It looks like Don't Starve - the grim and Gothic survival simulator - is coming to Nintendo Switch next week. There's been no official announcement from developer Klei Entertainment as yet, but a listing on the Switch eShop (as spotted by Twitter user ContraNetwork) shows the popular indie hit is set to arrive on Thursday 12th April 2018.

The series has already had an outing on Nintendo, with 2015's Don't Starve: Giant Edition on Wii U, so a Nintendo Switch announcement was bound to happen eventually - in fact, it's surprising it's taken this long! It's priced at £17.99, so if you're looking to test your survival skills against the demonic wilds, you're in for a gruesome treat in a week's time.

Was a fun little game to play back when the ps4 launched. Should be right at home on the switch!
One of my favorite games from recent years. Great art style, great music, incredibly deep, absolutely addictive. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes open-ended gameplay in which you start from humble beginnings and build up something great.
I don't think I'll double dip, though, unless they add a non-permadeath mode. Starting a new Don't Starve file with a more laid back approach has long been a dream of mine.
The droughts continues
Don't Stave
I was going to get this game on the Wii U but did not...I think I have it on my Steam account but played for a little bit. So I will be buying it this time around...Also did you see that Spiro just got announce?
Wonder what DLC (if any) this will be bundled with? Thats a big jump in price for the base game. But then every game is jumping on the £17.99 bandwagon regardless what the game is normally priced as.
Looking at you Island Flight Simulator.
EDIT: Looks like it comes with Reign of Giants and Shipwrecked. Definitely makes that price more appetising.
I'm hoping Oxygen Not Included will show up on Switch as well (it's still in early access on Steam, though), since that game interests me.
Don't Starve Together would be (ahem - clears throat) 'a perfect fit for the Switch.' (tm) (c)2017
Have this on Wii u but never clicked. I should probably try it again
@therealgamer *drought or *continue...pick one lol. Oh and cry more.
This does suit the Switch perfectly. It's one of those pick up and play games that you either spend a lot of time with, or just a few minutes.
Another game I haven't got to but want to.
Neato, but I'll keep rooting for Invisible Inc. and Griftlands obviously. I'd be open to picking up Don't Starve on sale eventually, so as to own the entire Klei catalogue on one portable system.
Instabuy. Love this one on PC with a controller and iPad but always felt the touch controls were slightly lacking. Very excited!
For anyone curious, unlike the Wii U version, this version of Don't Starve includes the Shipwrecked DLC!! So you're getting more out of this version.
I was just playing Don't Starve on my Wii U the other day. As an original 2013 beta tester, of course I'm so excited to play it as a day one purchase!
Literally three days after I bought it on Android (yes, it's one of those games that CAN work on touchscreen alone). XD In my defence, I kinda assumed Switch would get the Together edition (I needn't explain the logic, need I?) and then I read it was a different experience from the single player ones.
Oh well - still gonna double-dip, and since the mobile one was a dollar on sale, I'd be a snob to complain. It's an immersive game full of depth and humour, and the availability of both touch and physical controls should work even better for it.
i wonder why they don’t realise don’t starve together version, as it would be perfect with split joycon local coop. i’ll pass this one until they release together version so i can play with my wife:)
That's cool. I'll wait for Don't Starve Together though.
I will maybe get this when they release the multi-player add on or game to it. Will be awesome to play coop on the Switch (and wonder if it will do cross-play)
(Wow I haven't commented on here in a real long time...)
I'm glad that this is finally on the Switch, but I have a good feeling that a physical release with DST is imminent. Probably a good idea to wait a few months for that announcement, especially if this is a double-dip purchase for anyone.
Btw, does anyone know if this is a port of the Wii U version? It didn't feel well optimized with the inventory being incredibly small for some strange reason on the Wii U; that might be for every console version though.
Absolutely love Don't Starve, was hoping it would get brought over to The Switch.
No interest in double dipping unless it gets a physical release though.
@therealgamer Stupid bot.
I love this game but hope it includes all the dlc for that price, including don’t starve: together.
Oh no... I don't like double dipping, but if this includes the multiplayer portion of the game, I will be getting it for sure. And hell, buying it for my friends who have the Switch and forcing them to play it with me.
@therealgamer
Agreed. I already said my Xbox due to lack of games. Now I'm thinking of doing the same with my PS4. Just nothing good coming out. Unless people get excited over Spyro 😂
Hmm, hopefully they released Together within the same as a DLC. That's the version that gets me moist.
This game was fun for an hour or 2. After playing BotW, don't even waste time on this. It's the same: gather food, resources and try not to die... except BotW is 100x better.
I have it on Wii U and I hoped a new Nintendo version would be the online multiplayer version Don't Starve Together. Well, this has some new DLC included, but playing online with friends is all I wanted.
So, yeah there's still tons of content left in my Wii U version. I'll keep playing that.
