Re: Where To Pre-Order Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD On Switch

spoonmanx

Both this, and Paper Mario HD remasters should have been $29.99 USD each. I don't understand why they feel everything warrants a $69.99 price no matter what the game is. Metroid Prime Remastered was an amazing release., and $29.99. Not to mention both of those are $15 cheaper (each) for the Asian (English language) versions.

Re: Where To Pre-Order The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom On Switch

spoonmanx

Honestly, $69.99 is a bit too much for a Nintendo mobile game. (Their words, not mine!). Just as 3DS, DS, GBA, GB, games would never sell as much as their console games. I used to spend $69.99 on brand new N64 1st party games, as did many others). This just seems a bit much, and mainly because Nintendo takes YEARS before they'll even consider lowering a price on their 1st party titles, where as a Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank, Returnal, Uncharted 4, will drop by as much as 50%, in a few months.

Re: Sega Open To Reviving Sonic's 1993 Arcade Game, But Needs Your Support

spoonmanx

M²... Wants more support? How about releasing Sega Vintage Classics once again on a PlayStation system? They were incredible on the PS3.. Monster World IV, Revenge of Shinobi, Wonder Boy.. All running at 1080p/60 on the PS3. Then you had something very special.. Super Hang-On for the PS3 w/stereoscopic 3D support. All running at 1080p, and 1080p, ON BOTH LENSES (interlacing video active shutter). So that's essentially 120fps and at full HD. M² really are wizards and maniacs.

I'd certainly buy all of these games for a 2nd, 3rd, 5th time – if they gave me something like SPACE HARRIER with PSVR support! 120p/1080p per eye shouldn't be hard for them. I want Super Scalers in VR! And please bring back 2 player online co-op support. It adds a ton of value to these older games on console. All of their PS3 entries (Sega Vintage Classics, Neo•Geo Station, Capcom Arcade Cabinet had 2 player online, music jukebox, movie recording, and much more. I gladly bought them all.

Re: Review: Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha - Great Games Shamed By Horrendous Input Lag

spoonmanx

There are many other ways for latency to creep in as well.

Original console on a modern display:
1. Playing an original console on a modern display. Most displays have awful A/D (Digital to Analog conversion), often seeing a 240 signal as 480i. Not only will it look bad, with interlacing artifacts, but it will also introduce latency as the display "figures it out".

2. Playing with a USB controller
USB controllers have to poll data every few seconds to check for input. This adds input latency.

3. Modern displays all add some amount of latency, some are far worse than others. If there is a "Game Mode" make sure it's enabled.

To play nearly lag free would require the player to game on an original console, or hardware FPGA clone, such as the Analogue consoles, on a CRT system with a controller connected via the console's original controller port. Bluetooth and 2.4g controllers will also add lag, though the latter should be basically unnoticeable.

Re: 12 Classic Shmups Are Headed To Switch Thanks To Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha And Bravo

The extras are nice, but really.. if you won the Asian collections (3 of them) you are good. They have better cover art, and each game has it's own icon (Now if Nintendo would just fix their menu we could organize these games into folders)

Re: All Those amiibo On Your Shelf? You Can't Use Them In Super Mario Maker 2

spoonmanx

Probably just another ploy to try and kill off physical media.
Between this, publishers not paying up to get the full game on a Switch cart, and Activision only adding a 3rd of the game on disc based media, they are effectively making physical based media horrible, but for those of us who only buy expensive games as physical, they end up with none of my money in the process.

Re: Video: SNES Classic Runs PSone Games Better Than The PlayStation Classic

spoonmanx

The PS Classic hardware is much more powerful than the NES/SNES Classic. The software and configuration is to blame.

