Re: Sony Gaming Boss On The "Great Experiences" Available On Switch And A More Open Future

@ThanosReXXX Turns out Shawn wasn't complimenting the Switch. He opened up about how he thinks we're living in a Post-Console World. Here's the full link:
https://www.denofgeek.com/uk/games/playstation/63358/playstation-ps5-shawn-layden-post-console-world-next-generation

https://www.gameinformer.com/interview/2019/02/11/shawn-layden-on-playstation-and-the-future

Of course, I wouldn't expect a Nintendo based site to comprehend what Shawn is on about, so this guy just focused on the little bit that mattered to him. Without context, there's no headline. You misunderstood Shawn.

@patbacknitro18 Those comments were made by Yoshida, lol. You should read the comments from John Kodera and Shawn Layden, they're the ones who run PlayStation, here it is:
https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/09/26/extended-fortnite-cross-play-beta-launches-on-ps4-starting-today/
https://www.usgamer.net/amp/sonys-shawn-layden-on-ps4-cross-play-were-looking-at-a-lot-of-the-possibilities
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/amp/2018-10-01-playstation-boss-shawn-layden-explains-why-ps4-cross-play-took-so-long

They addressed it a few times, it's just overlooked every time because it's not Sony-arrogant (despite making me laugh every time). It's not a networking issue by the way. They had a policy that doesn't allow them to. Change policies in a company is not easy.

@patbacknitro18 @AlexSora89 That's not where I have a problem. Where I have a problem is when people say Sony is arguably rejecting Crossplay, despite them already having accepted it. Sure, they're taking a little longer, but they have priorities for 2019—changing policies and having meetings with networking partners regarding crossplay is at the least of their concerns at the moment.

Another thing that grinds my gears is when people keep shoving in PlayStation's face they don't have backwards compatibility. Neither does the Switch and we don't complain, do we? Inb4 "Different storage mediums", Playstation 4 has a different architecture. Different limitations for everyone. PS5 was already confirmed to have the same architecture as PS4—it doesn't take a genius to guess what comes with that.

Another comment said Shawn Layden only said this because he's afraid of the expansion of Xbox Live....

You're not ignorant because you have an opinion, information is out there for everyone to read. In the same sense, you're ignorant when you make preposterous claims that have already been clarified/ proven wrong in the past.
(Sorry for the long paragraph, but you did ask to expand)

Re: Feature: 5 Times Sony Shamelessly Copied Nintendo

@beazlen1 You can play PS4 games on a Sony Xperia (a mobile phone series made by Sony's Electronic subsidairy) and PS Vita (a handheld gaming device manufactured and designed by Sony SIE)

The more you know. Information is the key of life.

@Rika_Yoshitake I'd say the ones that think Nintendo hasn't done worse than just keeping up with the lastest trend, which God forbid a company for trying to be competitive. But you forgive and forget Nintendo for plagiarism. If you don't want to look like a hypocrite, I'd advise you to not speak on the matter.

Re: Feature: 5 Times Sony Shamelessly Copied Nintendo

Ohh fanboy fuel!!
I bet you won't talk about things Nintendo has plagiarized. I won't talk about it either, it's a lot. But just so we're clear, staying up with the competitive market and downright plagiarized are 2 different things.

Have fun.

Re: Panic Button Dreams Of Porting Horizon Zero Dawn To Nintendo Switch

@onex I mean yeah, if your opinion is final, little I can do to change it, I'll tell you this though, HDZ is like Monster Hunter, but 10 times more deadly when it comes to gameplay.

Rockstar is beast in both, GTA V is by far the best cinematic game experience I had (until God of War). Their gameplay is outstanding, but you can see that it's casual too. It doesn't require you years to master, like how someone would need to master platforming in Super Mario, despite being an excellent game, it's not hardcore. I'm on the same boat there, mate, RDR, LA Noire, I need to finish all of those.

Re: Panic Button Dreams Of Porting Horizon Zero Dawn To Nintendo Switch

Callmegil

@onex That is fair enough. If in case you still have a slight interest in trying their IPs, they have (way) less story-driven games available, my personal favourite: Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2.

In my own personal perspective, story is the most important aspect of a single player game. Gameplay will always be there and original in it's own right, but a good story is hard to achieve. If I'm going to save a princess, I need to know why. Shawn Layden, Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, said their aspirations with video games is to move us, makes us laugh, cry, question moral values, overall deliver a widen experience in gaming. And it's not just Sony, Rockstar does it too with the GTA series and Red Dead Redemption series. Look at this: What Remains of Edith Finch is pure story and gameplay is slightly minimal, but it didn't stop it from getting a Best Game award. Critics know the importance of a story and value it just as much as gameplay.

Again, this is all personal taste, but to form a critical judgement, one requires an open mind and actually play the games from start to finish, not midway through with a friend or watching gameplay online. One shouldn't share feedback, positive or negative, if these were the means for you to come to such conclusion.

Re: Panic Button Dreams Of Porting Horizon Zero Dawn To Nintendo Switch

@onex May I have a go at that?

Your argument is that you're not interested in HZD because it has less environmental physics in comparison with a game that is a complete different genre and has a complete different play style? Is that it? Horizon Zero Dawn was Guerrilla's first ever attempt at blockbuster title, of course they have different priorities and on top of that they have a newly designed engine that we have no idea what is capable of (only 2 games have been developed on it) and you didn't take into account Nintendo is more experienced in that field and they have done it in previous titles (Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, Phantom Hourglass/ Spirit Tracks etc.).

Playstation only has 4 Interactive Movie games: Until Dawn (and The Inpatient), Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit Become Human. There's a serious distinctive difference in gameplay between those games and their adventure titles. I don't think you're being biased, but you are being dangerously arrogant towards their format. They don't do it because it's lazy, they do it because it sells.

Also, Smash can't be nominated for game of the year because it comes out when the nominations are already up. Only BAFTA and NAVGTR can give them awards. But BAFTA doesn't nominate Nintendo games for best game of the year, so your best bet is in NAVGTR.
