@Bonesmasher I was speaking more along the lines of like FF 12, LA Noire, Dark Souls, Spyro and stuff. Not bad, lackluster. Also even though Dark Souls looks nice, the audio is horrible in it. It's 30 fps, and that's ok cuz the original was. Spyro is ok, but to me looks pretty desaturated and blurry. Star Link is fine. FF 12 runs ok, but there are some questionable visual and textural downgrades. More to that one, but it's been a minute. SO really I just mean, they haven't proven themselves as being GREAT, always lacking in some way. I didn't include the Collections because they are so new and haven't looked into them yet.
@mesome713 "yet it's still a fun game" - that might be true, at its core gameplay, but a game being a "fun game" in some capacity doesn't necessarily mean it deserves a high review score or that it is a "good" game or that the fun part of the game is "most important.". If there are a LOT of other factors that get in the way of said "fun game", they should be discussed openly. Frame rate issues, blurry graphics that make it hard to play, the game pausing and loading in open air sections, ENEMIES THAT POP IN AROUND YOU are all real issues that should not be brushed aside! Reviews are supposed to help us inform our purchases - so just handing out high scores like this and brushing off problems or being deceptive about the issues the game actually has, is not right at all. Your comments, much like NL's review, help trick people into to wasting their money by not properly informing them of notes to consider.
@kingbk It's different than the Witcher. The Witcher had bad graphical fidelity, but the models and the environments still looked beautiful in how its artisty was maintained. This is just awful. Please watch the Digital Foundry review. They are generally super fair about things.
@mesome713 Yes most all critics get the game free - but some youtubers "massage" this relationship by not being critical. You can get soft-black listed. Also, I'm not trolling, just truly offended by people like you lowering the bar for everyone, for the expectations you help set for the devs and pubs putting effort in these $60 games. Literally offended by people like you who spread misleading information because you'll support anything Nintendo. Mate.
@mesome713 Just watched it becuz you mentioned it and RGT 85's review is written like a kid who got a free copy of the game. That dude always comes off as a shill. Some youtubers are gonna be like that becuz they want to continue to receive free copies of games. You have to be careful about that.
@mesome713 Destructoid and Polygon DO NOT have favorable reviews up. That's a lie. They have first impressions articles and they aren't sharing the same opinion as NL. They are critical of it but not as critical as others are. Do you work for Obsidian or something?
Nintendo Life you really should take this review down or revise it. You are REALLY underplaying the issues this port has. This is a huge disservice to people who trust your opinions.
@mesome713 The critics disagree? Go on youtube right now and look up gameplay. Look up other reviews. Please don't support this kind of garbage. Listen, today is the first day we've seen footage and seen more than like 4 screenshots...that's pretty deceptive of them and proves they were hiding something.
@PlayedNSlayed This port company has had a lackluster track record. I'm sure Panic Button is putting more effort in their port. I expect Eternal will target lower rez but will rework assets enough that the game doesn't look and play like dog crap.
@mesome713 The review acknowledges it but brushes it off, most likely because they don't wanna look bad by having a big interview with them and then turn around and grade it poorly - while the fun you can have with this is subjective...in no way shape or form should graphics and performance this bad deserve an 8. Seriously.
@mesome713 yes graphics they change if a game is fun or not when it's a first person sandbox game like this, with visuals this awful - 340p in undocked mode?
@JR150 I complained about all those things and didn't buy Yoshi because of it. Ppl didn't make a huge stink out of Tokyo Mirage because not a lot of ppl cred about it being released. Ppl did complain about Kirby being 30 fps, but the game looked good.
@Hordak Dude. Saying, "The controls initially had some very noticeable lag, but once you are able to speed your character up, the lag disappears" is a totally deceptive to put it. The initial lag had nothing to do the character speed - it had actual bad input lag. That got patched.
@TheNewButler maybe...but while i do feel the same way about things when considering which system to a game for...sometimes when you go with the Switch version, and the version feels bad, you don't end up playing it much anyway
This game comes out on Friday. How much footage have we seen? Nearly none, but a few quick clips. How many screenshots? Just a handful. 24 gb download for physical? How much is actually playable on the card? Not enough enough. Cancelling my order tonight, I'll see how this all shakes out and make a decision when it goes on sale.
