Re: A Limited Edition Fortnite Nintendo Switch Bundle Has Been Announced For Europe

Dang69

@Enigk I hated Fortnite when it first came out. I remember telling people "it feels like you're walking across town for a half hours, then you see someone and you die or they do." For me the "reboot van" feature made the game more appealing. Then, I dunno, one day in 2019 I wanted to shoot something in a game, heard about the Batman event, gave it another shot and fell in love. I've played it almost everyday since Sept 2019, recently moving onto Ps4 with it for the added frames. To your Splatoon question, not JUST new outfits, just....new something. Bringing back the Splatfests definitely helps, but given HOW STRONG that community is or was, it is just a shame they stopped adding anything to it. Fortnite is always adding stuff and refreshing stuff, and adding and removing things to change the meta. I don't expect that for free either. A battlepass with some rewards, challenges you unlock in matches, maybe limited timed weather effects on maps, new maps, remixed maps, a lite storyline, anything.

Re: Nintendo First Revealed The Switch Four Years Ago Today

Dang69

Wonder what the legacy will be for this. I mean that first year...wow. My favorite year of gaming hands down. Then after about a year...batteries started expanding, cases started cracking, usb-c Switch ports started frying because they weren't actually "usb-c compliant", and people lost save data while waiting for cloud saves to drop a year and a half+ after launch. 2018 was the beginning of a lot of us long-timers realizing Nintendo wasn't the Quality of Seal company they used to be. The games in 2018 started the trend of publishers and Nintendo realizing they could drop overpriced, half hearted ports on us with much of the game or games not on the card. Empty cases with codes. But we got Fortnite. We got a TON of AMAZING indie games (2018 for indie on Switch was fire). And we got Smash Bros. And it was glorious until we realized how awful the online was. In Sept of that year We FINALLY got our Nintendo Online services and it was...pretty disappointing and frustrating and we realized that voice chat was mostly going to remain locked to their phone app. 2019 was the year of the drift, continuing to this day. A real, very very real problem. The first half was a wasteland for games, but the second half was beautiful with every sort of game one could want, including my favorite game on Switch FE3H. 2020 Switch had it's Pokemon Go! crossed with Wii Sports moment with Animal Crossing. Huge. Lovely. Everything else? 2020 continued frustration of 3rd party ports to the system that don't seem like they had a lot of dev love put into them. Mario Games with time limits on when you can you buy them, lol. People in quarantine not traveling as much and using the system undocked, removing some of the allure of the hybrid. Whatever the legacy may be, oh baby baby, 2017 was worth 5 years of good video game times. Just such an awesome memory.

Re: A Limited Edition Fortnite Nintendo Switch Bundle Has Been Announced For Europe

Dang69

@Heavyarms55 If one can manage the attraction of all the custom skins and accessories...it's an amazing game for free (the experience on Switch is dreadful though). Battle Passes are only 7 or 8 bucks now and last a few months with tons of content in them (look at the current Marvel themed battlepass, like just a TON of good skins). I don't mind dropping money into the game since the game itself holds my interest more than anything else does, beyond 20 or 30 hrs like most games I end up dropping. All that money getting dropped in the game gives us constant refreshes and new content. I'd DIE for some sort of microtransactions or battle pass for Splatoon2 so that game wouldn't have dried up or lost my interest. But after awhile it just felt like the same thing over and over with no new gear as well. Really sad, because that game was my jam for a quite awhile.

Re: A Limited Edition Fortnite Nintendo Switch Bundle Has Been Announced For Europe

Dang69

@Archius9 Because this game is mega popular and all the Apple mobile users are locked out of the new seasons, because of the ongoing lawsuit between Apple and Epic, might be looking for a new "mobile" place to play. Nintendo is hoping this will help steal kids over to a "mobile" version via the Switch. However, what makes this gross, and this comes from a dude who played Fortnite on Switch for 1250 hrs...the game has gotten increasingly worse on the platform and is BARELY worth playing on there now. Frames regularly dropping to 17fps, builds not coming out when they should, etc.

Re: Fortnite Players On Switch Struggling To Aim With Gyro Controls After Most Recent Update

Dang69

@Vepra I found that the added physics hurt the performance in the game. Cuz, lets say you're hot and heavy in a squad versus another 2 squads. If everyone has added physics to their characters that's all the more the game has to process. I only stopped playing on Switch like...I think it's actually been a month now. I stopped equipping capes and backpack bling anything or a bunch of physics and animations and found it helpful. You can test it too when youre dropping. Try equipping a simple umbrella glider versus something like Batman's cape glider. A difference of 6 to eight frames (yeah you are seeing a larger FOV and that factors into the performance, but it's a nice face to simulate a TON of stuff going on in a big battle).