Compare specs...
SNES Classic:
Allwinner R16 SoC processor
CPU: 4Core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU @1.2GHz
GPU: ARM Mali 400 MP2 GPU
MEMORY: 256MB of DDR3 memory
STORAGE: 512MB of NAND Flash Storage

PlayStation Classic:
MediaTek MT8167A SoC processor
CPU: 4Core ARM Cortex A35 CPU @1.5GHz
GPU: PowerVR GE8300 GPU
MEMORY: 1GB DDR3 RAM (1866MHz)
STORAGE: 16GB eMMC NAND memory 2018 VGO

Re: More Pre-Order Cancellations Cast Serious Doubt Over Anti-Grav Racer Redout On Switch

spoonmanx

Sorry, it only felt like 2+ years ago because they've changed the date so many times! I ordered it back in February 2017/ Yes, before the Switch was released. It's when it was posted on Amazon for pre-order.
They since changed the release date to: 5/29/17, 7/25/17, 8/29/17, 10/24/17, 03/30/18, 12/1/18.. and then to canceled.

I ignored the rest of the message. I normally ignore entire messages like this though so consider yourself lucky.

Oh, and the WipeOut Omega was mentioned because this pretty much rips it off pixel for pixel. I like WipEout so I figured I'd give this a try.

WipeOut not only runs in 100% true honest to goodness 2160p (AKA 4K) + 60fps, but now also in VR (120fps) since Sony released a free patch. It was very nice of them I must say.

Re: Namco Museum Arcade Pac Is A 2-in-1 Bundle Coming Exclusively To Switch

spoonmanx

@MysteryCupofJoe That's REALLY wishful thinking. Haha

First of all Konami doesn't really care about gamers. And they wouldn't likely spend a dime to buy the copyright licenses for games like Simpsons, X-Men, or Bucky-o-Hare.

The PS3 and 360 had Xmen and Simpsons, but the license expired and they were both delisted forever from both stores.

Re: Data East Arcade Titles Are Coming To Switch, Courtesy Of One Of Gaming's Worst Mascots

spoonmanx

It seems like after SNK released their Neo•Geo Station games at $8.99 a pop, other publishers used that as a price guideline. ($8-$9)

I feel a better price point for these classic games should be $4.99. That's what most PS1 Classics sell for, and at least those are Cross-Buy with (usually) PSP, Vita, PS3, and PSTV.

Sega Vintage Classics and Capcom Arcade Cabinet games were also around this price, and I bought just about all of them!

Re: retroUSB's HDMI NES, the AVS, is Heading for a Summer Release

spoonmanx

Weather my comment is late or not is irrelevant. What matters here is that you have left vastly incorrect information about a product which is currently selling as new. Like I said, I don't normally bother commenting on this stuff, but when there is information so wrong I feel it should be sorted out.

You've had plenty of time to fix all of the wrong information in your comment, but instead chose to take this time to try and challenge me as a gamer who is not up to date on their systems, but the truth is I have my Nintendo Switch on pause and my PS4 downloading Horizon Zero Dawn.

Never assume that someone is stuck with only retro games just because they play them. I own over 200 systems and 5,000 games. I appreciate all of what gaming has to offer despite which system it may be on.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Studio Factor 5 Is Apparently Back From The Dead

spoonmanx

@SLIGEACH_EIRE

Disney will cut a deal with anyone who will make them a lot of money. A Star Wars Rogue Squadron HD Remastered Trilogy would be extremely popular and probably sell very well.

They released Super Star Wars, Episode I Racer, Bounty Hunter on the PS4 as PS2 upscaled classics. So you never know. I would love to see it happen personally!

Re: retroUSB's HDMI NES, the AVS, is Heading for a Summer Release

spoonmanx

@retro_player_22

"Here we go again, another Famiclone that can't play light gun games and probably won't work with Castlevania 3. With Retron 5 and the Retro Freak already on the market for around the same price range, offer more game consoles compatibilities, are region free, had built-in cheats, and could upscale games to 720p or higher in HD, I don't see the need for this console unless you love wasting money collecting Famiclones."

I don't normally reply to comments, but it seems you need some correct information here!

