With the advent of the 3DS and still no mention of an ability to transfer licenses, my purchases of DSiWare are pretty much over. I do have some points already on my DSi left to spend, but after that all DSiWare purchases will stop, perhaps with rare exception. Anyone else feel the same way? That's the one disappointment out of E3 - no sign of a license transfer capability. If they aren't going to have a way to do that from DSi to 3DS, I sure hope they at least have the ability to transfer licenses on the 3DS (from 3DS to 3DS, and to some future portable.) Anyway, for me, DSiWare is dead.
I seem to recall that when Kinect, then Natal, was first shown, Miyamoto was quoted as saying that Nntendo had looked into similar technology, but rejected it because it didn't work well. If Microsoft has in fact succeeded where Nintendo failed, then I can't imagine Nntendo not BEng worried about Kinect's effect on the Wii. And you have to give it to Microsoft here - they knew they couldn't just release a Wii remote clone, they had to one up it. And it would appear they've succeeded, at least from a technical standpoint. And let's face it - a Kinect-based dance game, especially by Harmonix, and a Kinect fitness game could both well be system sellers, and the later could easily make Wii Fit and the balance board pretty utterly obsolete.
Just so you know, nintendolife didn't find this. I posted about it here in one of their previous articles, and I got it from somebody else on a different forum, so I didn't even find it. Not important, but it wasn't really a good find for nintendolife, just a good job picking up on the story.
Competition is good. Even if you don't have a PS3 (I don't), it will mean better things for the Wii as well. If Nintendo is worried about being one-upped, then they will make sure they aren't.
Why even review this thing? Does anyone see this on the store and think it's worth downloading? I suppose there are some, but I doubt they read reviews.
I'm not a big fan of 3D platformers in general as even the best of them involve fighting the camera more then anything else, and that's not something I find particularly fun. Having said that, this game interests me anyway. I've not even played the first one more then a few minutes, yet I want the sequel. I don't know why.
Ok, so it's only 200 points, but I've already got a ridiculous backlog on all the platforms. In that kind of environment I don't see buying a mediocre game just because its cheap.
Tiger '11 is going to have online disc golf. I don't know about a career mode. Probably not. The main problem with Tiger's disc golf is that it isn't on disc golf courses, rather on regular golf courses, and that's boring. Real disc golf courses having you arcing the disc around trees and such. If this game (zoo disc golf) is any good, I might just forget about tiger, even with online, and go with this instead.
I wonder if it really has to do with extra time needed for development or if it really has to do with picking a better time to release it. There's lots of stuff coming this summer and maybe they don't want to be snowed under.
I enjoyed the original sonic games, but Sonic was always a reaction to Super Mario Bros, and never anything great of its own. Their gimmick was to make him fast, but that meant that the game was mostly about trial and error and memorization. Not that it won't be fun, but it's still something short of greatness.
If you think this is bad, you ought to see the iPhone version that they released a short while back, Frogger Inferno. It's exactly the same as the other version they have on the iPhone except for one big change. The big addition? You can't retrace your steps. Wow. Talk about an improvement!
Bejeweled is a game I've never been able to appreciate. It's largely dependent on what happens to fall in from the top, and not so much on what you choose to do. Sure, there is some strategy, but it's mostly just a matter of clicking what's available and hoping that what falls in from the top is good. That's fine, but it doesn't keep my interest long.
This jibes with my experiences with Sony's Eye Toy on the PS2. I never once was able to get to work even remotely well, which makes you wonder why they even bothered with this concept here. I have my doubts that a contrast control or anything would have made any difference whatsoever.
I'd actually be very interested in a Just Dance sequel that used Wii motion plus. I mean the game is fun to play to an extent, but if you are at all into the idea of scoring in dance games (i.e. games like DDR), it will drive you mad, given the inaccuracy of the remote. So Just Dance with Wii Motion Plus would make a lot of sense. Then again, maybe not, as I think most people that like Just Dance don't really give a hoot about the scoring. They just want to do what the title says.
I'm hesitant to pick this up. It sounds like another in a line of games that seem to be trying to "one up" Canabalt, but perhaps miss the point: the simplicity of it, matched with great music and retro visuals makes for a just one more time addictiveness. I'm not sure that adding complexity will improve things.
I'm not buying any of the Super Mario games until they release Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, so I suggest they do so! Bit Trip Runner... I wish they had demos. What happened to demos? Was it a flop? Why?
I picked this up yesterday. At first I was perplexed by the jump required at the end, but a look up in the manual solved that. Probably the most addicting G&W game I've played and definitely worth the asking price.
Gamestop does fine with pre-order bonuses if you pre-order it online. In store its more troublesome. Online orders, though, they get the bonuses every time.
