I'm not sure the actual amount of indie games released on XB/PS over the last couple of years but I can honestly say I only bought a dozen or so. From the free Gold/PS Plus offerings I maybe enjoyed half of them? I honestly bought more indies on my Wii U. And in the future, especially if it's a multiplayer game, I'll be buying for the Switch. I'm already hyped for at least 10 of the Nindie showcase games. I'll take hand picked games which fit the system over a splattershot, release everything approach any day.
@Gauchorino anyone not receiving a Wii U version has the right to feel whatever they like. But there's no way these people gave enough money to cover the cost of a Wii U version all themselves. That extra cost to create the Wii U version cuts into the budget for the version a possible few million may play. It sucks to be them but no one with any kind of business mind would make a Wii U version.
It's late 2016 now. In 18 months the NX will be a year old and my OG PS4 may be obsolete. I don't even expect my Wii U to be connected to my tv. As a backer, I say cancelling the Wii U version is the only decision. Anyone annoyed right now will most likely be over it by the time this game is released.
Rhetorical question: What does this guy think a PS4 fan is? Everyone who reads that comment will have a different answer. The "it won't appeal to PS4 fans" comment is so vague and open to interpretation it becomes almost meaningless. For the record I enjoy my PS4 and can't wait for NX.
I would hope we get a great lineup in the first 6 months of the NX's life. Pokemon, Mario, and I'll add Monster Hunter to my list of priorities if I was organising the launch lineup.
@scamander I say English speaking PAL region because it's obviously been translated into English for the American market. I was at no point making a reference to the English speaking Europeans receiving the game before non English speaking Europeans. There has been no Nintendo Wii U title since Captain Toad, Kirby has no reason to be held back from European release. Even more reason to release it now if, like you're saying, it's struggling in the European market.
I'll get it whenever Nintendo choose to release it for Europe and Oceania. I don't understand the logic of making the English speaking PAL regions wait. It's not like we are getting any other Wii U games in its stead.
Simply put, non 3DS owners now have a choice of 3 DS variants. Current 3DS owners have one choice to upgrade. Either you will or you won't, though the majority of people wanting to upgrade will. The minority holding out can either wait for the smaller variant or upgrade to the XL. Seriously, the number of people complaining in comment sections are a drop in the ocean and not indicative of the entire 3DS market. Consumers are like small children, they always want what they can't have.
@Haru17 actually you are reading the edited story now. Initially every instance of reference was "he". I'm not so pedantic that I would point out a clerical error.
Played it on the original PlayStation and loved the premise. Hulk positioning on the gamepad and first person combat on the tv in real time would be perfect. Haven't played the PC version but it looks like it would fit beautifully on the Wii U.
Getting all 4. Lone Survivor and The Swapper are no brainers for me. Love that line "release dates, which are worldwide". Really happy they're coming to Australia.
Played through a couple of times now. If this game doesn't get your adrenaline pumping… you'd better check your pulse! It's cruel to get such a small teaser… I'm gonna go play it again XD
The twitter post was hastily removed... Has there been official confirmation now?
Edit: early reports stated this tweet was removed. I have been advised otherwise, thanks @sdcazares1980
Apologies for the misinformation.
Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2 and Fatal Frame all release in the same month. Smash Bros and Yokai Watch are dominating 3ds sales. How much disposable income do we expect Japanese people to have? I would expect Bayonetta 2 and Fatal Frame to continue to sell well, without being spectacular, for a few months.
@Kolzig forgot to mention I'm in Australia. Different ratings board means different fees associated with our local releases. Lots of Indies don't want to pay the fee for our small population. Hopefully the new laws they just passed makes it easier and less costly.
I have enjoyed the extended coverage. Not overly sure if I like the treehouse crew or if I'm just stoked that I'm being fed more information. Either way I'm happy to see more. Considering they test and localise for western audiences I hope to get some info regarding Fatal Frame during the 8 hour live stream...
I'm giving Ubisoft until the end of September to announce a date. When the inevitable happens and there's no announcement I'll cancel my preorder. That's a real shame. It was fully paid off too.
@Ufaowl it means it's cheaper to outsource each individual game for localization to a third party company. Probably for a set price as opposed to paying staff on contract. I would suggest as consumers we will see no ill effects from this. Business decisions like these usually positively impact efficiency.
@IxC If Nintendo take the two DLC packs(16 new courses and 6 new characters) and add that to returning characters and courses from Mario Kart 8 they could create Mario Kart 9... And it would be a complete game. They would/could justifiably charge full price. By your logic MK9 would be preferable to these 2 DLC packs, which are drastically cheaper than a full priced game. I have no problem with your opinion, it just appears to not be based on a logical assessment of what's on offer.
