Sonic looks fun, might get it if I have the money
Where's Castlevania Anniversary Collection?
Nothing for me this week. Dragon's Dogma just arrived in the mail this week, and I'm still working on My Time at Portia.
Castlevania Collection and Resident Evil 1 for me. One day I'll have every game I wish to play portable.
Guilty Gear and AC III for me.
Just Blackops 4 Blackout for me this week.
Castlevania Collection?!? Would have voted for that. This is an EXCELLENT week!
EDIT: I just cancelled my physical order of resident evil. Something snapped and I came to my senses. I will not be paying that price for something half-a$$’d. Half a$$’d as in both games not on one cartridge.
I’ll just buy the physical collection when it comes down in price OR just eventually give in and buy Resident Evil 1 when the time is right.
Excited for Resident Evil games, but $30? Should be $20 each.
Team Sonic racing and Assassin's creed 3 remastered (physical) for me on Tuesday. That will be all for the rest of the month.
Tales from Space was in my top 10 Vita games, if you have not played it, I would highly recommend it
So, um, stupid question. If and when I sign up for Nintnedo Online do we get to play all of the NES games ever released for NO or only the ones for that month? (I never planned on getting NO until SMM2 basically said "get it or don't play" yesterday)
Resident evil 4 and Team sonic racing, definitely
Uhh, Castlevania is supposed to release today too.
And hey, Super Life of Pixel! I remember people were really into that game on Vita. Cool.
@Dman10
Yeah surely they'll knock them down to $25-$20 before too long. I never played Resident Evil Zero so I would like to give that one a go and if it was $20 I would grab it right away, and probably grab all 3.
@rjejr you get access to them all. It’s just like signing up for Netflix/Hulu, for example: you pay one monthly fee for everything available on the service. So if you sign up, you’ll have access to everything ever released for NSO up to this point in time and all future releases.
@rjejr When you have Nintendo Online, you’ll have access to the whole large list of NES games. Lots of good stuff!
Team Sonic Racing (physical) is currently $32.84 on Amazon US (Switch, Xbox, PS4) for anybody who wants to save $7.15 and have a box on their shelf.
And have the ability to trade the game in or give it away if they don't like it. Or maybe just finds it redundant w/ MK8D.

Darkwood, Akane, and thats it for me. Grabbing Hades on PC during the Epic sale, and thats where my most time will go.
Already have Team Sonic Racing on pre-order, though physically. Will be picking that up while on my errands next week. Also downloaded the new NES stuff. Had a fun time last night playing Vs. Excitebike with a friend.
@imgrowinglegs @ChromaticDracula Thank you both. That's the opposite of PS+ which I've had most of the past 8 years or so but I recently stopped b/c it's overpriced for what you get now. PS+ did used to have an Instant Game Collection (IGC) of about 12 games but that was back when PS3 was a thing and online was free.
This does soften the blow a bit, even if we do own a lot of them on our Classic Mini and VC, but this puts them on the Switch for convenience.
And for everybody saying Switch can't do splitscreen for SMM2 (in another article) so we need to do co-op and vs online, may I present to you splitscreen in Vs. Excitebike, including a level editor, from the NES 25 years ago.
I'm pretty sure there are more versions of Resident Evil 4 that have been released then Tetris.
Fire Emblem 3 houses, Marvel Ultimate alliance 3 and Astral Chain are up for preorder. Elegibles for Nintendo Online Game pass.
Definitely getting the Castlevania Collection today. I'll get the Resident Evil games sometime down the road when they are affordable. I won't be buying Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R digitally cause I already got the Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Edition coming which will include that game and the original Guilty Gear on the same cartridge direct from Play-Asia. Also Koral is nice, definitely getting that later as well.
@Dazza: You forgot to mention the price for Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered as well as the fact the game also includes the second game Assassin’s Creed: Liberation starring the female character Aveline de Grandpré
I own all those RE games on Gamecube already. I'm gonna wait for the reviews to see if it's really worth it beyond portability.
Probably Guilty Gear today, and maybe Sonic Tuesday. Might also get Child of Light and Wandersong while they're on sale. Good picks?
@rjejr you should do it! Here’s something else to sweeten the deal— about a month ago there was a special thing if you had amazon prime you could link to your Discord or whatever other service and get 3 months of NSO for free. And the best part was that if you had already paid for a year of NSO for example, the deal would stack on top of that. I’ll try to find the link / info for that
I already preordered Akane, and will be buying the Castlevania Collection (where is it?) as soon as it is available.
was really hoping this would be the weak for cadence of hyrule. My flight is next wednesday so no Cadence of Hyrule for that.