1. Famiclone? No. It's an FPGA based system and performs 100% as the original would.

2. Can't play Zapper games. Correct, but that's more of the fault of your HD display, which vby the way is the main reason you'd want one of these. If you just want to play NES games on an old CRT you'd be better off with an old NES, which you can often find used for less than $25.

There are only 8 Zapper Light gun required NES games ever made...2 of them are decent. I've been playing NES games since 1985 and really can only think of a handful of times I actually wanted to play them. I don't miss them, nor do I miss the 2 R.O.B. games either.

3. "and probably won't work with Castlevania 3" Not only does it work with it PERFECTLY, but if you insert the Japanese Famicom game you will also get the much superior Famicom Enhanced audio. Once you play that you will have a hard time going back to the old NES sound. So proceed with caution!

4. "With Retron 5 and the Retro Freak.."
No.. Those are EMULATION based systems and largely inaccurate. Maybe not to the untrained eye, but trust me, they are not as good as this. Both of those also introduce lag into your games. Beating Tyson on MTPO will be MUCH harder to do with one of those than with an AVS.

Also, try playing some homebrew, many titles just don't even work. Others that often have trouble: English Translated games, game hacks, multigame carts, or flashcarts. Where as they ALL work on the AVS.

Now try connecting some official NES or Famicom accessories to it. A kick ass Arkanoid VAUS spinner controller -Nope!, A U-Force - Nope! LaserScope by Konami... Nope! How about running an actual Famicom Disk System on your Retron 5 or GameFreak? Nope! Not going to work, but all of those, and more work on the AVS and extremely well too.

5. Region free? Sure it does! It even includes both the NES and Famicom cartridge ports, with enough room to connect an official FDS system, as well as a real Famicom EXT port in the back for Japanese Famicom accessories.

6. Upscale your games to 720p. Yes again! It looks incredible at 720p, which by the way is a perfect 3x integer of the NES's native resolution of 240. It does this with ZERO LAG introduced, something the Retro5 and GameFreak can't claim. Perfect 48.1Hz audio through HDMI. No lagged sounds, no sound differences from the original, just perfection.

It goes beyond that with 4 controller inputs (NOS of actual Nintendo parts). So you have built-in NES Four Score support. The Reset and Power buttons are also NOS of actual Nintendo NES parts which is awesome.

You have to realize this is not some cheap Android emulator-in-a-box like those others. This is 1:1 hardware representation of the original NES/Famicom, with some amazing enhancements. If a game runs on the NES it will run on the AVS. I love using an Everdrive N8 cart with the AVS, along with 8Bitdo NES30 Bluetooth pads. It's the ultimate NES setup IMO.

Re: Sega Scrapped A Golden Axe Remake With Odin Sphere-Style 2D Visuals

spoonmanx

@Kirk I was going to say you are nuts... as Golden Axe III is a pretty terrible game. Thankfully you were not speaking of the Mega Drive only atrocity
http://www.videogameobsession.com/videogame/Genesis/MD-GoldenAxeIII-vgo.jpg

I agree, Sega really should release some of their better arcade only games to modern consoles and the 3DS. I'd love to see GA: Revenge of Death Adder, Shadow Dancer, and others released by M2.

Re: Video: This Harmless Exploit Will Help You Grab All Those StreetPass Puzzle Pieces

spoonmanx

They must have patched this with 4.1??

I just tried it and it didn't work. I deleted the new character from Animal Crossing, following the directions, it came up saying a new surprise guest is here, AYA KYOGOKU, but then when it opens Mii Plaza she is deleted and doesn't come back.
Now I'm down to zero special characters so I can't try it again.

In addition it also came up with two more notifications:
1 "StreetPass Mii Plaza — New Games" saying a new update is available (it's not)
2 "Puzzle Swap" telling me nee panels are available. Neither of these do anything other than just open Mii Plaza when clicked on.

Any ideas? Not I expect any replied this far out, but if this helps keep someone else from deleting a special Mii then I suppose it's worth my time to post.
I guess it serves me right...cheating, or attempting to anyway.
It's just that we get ZERO people around me with 3DS systems so it's taken me about 4 years to complete ONE puzzle! I have. I have no way of getting pink pieces other than the few a year from Nintendo.