@TheNewButler buy it elsewhere if you can. It will be cheaper and actually look really pretty. Prob my biggest regret purchase last year (not getting it on PS4).
@clvr get it on PC. It looks dreadful on Switch and the frame is only a kind of solid 30fps. It runs much better than at launch, but actually looks even worse in spots now and still has performance hiccups. I regret not buying it for Ps4. Btw this patch added nothing toward the performance fas as I can tell.
Still no confirmation for when us physical backers are going to get the game. This kickstarter launched well into the Covid issue, so I'm only cutting them so much slack as far as all this is being handled from a communications perspective.
@IronMan30 Different situation. Witcher doesn't look super hot (it looks much better after the recent options update) on Switch. However that game has a ton of goodwill going for it and people are willing to sacrifice the visuals for the HUGE open world. So much to do in it. While Tony Hawk has had a bad track record going back to the Wii. This video is really good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgngIxHOOVs on the subject, and the scope of the game is much more limited when compared to the Witcher. So it needs to hit it hard on all fronts. The latest release in the series also suffered for trying to port to many systems. So, they need to NAIL this. Have it look and play amazing. It makes sense to not waste time making a Switch version work. Maybe down the line. The Witcher took a LOT of effort too.
@MaseSco Dino Crisis in the RE Engine and outdoors? So sold. I love RE, but don't play a lot of it because I got this problem where when I play a game, if it features too much time indoors, I get kind of depressed. That's why RE Revelations 2 and RE4 are such favorites of mine.
Some (very few but some) might not mind the jacket. There's stuff out there people sell that relieves some cats from stress by having something wrap their body. But for the most part...why do this to your little buddy? They don't want this crap on them.
@IronMan30 Uh...maybe because they want this to look amazing and that's important after the utter mess of the last few games. Remaking this game with a weak system like Switch in mind is what KILLED them back when they tried to make versions of THPS 5 for Ps3 360 AND Ps4 Xbox 1. You can watch in depth videos on that. This is a smart move for them. Don't pretend like the Switch isn't just a "Pro" version of the PS3.
@andyc777 Looks great but I'm curious how it handles environments that aren't just made of rocks, lol. Grass blowing in the wind is always an engine killer.
Watching some youtube videos of the new patch...and it looks like the graphics are worse? I know that lately some youtube vids seem to be really compressed and inaccurate (more than usual) so I'm hoping someone here can tell me what's up. Been waiting to buy this game until they patched it up a bit.
I was raving about this on another site wondering why no one was covering it. It's sooooo good, hopefully this gets implemented across the board - has been around in the OS for some time now.
Platinum is out of the office until May 6th and somehow that negates them from being able to update their Kickstarter....kind of worried when us backers are getting a copy.
@nickeddowes i got in at 12:45 am EST (my session was only supposed to be from 11PM est to 12am est and got 2 matches in at 12:45, then another one at 1:15) because they stealth extended the beta and just waited for most people to leave to open up the servers.
@BarryDunneIGS he's released a bunch of games and stuff since. It seemed like he was using that money to pay off some ports he was doing. Plus his communication was awful and when it was there it was odd. I genuinely backed the game and then got a refund. I waited a loooooong time. He isn't "some dude" either. Like I'm backing Monster Crown. That game is way late, but the dude, who is just "some dude" has been updating a bunch, interacting with the community (not ignoring them or questions like Juules) and explain why things are late or if they were sick. So I'm like, not mad there. Juules is professional, not acting like one. Not acting like the funding owes him any true communication to his backers. Maybe he is better now.
@Sunsy not a beta, is a 99.9 percent finished game. I know they are calling it a beta, but it comes out in a month. The word beta is something devs just toss around nowadays. This is a stress test, one that was completely broken.

@Bonesmasher Also yeah I can't believe people are defending this port. It's a level of crazy brand brain washed people.

You know what this review on this site reminds me of? The 8 they gave Mutant Year Zero in 2019. I actually bought that garbage.

@TAndvig With the slowed outlook of future game releases, they REALLLLLY need people to go and click on that Amazon affiliate link for revenue.
