Following the recent Nintendo Direct announcement that Monster Hunter Generations is coming to the 3DS this Summer, this writer missed the boat. Two hours could have been spent (on 4th March) watching the localised version of the game in action in a live stream, including a segment of the neat new mode where you can tackle hunts in a pack of Palicos.
Thankfully, Capcom Europe did upload it to YouTube and shared some recent reminders on Twitter. It shows off a lot of the early game, with character creation and some initial quests / combat styles shown off. For those that have followed Monster Hunter X (Cross) closely it will all, naturally, look rather familiar - nevertheless it's satisfying to see the localised version looking rather snappy.
Check it out below.

I really like this Monster Hunter and I hated the series until I played 4U. I put about 50+ hours into MHX (Thank God for imports and region free) and I loved it. I felt it was 4U with some improvements and new things added. The hunter arts are awesome. Can't wait until I can play it completely in English.
I am excited for this but I so want the nx to be a hybrid so Capcom has to take the graphics up a hell of a notch. Imagine MH looking as good as XC or better.
So does this have G rank?
Still going to abbreviate this as MHX as MHG has already been taken.
@MajinCubyan
Region-free?
Oh, right. Homebrew.
@SetupDisk if this truly is MHX then no.
@ShadJV
D'oh! The game doesn't start till then though. Excitement levels plummet.
@AVahne Yep, probably my favorite thing about it. Now I just gotta work on my Japanese, very minimal. Haha.
My introduction to monster hunter was tri on the Wii, and later 3u on the wiiu. I bought 4u when it came out, but barely played it. I kept thinking, I wish I could play this on a bigger screen. I understand the reasoning - Capcom is not in the best shape financially, and the handhelds are cheaper to produce and guarantee higher sales. I just wish Nintendo would take notice and help finance a console version.
@Blastcorp64
Yes, I would much rather 4U and this on Wii U. MH3U was great times. Hell even an upscaled version like MH3U was.
@SetupDisk
It's not like they don't adjust the game accordingly in the absence of G rank. Besides, from what I've heard, Cross has more quests than 4U as well as the named variants which are far more powerful thank the standard monsters. So it kinda does have G rank.
If you're looking for Monster Hunter Generations videos there are tons of them on GaijinHunter's Youtube channel.

@SetupDisk yeah, I would take 4U as it is - only on the wiiu.
So is this a spin-off to the main Monster Hunter series?
What makes it different?
@DWWM The fans are still divided. People say its a spin-off because of the Hunter Arts, Hunting Styles, and lack of new monsters. Also the new weapon and armor upgrade system. It has the same gameplay though, so I say it's a main series game with somewhat different gameplay elements thrown in.
I already got on the MHX hype train for the Japanese release, I'm not letting myself do it all over again for a U.S. release. Too much stress