Gettin Lulua and Castlevania Collection
And another week flies by without the release of Virtua Racing in the US. Is Sega allergic to money?
@rjejr
Here you go!:
https://blog.twitch.tv/twitch-prime-members-get-up-to-one-year-of-nintendo-switch-online-25f7de25d3bb
You actually get 12 months free! Read about it; you get 3 months first then come back and get 9 more
I got SteamWorld Heist Tuesday when it was still on sale for $5.99 so I’m good at the moment. I will add Thief Simulator to my wish list in case if it ever goes on sale in the future.
Is Redout from last week list? It's new on eShop.
No Virtua Racing, just forced me to create a Japanese eshop account...
@ChromaticDracula Doesn't work if you have a family plan. I tried.
Im getting Resident Evil 4. I hope it has motion controls which would justify the price for me. I'll get the other 2 games as soon as I can. I want to get Team Sonic Racing but I'll have to wait on that.
Castlevania and a triple dose of Resident Evil. 😁
I've never played any of those Resident Evil games, but I'm very excited to play them for the first time and on Switch no less! I'd also been wanting a Castlevania collection on Switch so I'm also happy about that. Wonder why it's not included in this update though...
@ChromaticDracula I think that Amazon deal came out about a month after my Prime expired. I did look into the Twitch thing but may have had the same problem. My kids do use Discord but again, no Prime.
Now that I'm looking into it I'll find a way, being cheap is what I do. The main problem right now is we really NEED the $35 Family plan - even though we only have 1 Switch and therefore only 1 of us can play the NES games or play online at any given time - and most of the offers are for the single $20 plan. I really don't think Nintneod ants people buying that $35 family plan, they dont' even offer it w/ SMM2. It's like they expect everyone to buy a new Switch, a game, and online, just for SMM2. So I'm a little peeved at the moment and will have to wait a few days to calm down before looking into it. Game comes out in a 6 weeks so we have time, no rush really. Worst case scenario Target has a B1G1 10% off eShop card sale so I pick up a couple of $20s and have a few $ left over.
In the meantime I'll keep pestering Nintnedo's twitter about offers for the Family plan. Why can we buy SSM2 and a 1 player plan for $70 but not SMM2 and the family plan for $85? It's not fair really.
Don't see the option for castlevania on here. I cant find this game anywhere!!!
@ChromaticDracula I'm holding out on resident evil til launch day or the day after. Lately prices have been dropping right after launch on Amazon (Mk11 comes to mind)
If you didn't know @rjejr a regular NOS will support as many profiles as you have on your switch. So if you have 3 kids with 3 different profiles they will all work. The Family Plan is for people who want NOS for Their house their Brothers house and for their Sisters House. If you only want it for your house you don't need a family plan
Edit: Turns out this info is incorrect.
Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland absolutely!
Only Castlevania here
I'd be buying some Resident Evil games but not at double the price they are elsewhere, so Castlevania it is 😁
I'll get RE4 this weekend, I love that game, it marked my life!
YOUR ARE CUTE
DIE IN HELL! !
Gunlord is the best
I have already bought RE4 twice. Pre-Ordered for GameCube and Wii (it came out on my birthday). Since I have my WiiU still hooked up, I can play it that way if needed. I really want it and REmake portable, but I cannot see paying those prices. $20.00 USD tops. Hopefully a good Halloween sale will make it happen.....
@BacklogBlues That's the way I would like it to work, BUT, when they had that demo/beta/trial for Mario Tennis last month it came w/ a free 1 week trail code for the online. I redeemed the code on my son's account and when I tried to play on my account or my other son's account (I have two sons each w/ their own account in case that last part was confusing) I kept getting error messages when my other son and I tried to play online.
Now I suppose it's possible that was how the code worked, not the paid, so I'll research it further.
I'm researching now and what do you mean by "profiles"? Is a profile the same thing as a Nintendo Account or just something on the Switch that doesn't have it's own account? According to the Nintneod website it sounds like each "account", what my sons and I each have, Nintnedo Accounts w/ separate email and My Nintnedo Rewards and everything, needs it's own paid online.
