buy it or don't. This isn't buying a car or taking out a mortgage. Yeesh.
@slinkoy01 I think the new Switch with improved graphics and frame rate would help it sell alone. As I mentioned those new titles would be a bonus. They would also make a sensible pairing. The Mario Kart series isn't limited to just people looking for a family game. The Mario Kart series as a whole is testament to having a large broad appeal while still having enough spice and personality to keep it ahead. MK8 deluxe nos nice enough but don't forget it's still a Wii U port. Plenty will keep playing it, just an upgraded console would be an opportune time for the next iteration
I think it would be awesome if Nintendo absolutely floored us by announcing this on March 31st when they are supposedly pulling the limited Mario games. The timing would make sense. Plus a new Mario Kart game, the new Zelda, plus. Pikmin 4. Ok ok, I'm dreaming a bit but something even close to that sort of announcement would floor the Nintendo community. I wouldn't mind paying $399 if I'm getting the bang for buck.
I thought it was a decent console at the time but I understand why it failed. It was so enchanting seeing how vastly some games had improved in terms of graphics, especially pikmin 3. Looking back I realize that Wii U was bascially an early version of the Nintendo Switch. Confusing marketing, slow load times and poor software soft just didn't let this console reach what it could've been. It wasn't going to be a huge success, but the degree of failure could've been toned down. Being able to use the tablet to game instead of the TV was nice, so was being able to draw on, then share artwork on the tablet. Not to mention such a nice interface for Super Mario Maker, really brought that to life. All things have their place in history, and I hope the Wii U won't be thought of as so much of a flop, but rather an early version of what the Switch was to be.
Pretty staggering figure when you figure that in Japan pop 126.5 million, 171K+ already have Pikmin 3 deluxe that means almost 1.5% of the total population owns it ALREADY. This keeping in mind the short window to. All this rationally assuming one person purchasing copy. The Pikmin spirit is alive and well!
Pikmin 3 deluxe being only out for 2 days of the month and still reached 7th on the list? That's actually pretty impressive. You gotta factor in how long it's been out to make a true comparison.

Re: Poll: Pikmin 3 Deluxe Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
If Nintendo just plopped 3 with nothing new I'd get the complaining but let's look at this tactfully.
Cons
Pros
This is hands down a must have. Quit nitpicking as an excuse to be cheap.
