Re: Developer Survey Reveals Worrying Lack Of Interest In Nintendo Switch

AndyWARbear

I'm not sure the actual amount of indie games released on XB/PS over the last couple of years but I can honestly say I only bought a dozen or so. From the free Gold/PS Plus offerings I maybe enjoyed half of them? I honestly bought more indies on my Wii U. And in the future, especially if it's a multiplayer game, I'll be buying for the Switch. I'm already hyped for at least 10 of the Nindie showcase games. I'll take hand picked games which fit the system over a splattershot, release everything approach any day.

Re: Koji Igarashi on the Wii U Port of Bloodstained

AndyWARbear

@Gauchorino anyone not receiving a Wii U version has the right to feel whatever they like. But there's no way these people gave enough money to cover the cost of a Wii U version all themselves. That extra cost to create the Wii U version cuts into the budget for the version a possible few million may play. It sucks to be them but no one with any kind of business mind would make a Wii U version.

Re: Koji Igarashi on the Wii U Port of Bloodstained

AndyWARbear

It's late 2016 now. In 18 months the NX will be a year old and my OG PS4 may be obsolete. I don't even expect my Wii U to be connected to my tv.
As a backer, I say cancelling the Wii U version is the only decision. Anyone annoyed right now will most likely be over it by the time this game is released.

Re: Sources Suggest That Pokémon and Mario Will Arrive on Nintendo NX in First Six Months

AndyWARbear

Rhetorical question: What does this guy think a PS4 fan is? Everyone who reads that comment will have a different answer. The "it won't appeal to PS4 fans" comment is so vague and open to interpretation it becomes almost meaningless. For the record I enjoy my PS4 and can't wait for NX.

I would hope we get a great lineup in the first 6 months of the NX's life. Pokemon, Mario, and I'll add Monster Hunter to my list of priorities if I was organising the launch lineup.

Re: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse Developers Give Background on Design Decisions

AndyWARbear

@scamander I say English speaking PAL region because it's obviously been translated into English for the American market. I was at no point making a reference to the English speaking Europeans receiving the game before non English speaking Europeans.
There has been no Nintendo Wii U title since Captain Toad, Kirby has no reason to be held back from European release. Even more reason to release it now if, like you're saying, it's struggling in the European market.

Re: Nintendo of America Issues Non-Statement on the Region Skipping the Smaller New Nintendo 3DS

AndyWARbear

Simply put, non 3DS owners now have a choice of 3 DS variants. Current 3DS owners have one choice to upgrade. Either you will or you won't, though the majority of people wanting to upgrade will. The minority holding out can either wait for the smaller variant or upgrade to the XL. Seriously, the number of people complaining in comment sections are a drop in the ocean and not indicative of the entire 3DS market. Consumers are like small children, they always want what they can't have.

Re: Full Extent of Nintendo of Europe Job Cuts Becomes Clear

AndyWARbear

@Ufaowl it means it's cheaper to outsource each individual game for localization to a third party company. Probably for a set price as opposed to paying staff on contract. I would suggest as consumers we will see no ill effects from this. Business decisions like these usually positively impact efficiency.

Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features Zelda, F-Zero And Animal Crossing

AndyWARbear

@IxC If Nintendo take the two DLC packs(16 new courses and 6 new characters) and add that to returning characters and courses from Mario Kart 8 they could create Mario Kart 9... And it would be a complete game. They would/could justifiably charge full price.
By your logic MK9 would be preferable to these 2 DLC packs, which are drastically cheaper than a full priced game. I have no problem with your opinion, it just appears to not be based on a logical assessment of what's on offer.

Re: Yokai Watch 2 Passes Two Million Sales in Japan as Wii U Sales Increase

AndyWARbear

Amazing... Capcom will no doubt quote the usual install base crap for no Wii U port of SF IV. It's a shame the market isn't representative of most Wii U comments boards. If a company chose to support Wii U and announce it openly, then followed up with a high quality port, surely Wii U owners would flock to support this company and buy its releases. I honestly think the support base is large enough to make it profitable now... I just wonder if a third party is ready and fearless enough to take that step.

Re: Nintendo Unleashes An Awesome Trailer Showing Off Upcoming Wii U Exclusives

AndyWARbear

@Cyberbotv2 I hear ya. I'm a Nintendo fanboy first and foremost but today I saw reasons to buy a PS4 and XB One. I will be buying all 3 consoles for the first time in the same gen.
I hope Nintendo show us something new to compete with the hype from Gamescon. They may lose all their momentum if they don't.
Personally I'd like SMT x FE news, Fatal Frame western release announcement, Next Level Games and Retro Studios to announce what they're working on. Hell, I'd take any new info right now though.

Re: Orders Open For Xbox One in China as Nintendo Looks On

AndyWARbear

@noctowl I understand what you're saying but it's a naive and narrow view of the world. China's gaming industry grew 34% from 2012 - 2013, of which 94% of it's gaming is online. Japan and China lead the world for purchasing Mobile games. A cheaper system will allow Nintendo to appeal to a larger % of the population than MS and Sony.
Africa and China may well have more important things to deal with in general, but there are still enough people with means to purchase gaming consoles in both. I have visited China for my work so I have a fairly good understanding of their purchase habits, etc. My estimate is that 5% of the population will purchase a console(either home or handheld) this generation, a modest amount compared to the number of gamers in China already.
Honestly if Nintendo want to win China, they will need to nail online and micro transactions. They are trying with Sub Wars on 3DS. Pokemon could absolutely explode, as well as Yokai Watch.

Re: Orders Open For Xbox One in China as Nintendo Looks On

AndyWARbear

Microsoft and Sony will sell millions of units, but only to a very small % of the population. Bare in mind there's 1.35billion people in China, just 5% saturation still amounts to 67.5 million sales.
The Wii with a decent built in hard drive has the whole back catalogue of gamecube games which it should come bundled with. Would be cost effective and great entry level gaming for China. We are seeing the return of the Gamecube controller for the Wii U so hopefully we see some Gamecube games on our Virtual Console. Win win for everyone.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Continues to Evolve Its Hype Machine

AndyWARbear

Nintendo's E3 Digital Event started with Reggie stating Nintendo's best marketing slogan. "There's nothing wrong with having a little fun." Reggie's speech left me motivated, proud and excited to be watching and really set the mood perfectly. From that moment they haven't put a foot wrong.