Individual Membership
For one Nintendo Account holder
Family Membership
For up to 8 Nintendo Account holders
Something just occurred to me. My sons account that I used the free trial on may have still be a "Dependent" account or "child" account. Nintnedo words it differently is different places. Maybe if I use my account, which is the "parent" account attached to my mobile "Parental control" app, then my 2 sons can also use it.
Oh well, since you took the time to reply I'm going to sign up for a free trial on my account and see if that works. If that doesn't work, maybe b/c it's a free trial, then I'll research some more before spending the $3.99 for a month to see if that works. But I think if the free trial doesn't work the paid wont' work either.
I'll let ya know.
@Giygas_95
RE4 changed gaming. It was a seminal moment. Easy to see why it was the 2005 GOTY. I like Zero a lot for the atmosphere and the two-character mechanic. RE1 for GCN is still beautiful and added new gameplay mechanics that really do make it the best version of that game.
You are in for a treat. I would play RE1 first and then REZero. Maybe save 4 for last as it plays very different from the other two. It reinvented the series.
@WhiteTrashGuy Thanks! My plan is actually to play Zero first since I love going in chronological order (did it with the God of War and Metal Gear Solid series as well, and I absolutely loved both of them like that). After I finish REmake, I'll play the remake of 2 on my PS4, and then 4 on Switch. Probably won't bother trying to play 3 until it gets remade.
I really wish we'd get an MGS Twin Snakes port to the Switch. Heck, all of the MGS games could work on Switch. I'm sure MGSV even could since it worked on PS3 and 360.
@rjejr i meant profile/account as the same thing. Looks like my info was wrong. I though NOS was linked One Switch but apparently it's not it's linked to One account.
The game I’d want most is RE4 but I’ve already beaten it back on GC and I’m not interested in paying $30 for a game that regularly dips to $10 on sale. I have a Re5&6 to beat on my PS4 still.
@jhess826 No. Not even close
I'll buy the RE games when they go on sale. Not a fan of the price gouging.
i am getting assassin's creed 3 and all three resident evils for the switch. people should realize it cost this much because of the cartridge format. of course it is strange that they still charge that much for digital.
@BacklogBlues "NOS was linked One Switch but apparently it's not it's linked to One account."
I do like your way better, and after many years of PS+, which I used on two PS3 and a PS4, sometimes at the same time w/ several accounts, this seems a step backwards, even if it is cheaper.
$35 a year would be nice if and when we have two Switch, 1 for me, 1 for my kids, so we could share it, but it really seems bad on Nintneod's part that 1 family w/ 1 Switch has to pay nearly twice as much for the Family plan. It's not like we can use it more than a 1 person account w/ only 1 Switch. But it looks liek w/ SSM2 we dotn' have a choice, and they know it, so they are taking advantage of us. And they are really taking advantage of us as it's $70 for the game and 1 year for a single account but $95 for the game and 1 year of a family account. Where's our Family discount bundle?
@Giygas_95
I really want MGS IV since I never had a PS3 and missed out. That is at the top of my Switch-List along with OVERWATCH (already got DIABLO 3 and DRAGON'S DOGMA, now!).
The remake of RE2 for PS4 pulls a lot from RE4 in terms of gameplay. Just be aware of that as it might be weird going backwards to RE4. I am kind of jealous that you get to experience the story fresh since the series jumps around so much!
I agree @rjejr this is a step backwards and really unfair to Family's who live under one roof. In my experience in life the time when my kids where at home was when money was the tightest do to all the expediencies not because i made less. So i'm sorry to hear this for you. And thanks for doing the leg work on this problem as i was going to create an Asian & Japanese account to play some Online exclusives to those regions. But that's a mute point now.
@hihelloitsme. Same, that is pretty much all I play.
Capcom is good at slashing prices after a while. Starting price is way too much. I'll wait till RE4 is $10 not $29.99
Misread pocket league story as Rocket league story.
Not sure what I expected out of that
@WhiteTrashGuy Yeah, the similarities between 2 Remake and 4 have me pretty excited.
Also MGS4 is really good despite being a bit too heavy on cutscenes at times. One of my favorite features is the octo camo.
Mutant Blobs Attack is such a pleasant surprise!
I really liked that game when I played it a few years ago.
Check it out if you can! It's from the same studio behind Guacamelee and Severed.
Big week this week with Team Sonic Racing, Assassins Creed III and 3 Resident Evil Classics!
Um... This is a Nintendo site, right?