Re: Fortnite Players On Switch Struggling To Aim With Gyro Controls After Most Recent Update

Dang69

@invictus4000 I never played with gyro on Switch (outside of a couple matches) because I figured that someday I might graduate to a system or whatever that may not support it and didn't wanna rely on it, PLUS every cracked kid in the game told me not to use it, lol. I have a good "older-good-dude-streamer-voice" apparently and in matches over all the hours I'd play I'd just pick people's brains on what their settings were, people always shared because they liked how my voice sounded, lol. In al those matches I never met another Switch player that used gyro (at least those who were talking with me). I always thought it would make sense for fast edits and stuff...but I think I can see why a lot of people don't use it. For example, I could easily see how it would make long distance shots, particularly sniping REALLY nice. But for flick shots with a pump or close range spraying, there really isn't time for the adjustment from motion, it really needs to be done in one fast input from your stick. It's more about how fast your raw input, so having complete stability while holding your controller and relying on stick movement while your quickly moving around SEEMS better, like you have better all around control. But more importantly, I think aim assist with motion controls got heavily nerfed or removed correct, last year? If that's the case, you're playing at a huge disadvantage for when someone drops into your box. I don't even see how motion controls could help at that close of range. Cuz the thing is, and this is all my opinion from someone who has not really used motion, when I die in the game now, it is from upclose build/box fighting. I tailor my settings to that. You're not going to die that often from long distance fighting anyways, and with the past spray meta being nerfed, mid range distance fights allow for another time to protect yourself with some builds. So I've found it preferable to tailor my sensitives to what makes me more efficient up close. Curious as to your experience. Also I listed a couple tips above for improving performance on Switch if you're curious.

Re: Fortnite Players On Switch Struggling To Aim With Gyro Controls After Most Recent Update

Dang69

@Ajent As your lobbies get harder and all the kids are flip dipping around at faster and faster speeds, those little delays become BIG problems. At a certain point builds not being snappy means you'll get shot "thru" walls and stuff. Here's a few tips on how to increase performance.

1) This is obvious but, make sure you're using a lan adapter for your Switch and plugging directly into your router. The Switch wifi is actually awful, even if you have good wifi and it is close to your router. 2) Change your system output to 720p versus 1080. You'll notice a boost in performance. It's not a total game changer, but it helps. It'll make it harder to see stuff in the distance, but the tradeoff is completely worth it. 3) NEVER EVER use any animated backpacks (even capes) or character skins that have animations, or a lot of fabric physics to them (even avoid the ones with little flame or smoke details). In fact I stopped equipping a backpack entirely. 4) Stop playing Squads and do Duos or Solos. I feel like this point is the strongest. It really makes the game more manageable.

Re: Fortnite Players On Switch Struggling To Aim With Gyro Controls After Most Recent Update

Dang69

@Ajent It's interesting though, yes the playerbase skill level is higher in PS4 pool lobbies...but I've also lost a lot on Switch due to the performance (never ever get in a helicopter). On Switch I felt like I hit a wall because of this. I remember the exact moment I quit the Switch version. I landed outside of Stark's, on the hillside facing out toward Steamy Stacks. Went for a chest nestled by rocks, got a pump shotgun and "Thor" comes out of nowhere and is basically teleporting around and the game is chugging and I literally cannot hit a shot and lose to a pistol. A PISTOL. It felt awful, and I was just done with it. Immediately afterward I linked my PS account and deleted my Switch version. There has been lots of times like that, it got to the point where I had to fight people at a distance because my builds wouldn't come out because the game would give me crazy delays. All the fire animations now have made the game chug worse, etc. So yes, while the player base on Switch is less skilled (I have met some CRACKED Switch kids tho), I've also died some idiotic deaths due to how the games runs on Switch, and that is it'd own kind of depressing. They need to performance options on Switch with the ability to toggle on some of the effects, shadows, shaders, etc. PC players already do it, so it isn't cheating.

Re: Fortnite Players On Switch Struggling To Aim With Gyro Controls, After Most Recent Update

Dang69

@Ajent I played Fortnite on Switch for 1250 hrs in the last year...thought I had got pretty decent at the game, not many AI in my lobbies, working hard and winning a lot of Solos and Duos (had to stop Squads in the last 2 seasons due to increasingly poor performance when too many people were fighting on screen). Just switched to PS4 Pro in the last 2 months...and...everyone is so cracked in my lobbies I feel like I'm playing a different game entirely. Everyone in the entire match feels like the last 3 players in a Switch based pool of players. It's been humbling.

