Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's eShop Policies Deserve Both Praise and Attention

Nice read. Nintendo has been doing a real push to showcase indies on its platform since its two current systems came out. But while Actions speak louder than words I wish nintendo would market their indie support more, I know alot of guys who love the sony indie programs but didn't even realize how awesome Nintendo's support for the scene has been. (I guess its easy when sony has more high profile games).

Kind of wish Nintendo would set up a pub fund of some kind.

@Senario

How was I trolling. I mean I get this is a Nintendo fansite but its pretty bad to talk about Nintendo in Vacuum. When i'm talking to my pro-xbox Guys I still mention how a horrible job Microsoft has done handling indies compared to Nintendo and Sony.

Not sure my names lack's credibility, as much as the guys here who reference Nintendo in their names.

@JaxonH

I can which is why its more funny. A mod changed my name a year back when I was trolling sony and I've never got around to changing it.

On topic i'm really liking nintendo's messaging as of late. They're taking cues here and there from other pubs on how to market their support of indie titles. The GDC and Ideame involvement are good starts. But more could be done to be honest.

@Hunter-D

Probably. I don't think Level-5 wants to make a retail game again unless its Inazuma eleven or its a game their making for another company. (DQ 8&9).

Still I was hoping for much more from this event and instead of Console/Handheld goodness I fell into an ocean of mobile and free to play. Hopefully TGS delivers.

@C-Olimar

Nine times out of ten if that is the pricing scheme it means 3DS would be getting the full game at the outset while ios/Android has to pay in chuncks.

Its like the other game they announced thats going to be free to play but the Vita/PS4/Xbox1 version look like a normal game.

The most interesting thing about microsoft's strategy is that the the system itself can be used a dev kit. Still funny how much non info they've given trying to do flashy reveals.

Nintendo has done pretty good on the indie front. The only problem I see is no 3DS crossbuy and not marketing indies as much as sony has.

Oh I plan plan too buy all three consoles since fun games are fun games. The problem is automatically assuming all those exclusives appeal to one demo graphic. If anything wouldn't nintendo have the same problem since all their games for this year seem to be targeting similar styles of genres and art. Wereas the Sony and Microsoft Launch window is much more diverse.

-The time based mechanic is still in Dead Rising 3 and alot of fthe off wall ideas are still in as well as chracters from the first and second game are being brought back.

-The demo of Killer Insticnt is free to play. if you want you can pay the full price for the full version of the game with all of the characters. There's also hints of a special edition that comes with remasters of the first two games and a fight stick. Also if you atcally looked at FGC shows like Counter Cross the game is getting favorable attention and Kenn Lobb the series creator is working on the game as well.

Crimson Dragon is still coming out and in any case it will be like Lococycle a game that will e available on both the Xbox One and 360.

Actually Minecraft Xbox one is using the hardware to have bigger spaces to play as the 360 version was limited compared to the PC releases.

Your also ignoring games like Zoo Tycoon, Quantum Break, and D4 from swery. But one of your glimmers of hope for better or worse is call of duty with robots.

You complain about Infamous and Killzone while talkingup such creative sequels as a new 2D mario game and um.................Mario Kart yep there's that too.

You also complain that Knack is the best sony can come up with ignoring all of the loving development they had on Vita and PS3 this year. While nintendo is putting out 3D world an uprezzed 3DS game for Wii U. Or the fact that nintendo only had two games at launch and had their whole launch window delayed to the 2nd half of the year.

IT seems that your trying to belittle the competition to justify your purchase of the system. Third party support matters and i'm looking forward to games on other platforms more.

You say people buy nintendo for nintendo yet belittle people buying microsoft or sony for their IP as well.

Despite having sequels to stuff like Halo, Forza, Killzone, and infamous both microsoft and Sony have showed off more new IP then nintendo has at this point which is sad. Yet instead of writing an article based around how it doesn't matter as long as have the nintendo support which may be slower due to HD development.

Re: European Development Support For Nintendo Systems Lags Behind Rivals

For those wondering despite having a small market share Vita has really good digital software sales and its easy to port from the PS consoles.

In short 3DS has a big marketshare that really only buys retail games and is somewhat expensive to develop for.

Vita is a bit cheaper to develop and get games out for while having a small and growing based who buys alot of games mostly digital Inde devs have been pretty happy with Vita sales for their games. I think were going to see this handheld gen play out like the last one did. The 3DS is going to be forward an selling great but the Vita will ramp up slowly and match it.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Optimistic About The Future of Wii U

Pikmin 3 is the type of game that should be a system seller but it sadly won't be due to apparent lack of marketing in the west.

Nintendo has glut of content coming with at least one game a month until December. Now they need to start a new marketing campaign. Alongside side that Nintendo needs to price drop by $100 and revamp the bundle with a new game.

I'm not sure how if nintendo has the time too do this before november but they need to be aggressive showing up at every major event and convention.