I was playing Castlevania on Nintendo systems for a decade before Resident Evil even existed (actually purchased CV for NES in December, 1987 and RE came out in 1996).
Vania doesn't deserve a mention?
I really want to get Sonic Racing and AC3.
Great week. Sonic Racing, Assassin's Creed, Castlevania and Gulity Gear for me. I'll also be getting the RE titles when they inevitably go on sale.
The announcement of games 20-30 for the Mega Drive Mini caused me to pre-order that, so I can't in good conscience buy Bloodlines twice in the same week by picking up the Castlevania collection here (...but I probably will later; maybe next week!).
Curious for the NL review of Sonic Team Racing / AC3, so I'll hold off 'til then. I am not a fan of zombie games (even the zombies in Conker's Bad Fur Day scared the bajeezus out of me), but otherwise I would be sorely tempted to pick up one of the RE remasters.
@RandomLeo00 Bless you. I need all three.
Also, are we not getting Guilty Gear along with Accent Core???
Something is off about the dates. Why are some of the games that were released last week, listed as this week? Were some of these supposed to be posted on the 9th update instead of the 16th?
Castlevania, Darkwood and Akane. Already had Akane dl just waiting on the first two.
@KryptoniteKrunch
Yes The RE games will definitely go on sale. Everything Capcom has released on switch(except maybe MM 11?) has gotten a good sale every now and then.
It's just a waiting game. Probably in October for Halloween.
Resident evil 4. Never played and can’t waut
@BacklogBlues "Asian & Japanese account"
Yeah, I really couldn't imagine that working, even on the same account w/ Nintendo. My PS3 had accounts in 4 countries - US, Japan, Chine, UK - but I only ever had PS+ in the US. Though admittedly that was mostly b/c I didn't know how to pay for stuff in those other countries back then.
One thing that did work though, if I downloaded a theme from anther country - Japan always had the best themes - I could use it with my US account. Same for any demos, Japan had a lot of good demos on PS3 as well. PS4 not so much w/ the demos or the themes. I think we only use our US accounts on the PS4.
I've never set up another foreign country Switch account, never saw the need. My backlog is bad enough as it is to go messing around with all of that.
I was in Target today and they have those little cards for Family Switch for $35 so I'm just going to keep an eye out for a sale, or a Cartwheel discount, or save up my $5 gift cards from shampoo and toilet paper, shouldn't take long.
@Platinumhobo
Err, with Guilty Gear you mean the first one? I haven't heard anything about it, I think only Guilty Gear XX Accent Core R was confirmed.
Resident Evil 4 deserves a Physical version here I love that game so much & will buy it on the Nintendo switch.
@Platinumhobo Yes! It's actually dirt cheap. That's $20MX which is about the same as $1USD. That's awesome.
All those RE should be $19 physical and $15 digital at this point. And that is pushing it.
Got Assassin Creed 3 as a free download with the AC:Odyssey Season Pass, and not cared to download it. Last I checked the user score was at 4 on PC.
Hope SEGA can notch a win.
This week is insane. So many things. I'm going to look for physical for some of them, but there are still several here that want me to download them.
This is one heckuva release week. Here’s my haul, with titles I’m particularly excited to play in bold:
Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered + Assassin’s Creed Liberation
Team Sonic Racing
Atelier Lulua
Resident Evil 0 HD
Resident Evil HD
Resident Evil 4
Mutant Blobs Attack
Ninja Gaiden
Guilty Gear XX
Vs. Excitebike is so much better than the normal one. Some good music in it! I kept hearing a part of the song during a race and couldn't quite put my finger on what it sounded like. Finally realized it was Ice Hockey's in-game music.
...and I had a feeling it was used in World Rally. Sure enough. It would be nice to be able to play that game online again.
@ChemyNoSurfea Oh, didn't see it there. Thank you!
Getting Re HD and 4 i always wanted to play RE 1 on the go, ive beat it. Countless times on The gc about 4 on the Wii .The Horror atmosphere is so tense and doesn't go away so easy especially on nightmare.
€90 for 3 ressy games that are at least 13 years old? As download only? Seriously!?!??!??
Edit: rip off.
I want to report a customer congratulations pop-up that I received just a few moments ago while viewing this page. Who do I chat and can I reach them on Twitter? My handle is @zachalejandro. Hope you guys can resolve this or do a maintenance update on this site to remove these spammy messages in the future. I don't want others to experience the same thing
