Nintendo, slowly and surely, has been warming to the 'game as live service' approach that is proving popular (and lucrative) for various triple-A games. Splatoon on Wii U was relatively light in content on day one but expanded a great deal with a lot of free content, and this also happened on a smaller scale with Super Mario Maker.

Now ARMS will adopt a similar approach. The 'final announcement' in today's ARMS Direct confirmed that after launch free updates will add to the roster of characters, and also new stages and ARM types.

With the game's modes and details now outlined the game seems to be shaping up rather well - more additions to keep players interested after launch certainly make sense, too.