Sin & Punishment, I doubt was ever expected to top the sales charts. If they planned for niche-level sales from the start, they no doubt will make money on it.
Complaining about the number of titles seems a bit off, considering the quality of the titles they've put out recently. If we get 6 top-tier, Wii-only games, that's going to be awesome. Of course they might not all be top tier, and then we'll have reason to to complain, but I'll wait before passing judgement.
Oh, and paid online sucks. And I do pay for the 360's online, but I hate it, and it really sucks if you have kids. If they want to play an online game with their account, we'd have to pay for them too, and that's not going to happen. Not to mention that if they use my account, then my friends are on there, not just there's. It's pretty aggravating/stupid. This could be avoided, though, by having the online fee be per console, though. Then I wouldn't mind paying $35 a year for online play, as long as the service was dramatically improved from what it is now, to at least be equal to the 360.
I disagree that we just need one FC per console. No, we need one FC per account. Really it's not an FC at all, just accounts with their own separate settings and friend lists. So my kids can have their own friend lists and my friends aren't on their lists. Just having a single FC per console is a half measure, and a rather poor one, especially given that Nintendo tries to be family friendly. They need accounts and parental controls that can be set for individual accounts. That's the answer.
Ok, but I looked at the list and there really isn't much there. Most of it either has the stench of shovelware, or is crossplatform stuff such as Madden '11 and Rock Band 3. Not that there's anything wrong with the latter kind, but I don't see much to get excited about. Overall the list is pretty unexciting for all platforms. Hopefully better stuff is coming.
@ninjablaze - I think they mean "given that it's not in HD...."
Games can look great on the Wii. Look at Punchout. That game looks absolutely fantastic and having it in HD would probably not make an appreciable difference. FYI, yes, I have a 360 and do play it in HD. I can't say how S&P:SS looks, though, seeing how I haven't ever seen it in person.
They really, really need to address the license and save file transfer issue. I would like this bundle, but without the ability to transfer everything myself it's not happening. Sending off the Wii's to have it done by Nintendo? They've got to be kidding. Surely they could put out a do-it-yourself transfer kit.
How about in the US? I purchased a copy, but I haven't had a lot of time to play it yet. So far, with what little I've plays so far, it's quite fun, though.
Online disc golf is what has sold it to me, but of course now there is no online mini golf. They're probably holding that for '12. Still, I'm definitely looking forward to this. I traded in my '10 version now while the value is still good. Actually the other thing selling it to me are the crazy deals (in the US at least). A $20 gaming credit at Amazon, for example. That makes the upgrade easier to take.
I am so happy that 2D has made a resurgence. I've never really liked 3D platformers much due to fighting the camera not being any fun, and which seems to be the main activity in any 3D platformer, even the best of them.
I agree with those saying that ported from HD games are a mistake for the Wii, and I think it's pretty safe to say that that's what Capcom thinks now too, and bravo for them, and good for us. I'd rather have exclusives, and they are doing a great job with them. This game and Monster Hunter Tri - who can complain about how Capcom is treating the Wii these days?
I played this on the iPhone for 10 minutes or so and then deleted it. Maybe I should have given it more time, but I don't know. I didn't see what the fuss was about. I found it pretty boring and even a bit annoying. Just a lot of clicking (tapping) through dialogue.

I think we're going to see a lot of bundles from here until the 3DS comes out. I can only presume that DS/DSi sales are going to take a dive and that they didn't really want the 3DS news to get out so early. This is a pretty weak effort, though, given that it's not a unique design DSi. Just a DSi and game bundle. Pretty lame.
I thought I read that Pokemon Black/White would be DS games. So they'd work on the 3DS, but not be for the 3DS. Maybe they'll be 3DS enhanced, though, if that's possible. I'm wondering if they are going to do something like they did with the GBC - 3D-ize 2D games. And just as badly. ;^)
My kids love Bass Mode and in fact my 8 year old finally was able to beat the game on Easy with him. I'm just about ready to give up trying to beat the game on Normal with Mega Man, so I might try it again, this time with Bass, with the hope I'll finally be able to beat it. Wish I could beat Wily's with MM so I could get a ranking, though. I wish they had separate ranking boards for the different characters and skill levels. Oh well. Maybe MM11?

Re: E3 2010: Miyamoto Unexcitedly Scopes Out Xbox Kinect
You folks might want to check out the top 3 current video game best sellers at amazon.com, particular #2, and even #3:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=amb_link_6856902_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=109T9N3FCV43XH4JAGC4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1264267082&pf_rd_i=468642
Nintendo got this started, but I think calling Kinect a failure may be a tad premature.