Re: Fortnite Players On Switch Struggling To Aim With Gyro Controls, After Most Recent Update

Dang69

Sounds like yet another blow to increasingly poor experience Fortnite is on Switch. Even when Fortnite mobile was a thing, Switch was still literally the worst place to play. Why Epic doesn't let Switch (let alone all consoles) have graphic settings to shut off shadows and stuff on PC to help performance is just mindblowing. Played it for 1250 hrs on Switch and when changing to PS4, the changes were insane in spots I didn't even notice there were problems (like ads-ing with a sniper on Switch has a ton of lag). Game is unplayable unless you're doing solos or duos IMO (stay away from helicopters too). Kind of scummy of Nintendo to release this as a promotional pack-in for their special edition Switch coming out. A lot of parent's kids who were on mobile will pry buy it for them not knowing it is a lesser experience to disgusting degree.

That said, I didn't realize that many people used the gyro on Fortnite? It's always been pretty awful.

Re: Dr Disrespect Gets His Own Skin And Map In Rogue Company

Dang69

@Cr4shMyCar He's chilled out a lot tho. You know where that personality comes from? There was proximity chat in Halo 2 and he use to do the character for fun (kind of a 80s style Randy Macho Man Savage) and got people laughing on the other end of the mic. That response prompted him to do some commentary over gameplay videos on youtube...a LOOOOOOONG time ago. People got a kick out of it and it worked out for him.

Re: Dr Disrespect Gets His Own Skin And Map In Rogue Company

Dang69

Also when you say "accused of racism" you really should provide some reference. You're making it sound worse than it is. It was one incident speaking in a fake Chinese dialect, because his random duo partner was talking up a storm to him on the mic in Cantonese (I think it was Cantonese). Do I think that was a super cool thing to do? No. Was it mean spirited? Not really. Do I think that makes him a racist as the throwaway line in this article implies? Nope. His chat is also full of a ton of people from all over the world donating money thru super chats (constantly from India in particular), who don't seem to think he is a racist either. Also I don't think Snoop Dogg, Odell Beckham Jr. or Sc0ut could stream with Doc if he was a white racist dude. You can disagree with me, but it's disingenuous to just casually state that in the article, is all I'm saying.

Re: Dr Disrespect Gets His Own Skin And Map In Rogue Company

Dang69

All the Doc stuff was a bit pricey, but how could I resist a chance to be so damn good looking? Also the new Champions Club Arena map is really pretty. Game itself is weird for me...I don't know that I love it, but I get a tickle in my brain to play it now and again, after strongly disliking it at first. Slow grower on me. The instant action of it, after slogging thru games like Fortnite all the time is pretty refreshing.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Monster Hunter Rise And The Three amiibo

Dang69

@Kryzeth So weird - when I typed that comment to you on Monday I literally had Prinny sitting in my cart, but did the opposite thing you did, because I didn't think I wanted all the extra stuff in it for 20 more bucks. Is the art book cool? I couldnt find many preview pages for it. I love all the character designs in the Disgaea world...kind of a more recent convert thru D1 and D5.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Monster Hunter Rise And The Three amiibo

Dang69

@Kryzeth Ok this is weird. I haven't ordered them yet. BUT the other day I added Prinny 1+2 to a cart and it gave me free shipping for everything, in the bar on the right. The reason I didn't order it was because THEY ONLY have the $60 version of Prinny not the $40 one. So I figured I'd just think of something else later to preorder alongside the amiibo. Right now I tried adding Pikmin in the cart with the amiibo and it didn't work for free amiibo shipping, just the game. I removed Pikmin and added Disgaea 4, now I have free amiibo shipping (I'm testing this as I'm typing now). Just removed D4 and added Age of Calamity, no free amiibo shipping. Removed Calamity and added Zelda BotW and have free amiibo shipping. Removed BotW and added Ryza 2, no free amiibo shipping. So it looks like adding another preorder game doesn't give free amiibo shipping, but a previously released game does. The weird thing is, when I messaged you, Prinny was coming out the next day, and wasn't released yet. I hate Gamestop so much dude. Effing garbage company, carrying on the legacy of their Xenoblade wii fiasco.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Monster Hunter Rise And The Three amiibo

Dang69

@Ks123 Oh I know that - pretty mad about it, just another gross fomo Gamestop tactic to squeeze more money out of you - but if you toss another game in the cart that is over $35, it will give you free shipping on the amiibo. I've encountered this before with...RESTOCK PREORDERS OF AMIIBO. Seriously. RESTOCK PREORDERS, lol.

Re: Yes, Monster Hunter Rise Really Is Running On Standard Switch Hardware

Dang69

You can tell it's running on reg Switch, there's a lot of frame rate dips, a loooot so far, and the environments are pretty simple vegetation wise. The reason anyone is surpised it looks this good on Switch is that we rarely have 3rd parties putting in this amount of effort into their games, which are usually smashed down ports not built from the ground up for Switch.

