Re: First Look - Pop Plus: Solo

I'm not sure I get the appeal of this game. You just tap bubbles as fast as you can while avoiding bad ones? That seems like it would have only limited appeal. I certainly got bored watching the video of it. Maybe there is more to this then I realize?

Re: Review: Real Football 2009 (DSiWare)

Does the cartridge version of this game have internet play? If so, that would give me pause in buying this download version. Still, this is the closest thing we've got to a "real" game so far, so I may just buy it in order to support that notion. I hope it tops the charts for some time to come, hopefully sending Nintendo a message.

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (6th May)

Do we know if NOA has ever updated Bit.Trip.Beat such that it no longer has the game save bug? That is, it only saves your progress if you get a high score. That bug does not exist in the versions distributed in other countries. Do they ever release updated versions of WiiWare games?

Re: Ten Game Boy Games You Should Be Playing

Crunchewy

I just finished SUPER MARIO LAND 2: 6 GOLDEN COINS, and that was the first time I'd played it (I don't mean I completed it in one session, I mean when I started playing it a short while back it was the first time I'd ever played it.) It is really a great game. Thanks for this list of other games I need to check out.

Re: WiiWare Sales Targets: More Details Emerge

They need to do the same thing the've done with the DSi - give a free 1000 (or whatever number) of points to you when you connect to the store for the first time (though I'd also give it to anyone who has never bought a WiiWare or VC game). That will get people into the idea of buying games in the download store and I think would lead to a higher percentage of Wii owners buying stuff from the store (not just with the free points.)

Re: Review: Dr. Mario Express (DSiWare)

What justification is there for no having local wifi versus play at the least? And internet play? There's plenty of room for full featured games, even more full featured then DS cartridge games, especially once they update the DSi to support playing DSiWare from an SD card, which I have to presume they will be doing. It pisses me off that they give us gimped games. They seem to be doing so intentionally and I'm surprised how willing people seem to be to take it. Why did I buy this DSi? So I can play games with fewer features then GB games?

Re: More DSiWare Titles Revealed

Crunchewy

More disappointment. There's no reason why DSiWare titles have to be second rate DS versions/paid demos. DSiWare could blow away cartridge DS games, but we get this dreck. Nintendo thinks they have a winning formula it would seem and doesn't appear to want to break it. DSiWare should be selling the system, but not with stuff like this.

Re: Review: Nintendo DSi Browser (DSiWare)

Crunchewy

There is no saving grace - the browser can not be used to enable DS games to use public wifi that requires a web page login, license agreement, etc. I got to try this today and it didn't work. How could you give this worthless browser 7 stars? FYI, this works perfectly with the iPod touch. Sigh. I'm feeling a bit down about my archaic DSi.

Re: Review: Nintendo DSi Browser (DSiWare)

Crunchewy

You folks seem to have gotten a different browser from me, because the one I downloaded from the shop is insanely slow to the point of being utterly useless. Unless you like watching paint dry. It may be that I'm spoiled having an iPod touch, but I can't be that spoiled. The DSi browser I got is utterly terrible. The only saving grace will be if it let's me use free/pay wifi services by letting me log in and then load a game, in order to play online. I hope to test that out shortly.

Re: Review: Bonsai Barber (WiiWare)

Does this game require you to play every day in order to avoid getting complaining customers? I ask because my kids, while school is in session, don't get to play video games every day. I'm trying to find a good game to suggest they download and maybe this is one, but I don't want a game that pushes you to play every day when they can't.

Re: Review: Pit Crew Panic! (WiiWare)

Crunchewy

My son bought this game today and I want to note that in the game your crew members are all women and my 8 year-old son was upset by the fact that there is no way to change them to boys. Also my wife was upset by the sexualized images for children. Now... we should have looked at a game-play video before purchasing, so it was a lesson learned. I figured I'd pass this info onto others so they could avoid the same problem. Myself, I thought the game was pretty fun in the little bit I played it.

Re: Review: Mappy (Arcade)

I like Mappy, but $5 seems like a lot for it. This game has been on Namco collections before and there you get other games too, and those collections are cheap.

Re: Rejoice! The DSi Gets a Virtual Console After All

Crunchewy

See the update on the article. Nintendo reports that you will not be able to play downloaded games from an SD card. Also they say that a VC in North America isn't official. A VC seems obvious, though, so I'd count on that at some point, if not at launch, but Nintendo seems to still be too paranoid to let you play VC games from an SD card. In any case, it will almost certainly all be locked to a specific DSi anyway, which is a deal killer for me - physical cartridges you can share with your family and friends, but DSiWare? What are you going to do? Pass your DSi's back and forth so you can play the right game on the right DSi? Ridiculous. Apple lets you install downloaded programs on multiple iPod Touches/iPhones. Nintendo should do the same.
