This Giant Augmented Reality Mii Could Destroy Us All
Posted by James Newton
Run for it
The 3DS Augmented Reality (AR) cards are one of the console's coolest features: with just a piece of card and your console you can magic into existence Mario, Samus Aran or a virtual representation of yourself. But cards are small; what happens if you make them bigger?
We're not talking A4 size here: we're talking enormous cards, 672cm x 480cm. How big is the accompanying Mii, though? Big enough to stand toe-to-toe with a giant robot statue. Hopefully the two would end up battling each other: if they joined forces, the world as we know it could be over.
Check out the video below to see the amount of work put into this enormous virtual person.

O_O Good Lord. Looks like we have a guiness world record on our hands.
OOH, they should play Nintendogs with it!

That's really cool! They sure used a lot of paper to summon him with. Now all they need to do is summon Giant Mario and Giant Kirby to really make a team! If a giant dragon was made, it would make for one heck of a target game.

Someone should make a vector recreation of the AR Card, it would allow unlimited scaling.

Wooooow...very interesting, how the 3DS doesn't actually care how big the AR card is. Talk about a game changer!

That was the best music. 1950's B&W cartoon Christmas music with a dash of the Mighty Mouse theme song.

@Burn: In Photoshop, they were tracing the shapes with the Pen tool, so that they'd be vector shapes. First they enlarged the card to the size they wanted (at 1:03), then they traced the shapes (at 1:07). If they hadn't done that, it would've been a giant, pixelated mess. lol.

Man, a giant, poorly-antialiased version of myself hanging out in urban Japan would be awesome. Might have to do something fun like that here in the great white north

I'm not afraid of 700ft virtual monsters. They may look intimidating, but it still can't crush you when it has zero mass
