I love Animal Crossing. I imported the Australian PAL version on GameCube two years before its European release; it's the only game I've ever felt inclined to import (thinking that it would never get released in Europe).
It's a wonderful game series, but I can say wholeheartedly that I very much dislike the mobile iteration. It took away the slow-burn atmosphere that I enjoy from a typical Animal Crossing - it felt like I was playing a version designed for people with very short attention spans.
I understand the reasons why (it's a mobile game, after all!), but a sense of delayed gratification and the slow burn is possibly the series strongest and unique quality.
Let's not forget that the true origins and development history of the Harvest Moon series belongs to Marvelous, who broke ties with Natsume and now make the Story of Seasons games.
Harvest Moon under Natsume is Harvest Moon in brand-name only. Though I will give them kudos for supporting Marvellous in publishing the franchise at its inception.
@Dakt Exactly. I played Mother 3 a few months ago and it was glorious. The fan translation is amazing.
There are pretty obvious reasons why Nintendo might object to bringing the game to the West, though. The game is thematically very dark; a whole chapter of the game basically involves repeated physical and psychological torture of an animal.
Not to mention the references to alcohol and the inclusion (quite brilliantly, I might add) of characters that are quite clearly implied to be transgender.
I love the game for its daring characterisation and openness to challenging themes, but these are likely problems for a company that is still very parochial in its treatment of the Western market.
@TRON I think it might be my favourite JRPG. Would you believe that I initially gave up on the game because I thought it was a bit boring to begin with.
Thankfully, I gave it another go and it soon became my obsession for well over 100 hours of playtime.
@MarioFanatic64 I'd argue that even the original DS wasn't exactly as powerful as an N64. It could barely handle 3D graphics. The only improvement I ever noticed was sharper textures.
3DS was Nintendo's first handheld to clearly best the N64 in terms of 3D graphics.
@BornInNorway81 Exactly. Reads like a pipe-dream in hindsight.
20 years later and we've finally got an N64-beating handheld in 3DS, but even that can only manage a sixth of the battery life that this rumour proposes.
@ROBLOGNICK I imported the Australian PAL version too There was no certainty at the time that it would ever be released in Europe. But of course it finally arrived on our shores about a year after the Australian version.
"There's logic to these claims (some of which reinforce industry reports, such as the X86 architecture), particularly the idea of support for an additional screen, My Nintendo integration and the ability to run current-gen (PS4 / Xbox One) games."
This sentence is very confusing. Are you suggesting that the NX will actually run PS4 / Xbox One games? Because that's how the sentence reads.
I'm guessing you mean Wii U as that is also current-gen, regardless of whether it has as much processing muscle as Sony and Microsoft's consoles.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U)
I'm playing the Wii U version and it is fantastic.
It's a great achievement, and bodes very well for the future of Zelda!
Re: Here Are The File Sizes For All Of The Nintendo Switch's Launch Day Downloads
I'm surprised a game as big as Breath of the Wild is only 13GB. Makes me question why a lot of modern games have such inflated file sizes.
Re: Video: Usain Bolt Brings Olympian Power in Latest Pokémon Sun and Moon Trailers
@Exy I really don't see what implications you could be referring to. Please enlighten me.

Re: GameSeek States It'll Keep Selling Nintendo Switch for £198.50 Up to Release
@pinktothelast Tesco does as well.
Re: Arc System Works Is Reviving The Jake Hunter Series On Nintendo 3DS
@ollietaro Yeah, you're right. I got Chase: Cold Case Investigations and Jake Hunter mixed up...
Re: Arc System Works Is Reviving The Jake Hunter Series On Nintendo 3DS
I'm pretty sure that the DS games weren't released in Europe.
The only Jake Hunter game we've gotten is the one that was released recently on the 3DS eShop.
Re: Hori Range of Nintendo Switch Accessories, Including LAN Adapter, Arrives on Amazon UK
@G0dlike The official case also has room for a few carts, according to the Japanese Nintendo site. Check out these pictures from the official site:

