If you live in the US and purchased the 3DS eShop title – Woah Dave! – when it was released in October last year, you’re in for a treat, with the publisher Choice Provisions today announcing the game will be available on the Wii U eShop on 20th August, with a cross-buy promotion also on offer for existing 3DS owners – making the Wii U version free.
Woah Dave! features classic arcade action and will satisfy individuals who enjoy high-score chasing time-killers. In our review we awarded the original game 7 out of 10 stars. The Wii U game as previously noted will receive the same Deluxe version treatment as the 3DS counterpart.
The Wii U version will also support multiple controllers including the GamePad, Pro Controller, Wii Remote and Wii Pro Controller.
Let us know in the comments if you’re one of the lucky existing owners, or if you’ll consider picking this title up now that it includes a cross-buy promotion.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip!

I got it for 'free' on the humble nindie bundle a whole back, and I never opened the present in the home menu :v
Europe please!
Is Whoa Dave scheduled for EU release at all? I know that it is available on Playstation here in europe!
Woah Dave is really boring so I'll pass. I'm glad I only got it bundled up from the Nindie Humble Bundle.
@Gridatttack don't you have to pay for humble bundles so how did you get the gam for free
Eh most of the retro looking games i havev played tend to suck
Dave Lonuts 4 Smash.
Got the 3DS version with Humble Bundle, never played it yet but I recall people saying it was a good game... Maybe I'm remembering wrong
So many complaints over a potentially free game...
@JaxonH
I got it with humble bundle, and it's a decent game. It is very reminiscent of old Atari games. I find it nice to play in short bursts.
When i first played this it seemed meh,Then a hour passed,Its so addictive.
Got this for free on PS4, played it for about 15 minutes and was done with it. Not impressive or fun at all
Not everyone will love the simple, high-score chasing gameplay of Woah Dave!... but I do. The frantic action builds up quickly, the different stages to play on force you to try new and different strategies, and it's quick enough to be a perfect portable or filler game when you only have a few minutes.
Hearing the Wii U version will be cross-buy is awesome.
I actually enjoyed the 3ds version a lot. It'll be cool on the big screen.
Thank you Humble Bundle!
SWEEEEEEEET
I got this game in the humble bundle, but WHOAAAA, DAVE! It's really good! It will be even more rad to play on the big screen.
Terrific game, the Deluxe mode added so much. Stoked for a free copy on the Wii U.
It's the closest anyone today would see of Punch Ball Mario Bros. That is a true overlooked classic. Makes me wish Woah Dave gets a 2 player mode, would be epic.
@Captain_Gonru My kids split up the Nindie Bundle codes 2 each, nobody wanted Woah Dave or Moon Chornices. We haven't installed a single code on Wii U yet - gave Guacamelle to my nephew but my brother-in-law hasn't put their Wii U online yet, they just use it to play Wii games, their Wii broke. I tried to to tlak them into Spaltoon but no luck yet.
I do like the Atari look - had 1 of those, mostly player Joust and Pac Man in high school late night drunk - so maybe I'll talk one of them into this so we can have it on Wii U where I will play it, seems nuts on 3DS, too tiny.
Love this game. Bought it twice. For 3DS and 2DS, and will get it for free again now.
@MoonKnight7 I agree 100%
If only I could bring my save data over from the 3DS version, but oh well. Thanks, I'll be sure to download this for the Wii U as well.
@argh4430 hnnnngg....I just zapped 2 player mode into the WiiU version via telepathy. Your wish is granted.
No seriously there's 2 player mode in the WiiU version. Boom.
@daff3ww Hence the " on free.
Two things:
1. For 10$, you get a lot other games. This one seems to be on the low value, so compared to the great deal you got form others, this is free.
2. Someone gifted me a code of Woah Dave because they already had it/didn't wanted it when they got the Bundle.
@Robotube thanks! I'm looking forward to it.
Is this ever going to get an EU/UK release?
Nintendo must learn from this developers and do the same with the Virtual Console.
@daff3ww You obviously have not played Shovel Knight!

"I haven't played it but it sucks"
>reads on
"As a retro gamer, I love it"
For a second I was worried The game is definitely really fun in short bursts, plus its really tough XD
@Captain_Gonru "Just remembered you don't have your own 3DS. You really should."
We have 3 of the original 3DS in the house. I wanted a new XL but the $200 price tag put me off. I only paid $170 for my PS3 and that included the $70 DI 2.0 Avengers set. I paid $140 for my Tab 4 7" last year. I know it's technically a "new XL" but the system launched years ago at $200, it should be $150 by now even w/ the new. At this point I've kind of given up.
Maybe NX will play 3DS games on the TV, I'd buy 1 if it did that.
getting this for free thanks to humble nindie bundle then.
sure I paid $11 or so for the bundle but its free coz i dont have to pay again.
I liked the game play but i sucked at it...