Re: Two Tetris Titles Pulled From the 3DS eShop in North America

spoonmanx

The worst part of this. The part that ANYONE BUYING DIGITAL DOWNLOADS ON A NINTENDO BRANDED SYSTEM NEEDS TO KNOW..... Is that if you bought this and anything happens to your 3DS, or even just Tetris gets deleted by accident then you will NEVER BE ABLE TO GET IT BACK!

Nintendo's archaic digital ecosystem is beyond terrible. They, at the very least, should always allow you to re-download all purchases that you have made regardless of copyright issues on their end. There are several games on PSN which are no longer available for sale to the public, The Simpson's Arcade for example, but since I purchased it years ago I can still jump on PSN and re-download it as much as I'd like.

Nintendo has always been a bit late to the online network party, but now it's costing people money when they buy into digital only downloads. Unacceptable.

Re: Review: Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition (3DS eShop)

spoonmanx

It's really too bad that they chose not to bother adding 3D support to Another World 20th Anniversary on the 3DS. I already bought the PS3/Vita versions, but I woke have gladly bought it again just for the 3D effects. I imagine they would have looked pretty amazing too. The bubbles in the water, the part where you are running away from the laser shooting enemies while seeing them in the foreground, it could have been great.

Oh well....

Re: Review: 3D Streets of Rage 2 (3DS eShop)

spoonmanx

@Zeldalover
Seha didn't change Revenge of Shinobi just to mess with it. They did that because they were forced to because of copyright laws.

When they made Revenge of Shinobi/The Super Shinobi they had licensing deals with Spider-Man and Rambo, but they did also sneak a few others in which resembled licensed characters such as; Godzilla, Batman, & The Terminator.

Unfortunately we will not likely see the original version unless Sega were to pay to license these, and that's assuming that's even an option since they never asked permission to begin with!

So it would be:
1. A slightly modified title screen (to look more generic ninja to look less like Sonny Chiba.)
2. Pink Spider-Man
3. Skeleton Godzilla
4. Devilman instead of Batman
5. Rambo looking flamethrowers become bald.

I will never sell my original REV00 versions of this, Moonwalker, Mystic Defender, or Super Hang-On.

Re: Matters of Import: 3D Fantasy Zone: Opa-Opa Brothers Powers Up A Sega Classic

spoonmanx

@MAB glad to see more 3D classics, but I prefer M2's work on the PS3 with Neo-Geo Station, Sega Vintage Classics, and Capcom Arcade Cabinet. They look incredible at 1080p 1:1 pixel mode with emulated scanlines. Throw in online co-op, movie recording, music jukebox, trophies and you have a great bargain at $4.99/each.

I really wish Sega/M2 would release more games on the PS3 and in 3D. Super Hang-On looks awesome in stereoscopic 3D on a 50" HDTV!

Re: The Analogue Nt Is A NES Fashioned From Aircraft Grade Aluminium, And We Want It So Badly

spoonmanx

There is no way this will (or should anyway) cost "hundreds of dollars".
If this is similar to the system Bunnyboy AKA Brian from Retrozone is working on it will be built using an FPGA board, and according to them: "The current estimated price is $139.95"
Source: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=47634

Other options to this:

CLONE/System-on-a-chip:
Those Retron5, and other clones have issues with certain games, accuracy, sound issues, as well as jailbars in some cases.

EMULATION:
It's cheap, but it's inaccurate. As a classic game I would like to use my original game cartridges and know I am getting a 100% perfect version of every game.

RGB MOD THE NES:
This use to be a cheap deal, but since so many people have done this over the last 10 years it's driven up the price of PC-10 and Nintendo VS boards, which people use to sacrifice for the RGB PPU. I never did this myself because I don't believe in destroying any classic hardware.

BUY A NINTENDO FAMICOM TITLER
Good luck finding one of these monsters for a cheap price!
