Re: Talking Point: Imagining a Future Nintendo Switch Budget Spin-Off - A Non-Switching Microconsole

@BiasedSonyFan No, it would not be pointless. It would sell to a different target audience, a different demographic, and at very little development cost to the company. As I said earlier I'm not buying the switch. They aren't getting my money, that's a loss for Nintendo. However, if they took all the guts of the switch, put it in a static box and sold it as a second option along side the switch, I would buy it and they would get my money. The switch doesn't appear to have anything special that actually even requires the mobile device like the Wii U did. It's just one screen or the other.

So there is no reason not to offer both options, one being cheaper and not portable and the other being more expensive and portable. They are just going to lose sales if they do not offer both options. If they don't offer the second option sooner rather than later they will lose it permanently because I'm not interested in buying an aging console when they finally do decide to do it.

Yes, this is exactly what they need to do. Not everyone wants to spend extra on a screen they will never use. They should offer both versions right from the start so people can choose their features and price. It should come packaged with a pro controller and play all the same games, just no screen, no battery, no joy con, and no mobility.

They shouldn't wait either. They should do this from the beginning. Don't sell the switch for a few years and then add it to the line, do it in march! Delaying the micro-console version will only ensure it's remains niche and doesn't catch on. I don't want the Switch and won't be buying it. If they do a micro console, I might, but if it comes years later when the console is aging, I won't bother. So release it at the same time or I'm out and Nintendo is dead to me.

@UK-Nintendo Because the Wii U was a great console, people just didn't realize it and it was marketed badly. This isn't even a console at all, it's a portable handheld only really. Jack of all trades and will be a master of none.

I think they will be lucky to sell 10 million.

@DanteSolablood There would be no need to redesign the controller. The only reason for the joy-con is so it can separate and attach to the screen. If you don't have that screen the pro controller would work just fine, no need for the joycon at all. The pro controller would be the ONLY controller. It is Nintendo's fault that they think this gimmick will work.
As for pre-judging, you want me to waste my money buying the thing before realizing it is crap? What else do you expect?

Re: Analysts Weigh In On The Nintendo Switch Debate

Alshain01

@DanteSolablood Because I'd have to buy both the removable controllers and the pro controller with the Switch. The pro controller is the only way I would use this thing, the Joy-Con controller looks terribly uncomfortable. You are also paying more for the screen, whatever this thing costs, it could be cheaper without it and I won't use it, so why do I need it?

Re: Analysts Weigh In On The Nintendo Switch Debate

Well I just don't see the market for myself. I'd being paying more than necessary for a home console because that home console has a screen that can not be used as a console (like the Wii U) and will never be taken as a portable from my house.

Now if they released an even cheaper version without the screen or removable controllers, just a single box with a pro-controller like a real console that isn't a toy, I might be interested. But as it is the extra cost of all these never-to-be-used features assures I will not be purchasing this one. I've gone ahead and pre-ordered Breath of the Wild on Wii U.

They are trying to send this message of home console gaming on the go, but they are shunning the people who just want a home console.

Re: Editorial: Reminiscing on Hoarding StreetPass Hits, and Why Any NX 'Portable' Should Keep Them Alive

People are talking like NX is going to be the replacement for the 3DS. This article implies the same thing.

I can tell you now, that isn't going to happen. At the likely cost of the NX, parents will not buy multiple NX units for their multiple children and Nintendo is not likely to abandon the multiple child household by not following up on the 3DS line with something new and relatively inexpensive for the handheld market.

Streetpass on NX would certainly be a nice thing to have, in addition to whatever replaces the 3DS.