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

Dang69

@SwitchForce The joycon that come with the Switch unit itself is under the 12 month warranty, not the individually purchased joycon, those are under a 3 month warranty. The 2 sets I was referring to were individually purchased. I traded back in my grey joycon from my intial Switch purchase within a couple months of buying the hardware so I could get ones with color as they were never in stock in a bundle at the time I bought it.

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

Dang69

@FantasiaWHT "How many people are experiencing the problem has literally nothing to do with whether Nintendo has done something illegal." If a company is selling a product with parts that break after 4 months and only give you a 3 month warrantee on the product, you absolutely have a case for it. Especially since...well there's no way you're a lawyer. All of this is way more complex than you state. "Lemon Laws" exist, "Implied Warranties" exist, you could even get crazier with it too. Obviously all of this is effected by the state the case is made in. I'm not a lawyer, but I do know there are implications to mass producing $80 products (I think the law changes after 10 bucks or so) that can break one month after warranty potentially violations FTC laws. ALSO very important to once again keep in mind Nintendo tried charging $40+ to fix these defective joycon UNTIL the lawsuit was filed last year. And unlike you I keep seeing "they have a CASE for this." It's up to courts to decide, I'm not a lawyer, but there is ABSOLUTELY enough here for a CASE.

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

Dang69

@FantasiaWHT The are only repairing it because of the lawsuit. So I had 2 sets of joycon that drifted, last year. I called Nintendo 3 weeks before the lawsuit was doing the rounds to get a repair set up. They wanted to charge me 40 or 45 dollars a piece to repair them, "nothing we can do." After the lawsuit they I called again and they offered to fix them for free. One set I had owned for a year, the other set I had owned for 6 months. Took them 5 weeks to get them back to me. Flashforward to January, I give my old Switch to my girlfriend's kid with the Splatoon 2 joycon (I bought myself a new Switch with the better battery in it). I have not touched the Splatoon 2 joycon since they got fixed, literally because I knew I would be doing this in December. My other set of joycon I have barely used in handheld mode, only using it for Tetris. In April of this year after 4 months the joycon started drifting. That kid and her mom are 1000x cleaner and more gentle and careful than I am in general. She only plays a couple hours a day for (barely) 4 months and they start drifting. At the time COVID shutdown the repair centers, and they are relatively poor I drop $80 on new joycon to send them in April. Not every family or individual has a well to do boyfriend to send them new joycon when their crap drifts. I'd play Animal Crossing with them online and watch their character not be able to stand in place. IF this was a rare occurrence across the consumer base, sure your argument would hold water. But when it is happening regularly to 1000s and 1000s and 1000s of people you have the case for a class action FTC backed lawsuit. As for my other joycon I own, I don't touch the thing in handheld mode anymore. I use the dpad for Tetris in a Joycon grip (which doesnt really use the stick at all) and that's it.

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

Dang69

@FantasiaWHT What? Show you guarentee? You want me to upload you a personal video? lol. LITERALLY had joycon drift after getting fixed 4 MONTHS later. This happened in April during Nintendo's repair center shutdown to boot. Why defend such a crappy, consumer hostile, dirty thing Nintendo is doing with the cheap parts they are using? This isn't the launch year, where we give a company a bit of extra understanding. People like you ruin the bar of quality for EVERYONE.

Re: Monster Hunter Rise To Receive Free Content After Launch, Targeting 30 FPS

Dang69

@RPGamer Galaxy is awesome in it. Never played it before. Adore it. MIght end up liking it more than Odyssey. The level design feels SO fresh still and the gameplay feels so smooth. Surprised by how awful the colors are in it tho, and how generic looking a lot of it is (art direction wise, not level design). I actually think Sunshine holds up the best visually, it looks really pretty to me. But 64 needs work, that camera is unacceptable, it hurt back when it first came out (I was 13 when I first played it in 96). But I don't mind the polygon look of 64 either. When I'm talking about expecting more out of graphics I usually am referring to fidelity of the image within its art direction. Like Xenoblade Chronicles Remastered HURTS to look at. So I think Mario 64 looks good, even to that game comparatively speaking. 64 just doesn't play so hot anymore and fixing the camera, making it widescreen and running it at 60 fps would have helped tremendously given the kind of game it is. And given Nintendo is THE richest Japanese company out there, they definitely could have afforded to hire the amount of help needed to do this. Also, Sunshine could be 60 fps, that game during development WAS 60fps back in the day, until they had to rush it out the door when the GC was struggling, and when finishing it they downgraded it to 30. We're paying a premium for these old games, these aren't eshop VC releases. Export more and you will get more.