Miyamoto stated in March that Retro were at the point where they could handle multiple projects in development. I'm personally hoping for a third person open world metroid. Think Mass Effect vs Tomb Raider... I can dream.
Fairly over the bullpoopoodoodoocacapoopledoople excuses. I would rather they actually come out and say "we don't want to put the time, effort and money into it"
Amazing... Capcom will no doubt quote the usual install base crap for no Wii U port of SF IV. It's a shame the market isn't representative of most Wii U comments boards. If a company chose to support Wii U and announce it openly, then followed up with a high quality port, surely Wii U owners would flock to support this company and buy its releases. I honestly think the support base is large enough to make it profitable now... I just wonder if a third party is ready and fearless enough to take that step.
Current placeholder price in Australia is $29.95AUD I love the look of them... And I'm not cheap... But that's too much. I hope and assume the price will be more like $19.95AUD. Far more accessible then.
@Cyberbotv2 I hear ya. I'm a Nintendo fanboy first and foremost but today I saw reasons to buy a PS4 and XB One. I will be buying all 3 consoles for the first time in the same gen.
I hope Nintendo show us something new to compete with the hype from Gamescon. They may lose all their momentum if they don't.
Personally I'd like SMT x FE news, Fatal Frame western release announcement, Next Level Games and Retro Studios to announce what they're working on. Hell, I'd take any new info right now though.
@ricklongo like the Microsoft reveal of Tomb Raider as an XBone exclusive? That was outa left field... But yeah, a nice little reveal is required to keep up momentum. Can't have MS and Sony getting all the attention after Gamescon. It would be remiss of Nintendo to just sit on their hands.
Would've been the perfect time to sneak in a Fatal Frame European release announcement. I guess they are keeping Fatal Frame and Devils Third separate from the other Wii U exclusives because of the content but still...
Played the original and it's fair to say there's no amount of remaking the game to make it playable. It's only good for nostalgic reasons for the few thousand people who actually bought it. In this case, when the original game is a load of garbage, the remake cannot be any better unless it's a completely new game.
It's great that more gamers get a chance to play this amazing game. But whatever happened to repaying your initial customers? It's called good fan service... This is the equivalent of Capcom giving Nintendo gamers the finger.
@Hero-of-WiiU me too man. I've been hoping that Nintendo approached Shin'en about the F-Zero IP. Or at least get some Captain Falcon action in FAST Racing NEO. But I'm still hyped, even if my little pipe dream doesn't come to fruition.
I personally couldn't care less. I rarely buy a game for its online play. To me it's a bonus, not a requirement. Like Nintendo, I prefer to socialise in person, not via a headset. Local co-op with a few mates and beers wins every time. If that makes me old school, so be it.
@noctowl I understand what you're saying but it's a naive and narrow view of the world. China's gaming industry grew 34% from 2012 - 2013, of which 94% of it's gaming is online. Japan and China lead the world for purchasing Mobile games. A cheaper system will allow Nintendo to appeal to a larger % of the population than MS and Sony.
Africa and China may well have more important things to deal with in general, but there are still enough people with means to purchase gaming consoles in both. I have visited China for my work so I have a fairly good understanding of their purchase habits, etc. My estimate is that 5% of the population will purchase a console(either home or handheld) this generation, a modest amount compared to the number of gamers in China already.
Honestly if Nintendo want to win China, they will need to nail online and micro transactions. They are trying with Sub Wars on 3DS. Pokemon could absolutely explode, as well as Yokai Watch.
Microsoft and Sony will sell millions of units, but only to a very small % of the population. Bare in mind there's 1.35billion people in China, just 5% saturation still amounts to 67.5 million sales. The Wii with a decent built in hard drive has the whole back catalogue of gamecube games which it should come bundled with. Would be cost effective and great entry level gaming for China. We are seeing the return of the Gamecube controller for the Wii U so hopefully we see some Gamecube games on our Virtual Console. Win win for everyone.
Nintendo's E3 Digital Event started with Reggie stating Nintendo's best marketing slogan. "There's nothing wrong with having a little fun." Reggie's speech left me motivated, proud and excited to be watching and really set the mood perfectly. From that moment they haven't put a foot wrong.
How anyone can write off a game at this stage of development is beyond my comprehension. I look forward to seeing the games progression... And the implementation of the gamepad.
@Videogamer123 I did read something about Aonuma referring to the issues in getting from one place in Kyoto to another, how you need to plan the trip. And how's he's attempting to implement that feeling into the new Zelda game. It gives a sense of scope/size but nothing definitive. Unless you were referring to another article, which is quite possible
It's different from every other game in my collection, so that's a big "yes" for me. That online has so much possibility, hopefully there's good ongoing support and a devoted online community. Caveat: I hope they polish up the collision detection and make the character animation more fluent. It's unfinished so I give it the benefit of the doubt.
