If Nintendo researches successful marketing campaigns and their franchises it need not look much further than Pokémon, in which the big N naturally has a significant stake. During the 20th Anniversary celebrations last year and the launch of Pokémon GO followed by Pokémon Sun and Moon, we saw The Pokémon Company go big on promotions and marketing.

In some cases it's brought in high profile celebrities and athletes to promote the games, and the latest is all-time-great Olympian and 100m sprinter Usain Bolt. Coinciding with 'Pokémon Day', two short 15 second trailers from Japanese TV have been posted by the company on YouTube. These will likely get rolled out in the West rather soon.

Pokémon Sun and Moon continue to perform decently in charts, with Japanese and UK results being countries where the games are still shifting some copies.

It'll be interesting to see what moves The Pokémon Company makes with new releases this year, whether following rumours or unveiling other surprises.
