So, taking into consideration that pretty much every 1st party title always scores either a 9 or a 10 on NintendoLife.. Them giving the game an 8 essentially means the game isn't any good. Or am I missing something here? 🤔
@aaronsullivan Ehm.. You do realize that, Nintendo being a company like any other, there are budgets for everything right? And when the money gets divided over several projects, ports also take up part of the budget... Budget that could have been spent on actual NEW games. THAT's who is hurt by this - people who actually want to play something new.
Since Nintendo's strategy for Switch games is to have them be produced as cheap as possible; it will be a port of 2, or 1 + 2, only. To be referred to as: 'Bayonetta XD' or 'Bayonetta Delux".
Don't be worried though, there will be plenty of new content - including new costumes. And the graphics will be in "Full HD". So all in all, definitely worth paying the full retail price for again.
Why are you all complaining? At least it's an actual retail game coming to the Switch. Something to play that is not a port of an existing Wii U game. Better than nothing. Be glad.
@holygeez03 I'm sorry but it's the exact definition of lazy. Same content, hardly any changes. DLC slapped in there; also content already available. Yes, slight improvement in graphics. But that's to be expected on a new console with better tech, would be weird if the graphics actually got worse.
As for new MK in the (near) future, that's pure speculation. There has never been a case so far of 2 MK iterations on one generation. I fail to understand why it all of a sudden makes sense to assume there will be another one on this generation. Especially given Nintendo's trackrecord as of late.
@Crono1973 I guess that makes sense. I would probably do the same if I was foolish enough to already own a Switch. What annoys me is that by people buying into this lazy effort, Nintendo is rewarded for it. You just know that in the Nintendo HQ they will be like: "So we just re-release the same games we released for Wii U as new for full price and people will swallow it? Great! Guys, change of plans..."
For years Wii U owners had to hear 'Please understand..', because they were shifting resources to 'new experiences'. Well, something clearly went wrong, because there are hardly any new experiences and the 'highlights' are ports.
Oh, and people, no, Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not enough to be entertained for the next 5 years. Even if Nintendo seems to think so. Just saying.
I'm trying to understand why people are so extremely hyped for this.
Zero new tracks. Few added characters. New and proper battle mode. But wait a minute.. That should have already been part of the original but was obviously scrapped only to be added now as 'NEW!'.
This all feels, just like Splatoon 2, as a very lazy and cheap effort by Nintendo. As little investment as possible. Whoever thinks that Nintendo needed years to 'develop' these 'new versions' is very naive. And the worst thing of all? Sell them for full price, as if it's a completely new game.. 🤔
Nintendo needs to stop being lazy and actually come up with something new.
I can't eve count how many times I've seen the headline "<Game title> is not coming to Switch". Basically, it seems like you can just insert any random game title in there, because nothing seems to be ever coming to the Switch.
And at the same time, Nintendo is basically like "Guys, we've given you Zelda: BOTW, so be quiet okay? Thanks". As if people will never want nothing else.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Thank you! Finally somebody says it. I'm constantly surprised how people, especially here, get over the fact that they have been majorly screwed so easily. Like, do you not ser what's happening here? Sigh..
@Nintendo69 Exactly, yes. Sales will be disappointing, and the 3rd party company will just be like "We tried, didn't work. Sorry!", and another 3rd party publisher bites the dust (in other words, no more Switch support).
In addition, it would also make more sense for them to have some kind of event centered around the legendaries from Generation 1 first, before moving on to Generation 2.
It makes no sense for them to release Generation 2 in December (or in early 2017 for that matter). The weather is too cold and wet for people to leave their warm homes to go hunting for Pokemon.
What they have to do first is release an update that adds functionalities that can be used indoor. Such as trading, player versus player or training. Generation 2 should be released in Spring 2017 at the earliest, when the days are longer and the temperatures go up. Only this way will it lapse people back into the game, not during winter.
I wonder why Nintendo is so set on pissing it's fans off so much. I just can't understand the fact that they literally have nothing coming out for Wii U anymore. And are just like; "We're taking break guys, see you guys next year!". How in the world? I just can't comprehend this.
It's pissing me of the point where I'm no longer planning to buy anything they release, because I'm frustrated and fed up with this crap they serve. Year after year, we're hearing this B/S. Ughh.
@Xenocity I pretty much have all 1st party releases. I'm not saying they should rush the NX, either.
