Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo 3DS, A System That Still Has a Role to Play

The Switch should replace the 3DS line as it's a portable and home console. Plus the 3DS is embarrassingly low res compared to smart phones.
Bring Pokemon, Monster Hunter etc to Switch and it'll do incredibly well. If developers just continue to make games for the 3DS (as it's probably cheaper to) and don't support the Switch it won't go anywhere.
Make a portable-only, longer battery life edition of the Switch but don't go splitting the games up again... 1 Mario for Wii U, 1 for 3DS, 1 Mario Kart for Wii U, 1 for 3DS. You just end up competing with yourself.

Re: Editorial: Pricing Blunders Have Distorted The Narrative Around Nintendo Switch

The price of the console is exactly where I expected it, actually I wouldn't have been surprised if it was £300 instead of £280. I also didn't expect to get the switch grip included so to me that's a plus.
I'm pretty sure it cost me a similar amount for the 3ds when that launched, though I did get mine imported from the US because region-locking.
The accessories cost a ridiculous amount though and certain games should be cheaper, which I think they will be soon enough.

I'm happy just getting Zelda. I want Bomberman too and I'll pick up Mario Kart, Arms, Splatoon, Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania and Xenoblade.
That said, there is a surprising lack of 3rd party games/ports for the launch : S I guess after the Wii U developers are waiting to see if enough units sell for it to be worth it?
Or maybe it's harder than I assumed to port and scale existing PS4/XB1 games for the switch? Not that people want a ton of ports but it's what I'd have expected regardless...

Re: Talking Point: Ports vs. Sequels On The Nintendo Switch

My money is on them releasing ports of Wii U games, then a proper sequel down the line if/when they've got something interesting to add to the series and change it up.
It's a smart move, who doesn't want a Mario Kart & Smash Bros as launch titles, they're both perfect for local multiplayer and to show off the Switch and get other people wanting one too. Plus releasing with too few games has been a massive problem for Nintendo before...

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Be a Single-Screen Experience

This might actually explain the Mario Kart and Splatoon NS versions. Without a second screen no-one can do a lazy port of their Wii U title, they have to move all that stuff to the main screen/menu. If they're going that far I think they also chose to update the games in a few other ways, to increase the price since they had to put more time in.

I'm perfectly fine without the second screen. Did Bayonetta 2 use it for anything much? That's the only game I really want to see ported to NS