Notice the flap holding up the Switch tablet in the second pic? The official case looks like it has the same game-storage flap as the Hori Tough Case.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch To Start At £199.99 In United Kingdom, $329.99 In Canada
@Moroboshi876 I'm almost certain that the two 'Joycon' controllers will be included; they are a vital part of the actual unit.
It would frankly be hilarious if Nintendo only provided one lopsided Joycon controller on the side of the unit.
Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon Version Exclusives Leaked Online
I was leaning towards Sun but I really like Drampa so now I'm leaning towards Moon...
But I don't like the idea of Moon's in-game clock being 12 hours ahead of real-world time.
Has anyone clarified exactly how the time difference works in Sun and Moon?
Re: Budget New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced for North America
I really want to buy a smaller, white New Nintendo 3DS, but they're getting harder to find in the UK for a decent price.
If Nintendo offer these in the UK at £100 I'll snap one up.
Re: Volcanion Distribution Kicks Off in North America and PAL Countries
@Tyranexx Don't feel bad. It's not your fault that GameStop have seized all the distribution codes
Re: Seven New Pokémon Revealed for Pokémon Sun and Moon
I really like the design for Drampa. It's like a cutesy take on mythological Chinese dragons. I also quite like Cutiefly and Charjabug.
But what's with the creepy, evil-looking teeth on Bruxish? First we got Yungoose's scary gnashers, and now Bruxish.
Re: The CEO of Level-5 Had a Hand in Dragon Quest IX Appearing on the DS
@Dpishere I didn't know that they'd removed random battles... That just might be enough to convince me to replay it on 3DS.
But I kind of don't want to spoil my memories of the game by replaying it again...

Re: The CEO of Level-5 Had a Hand in Dragon Quest IX Appearing on the DS
@Dpishere I completely agree with you. I can't fault its gameplay but the lack of characterisation for team members was hugely disappointing.
Still a great game. But not as good as Dragon Quest VIII, which I still think is the greatest Dragon Quest game so far.
Re: CoroCoro Has A Pokémon Sun And Moon Exclusive Lined Up For Its Next Issue
@abbyhitter I'm not trying to defend CoroCoro, but maybe Nintendo withheld the exclusive content they were promised?
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@ALinkttPresent Thank you for clarifying. Does it state this on the T&C's for the bundle?
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@ASonic3582 "Do we get the other games when they're available if we bite early?"
I'd like to know the answer to this question as well.

Re: Poll: The Utterly Charming Animal Crossing Series Is 15 Today, But Which Is Your Favourite?
@DrDingus I completely agree. Playing the original Animal Crossing on GameCube was a wonderful experience, and so full of surprises.
Re: Poll: The Utterly Charming Animal Crossing Series Is 15 Today, But Which Is Your Favourite?
@BaffleBlend Wow. I did not know this...What happens? After 2030 the year just stays on 2030 permanently?

Re: Looks Like Nintendo's Familiar Red And White Branding Is Back For Good
I'm happy about this.
I've never liked the grey-on-white branding from the Wii and DS era.
Re: Hurrah, Miitomo Is Now Available In The West
@TheRaginSteak
Thanks for this.
How do I get Xposed modules?
Re: Hurrah, Miitomo Is Now Available In The West
@TheRaginSteak
My phone is rooted. I guess that's why it doesn't work...
Typical Nintendo to be so controlling, even in the smartphone space!
Re: Hurrah, Miitomo Is Now Available In The West
@jestermx6
That's exactly what's happening on my OnePlus One.
Re: Hurrah, Miitomo Is Now Available In The West
@RoomB31
OnePlus One.
Re: Hurrah, Miitomo Is Now Available In The West
The app keeps crashing on my android phone...
Not a good start.
Re: Video: Sit Back and Enjoy Two Hours of Monster Hunter Generations Gameplay
So is this a spin-off to the main Monster Hunter series?
What makes it different?
Re: Rumour Buster: No, That Person You StreetPassed Is Not Playing Pokémon Sun
How bizarre.
I've actually StreetPassed this "Yuki" person TWICE.
Both times they had "Pokemon Z" listed as their "Most Recent Software". This was a week or so before Pokemon Moon/Sun had been announced.
Edit: I wanted to post a screenshot of the offending Mii on my StreetPass Mii Plaza but I can't attach images in the comments.