Like you mentioned; the last year of a console cycle usually does not feature many releases. I agree with you on that. However, it's not like we've had an abundance of releases since E3 2015. Already back then Nintendo's focus was shifting to the NX. So basically we'll have 2 years of Nintendo being like: "Yeah, we're not really releasing major titles anymore, because yeah NX and stuff". But then to still say.. "No NX news on E3 2016" simply is unacceptable. After all those years of Nintendo dangling the NX in front of us, they have to give us SOMETHING. ANYTHING. :/
@Xenocity My main point was not that the NX is not launching in 2016. It's about the fact that they are not revealing the NX at E3, and will focus everything on Zelda only. Yeah, sure and Pokemon. But I do not have a 3DS, so this game has no relevance to me. There are literally no Wii U games coming out. Like.. at all.
What is wrong with Nintendo? Do they not want our money? NX not launching in 2016 is one thing.. But to not even announce it during E3, and only have 1 GAME... Yes, 1 GAME.. playable? A game, mind you, that is not even due in 2016? Literally what are we supposed to play until March 2017 then? How in the world can they make business decisions like this? This is so stupid, I can hardly believe it to be true. Nintendo has never disappointed me this much before.
I don't see how anyone could doubt that Star Fox Zero is delayed.
For the Wii U, this month we have The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Pokken Tournament. After that, the only (physical retail) releases scheduled are Star Fox Zero, and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic games (but who honestly cares about this one). And then.. supposedly Zelda Wii U in Nov-Dec. So, yeah... No, we're not getting Star Fox Zero in April, because that would leave us with May, June, July, August, September and October with nothing more than the mentioned Mario & Sonic game. Therefor, they will delay Star Fox Zero till somewhere during summer, to "spread" their releases more equally over 2016.
I've been disappointed so often by Nintendo these last couple of years. Their E3 2014 was rock-solid, but from E3 2015 it all went downwards. I'm not getting my hopes up for this Nintendo Direct, because I don't want to be dissapointed again.
I think this is the best way to go, because if you don't have any expectations it can only get better from there. Guess we'll find out tonight.
Is there something of a single player mode? Perhaps a campaign/story/championship kind of thing? Something for single players to actually "work towards" something?
I'm very interested in this game. But I need something of a story/campaign to work through. If it's just local and online multiplayer, I'll be bored extremely fast.
Ah yes, and there will be some more Mario Maker stuff. Because nothing else really matters than to keep rehashing the exact same games till eternity with minor changes.
Don't get your hopes up. Nothing really special will be announced. Some Mario Tennis, some Animal Crossing, some Xenoblade Chronicles, Zelda Twilight Princess HD, some Splatoon update, and some indie games nobody really gives a sh-t about. That's all.
Remember guys, earlier this year (ahum E3) Nintendo decided it didn't want people to be surprised anymore, lol.
@Misterman I have, I'm just not the builder/creative type so it's not really my thing. For the people who are, I imagine, this must be great.
I would be more interested in learning more about XCX, Pokken Tournament (and even Mario Tennis). Instead we are repeatedly spammed with every tinny little detail surrounding Super Mario Maker. Blergh.
I mean like, it feels like for month's all Nintendo talks about is Super Mario Maker. Like it's the only game that matters. Or perhaps it's the overall lack of retail games coming out for Wii U that contributes to the over-hyped attitude towards this game ("THANK GOD, FINALLY SOMETHING GETS RELEASED"). I could understand that, though.
I really don't get why everyone is so hyped about this game. It feels a bit like a cheap/easy move on Nintendo's part. A new Mario game (or any thing else, really), would have been way better. :/

Re: Pokémon on Nintendo Switch is Due '2018 or Later', But That's No Surprise
I've been very critical of the Switch and Nintendo's lineup so far. But in all honesty, I would buy a Switch for this game in a heartbeat.
Re: Review: Splatoon 2 (Switch)
@SLIGEACH_EIRE NintendoLife will never say something bad about Nintendo or any of it's 1st party games. This 10/10 was to be expected.
Re: Beach Buggy Racing Screeches Onto Switch Next Week
I do understand the excitement though, as there is not much else to play on the Switch. Something is better than nothing, I guess.
Re: Pokémon GO Celebrates First Birthday With Special Hat-Wearing Pikachu
The press release clearly states "from now through July 13", not "from July 13th".

And in other news; water is wet.
Why is this even a surprise? There's hardly anything else to play/buy.
So yeah, obviously it will do well.
