Hoping its on the PS4 but i'll throw money RK's way either way. I am a bit worried that the studio is stretched too thin, The studio is pretty small and on the horizon we have treasurnauts Moon Chonicles season 1 Cult county season 1 That Razor game mutant mudds 2
I assumed Nintendo would want to distance themselves from the recent batch if bad press the penny arcade guys have gotten. Now if that start skipping stuff like comic con I'd be worried.
Im done with it. We complain so much about the death of mid tier games but if we want projects of wider scope than just 2D indie games were going to start to pay in the $20-$30 price range.
I'll have to try out Ghost Recon Shadow Wars after I'm done with Fire Emblem.
Pretty great interview. It shows how versatile the strategy genre of games is fitting into any play style from turn based to real time and being able to adapt to any sort of story or time period.
Good to see the Vita start to pick up momentum. Its looking like it will be a repeat of last generation. The 3DS and its hardware sells into it hits market saturation and than the Vita starts to get massive support.
It makes me wonder when were going to see the successor to the 3DS.
Depends there's still a ton of indie games out or coming that aren't apart of the PS+ program and I've heard about people picking up games like the new awesomenauts.
Vita has been surviving on PS+ content, but beside that the system still has a great attach rate and sales of indie games have been really good. I won't be suprised if the PS4 is the same.
Dude owns every system as far as I know. I remember there was aninterview where he said he owned 10 PSPs because he can't stop buying special edition models.
Wii U is getting alot of digital games. The big problem I see is that its not getting high profile ones that push units, While Sony is getting smaller titles as well as the big games coming out.
It doesn't help that the main big support for the Nintendo digital eco system are from the same 3-4 devs who mostly make games for Nintendo Platforms. Even as a indie platform vehicle I find it hard to recommend the Wii U compared to the PS4 which seems to be get announcments every other day.
Wonderful 101 isn't an Indie game. Nintendo funded it and owns the IP so its not really indie to be honest. I don't consider games like Jounry or State of Decay to be indie either for that matter.
@rjejr
huh didn't know about that. I think its going to be digital only here in the states I'm assuming the price will be at the $15-$20 range of the studio's previous title Mars War Logs.
But its also the reason I prefer the term Digital Download compared to indie.
Well that the beauty of Indie titles you can still have stuff on the lower end of the spetrum like Kung-Fu Rabbit which is a pretty small title. At the same time you can have something like Bound by Flame which would have been on consoles years back.
@MrV4ltor I prefer getting away from the word indie and use the term Digital Download. I mean technically Crytek is a Independent right.
I think any VR headset will probably fail, outside of being a uber niche enthuists thing like Occlus Rift will be. For the most part add-on's made post console launch tend to fail and in all honestly Wii Balance board and Kinect were exceptions to the rule. A VR head set is on another whole level than those two from a pricing model. (Occlus dev kit is $400)
If the PS4 dev VR thing becomes a reality I'll probably pick one up for curisoitys sake, but I'm not expecting it to be any sort of success, other than getting the hardware out their so they can better iterate for next generation which is a longways off.
Irrc it was before the indie movement and Sony didn't want smaller games not worth their time on system. Cave got the OK from Microsoft and had been on Microsoft platforms ever since.
Guys from Cave even left to form mages last year and are working on Xbox one.
Vita has a strong per unit attach rate that's mostly all digital. Its also easier to port a game to the Vita from the PC or other PlayStation Systems. The 3DS is really unqie usually meaning more money and time out into porting the game. Its a difficult proposition becuase if you hit it big on the eshop you can pull in bank, but for the sane cost you could target more platforms from the outset.
To be fair Jools barley marketed the other versions of the game. I didn't even know the game was on steam and the PS3/Vita versions got buried over a onslaught of more high profile indie games.
Also what's with this Nintendo= Platfimers when the Xbox and Ps3 have tons of high selling inside platforms like Super Meat Boy and Castle Crashers.
Still good sales at the end of the day are good sales.
While were saying that Nintendo is honorable isn't that mostly the people who work there now. I mean just reading what I have about Yammuchi dude would have fired from the top and got rid of guys quickly.
Still I don't think Nintendo xoikd have afforded to so Maas firings when they just hired new staff and finished new buildgs. That would have looked even worse on headlines.
I dunno most call of Duty games can be finished in that time period. They're probably still working on Cult County, its just they have four games in development right now.
I have to say I sometimes feel like Renegade Kidd is streched too far in terms of development. But at this point it looks like they should be on track to release a game each season if this keeps up.
We still haven't seen the results of the Lucas arts merger. The only things we know is the other expanded universe is done and marvel will be publishing star wars comics.
Vita has a a high attach rate for games deapite having a small install base and its easier to run games on the system compared to the 3DS. Otd a reason why a lot of unity games come to vita but 3DS. Plus putting it on Vita would allow them to get the game to PS3/4 quickly of they decode too.
I'd blame the wiicu getting a lot of stuff delayed killed the momentum, there was little coming and the stuff that was like Rayman and pikmin was delayed.
Xbox One is having still no major droughts on the horizon like the Wii U did.
Most PS3 games are around d 50GB its mostly due to Blu Ray allowing for uncompressed assets a d fitting more on a disc. Loco cycle is 20GB ffrom a developer that's made 3GB games but than you realize everything is at 1080p and uncompressed.
All that new hardware and power doesn't have to inflate costs especially since we know developing for the PS4 is pretty much making a PC game.
@JaxonH To be honest I feel like Capxom is full of it and want to justify making a expensive free to play game. We've pretty Mich heard the opposite from nearly every other developer.
This is capcom the company who almost canclled dead rising 3 bexuase it was too expensive for them.
Most if these japaneae developers your talking about have petty much said they're sticking with the PS3 and moving to PS4 for console games. Were seeing a lot of cross gen games where a game is coming out on both and guys like Namco and Falcom are working on PS4 games.
The game is out in Japan. So regardless of Nlife posting the trailer this is mainly to get the people hyped who bought the first game and its expansion pack.

Doesn't it depend on your internet connection. I know someone using Google fiber and remote play is pretty seem less.

There would be.Remote play first started with the PS3/PSP.
Re: Two Tribes Shoots Down the Possibility of Toki Tori 3
Sucks but than I wonder how similar games such as Fez end up being big hits. I think a Toki Tori 3 in line with the first game would do well.

I think this game will get pushed to waiting for PS+ by a lot of people regardless.

Re: Soapbox: Ignoring The Objectification Of Women In Games Won't Make the Problem Go Away
@Mizore
Well that doesn't change the fact that it might be a crappy potrayal of women. Though looking at the game it seems that it would be furthest thing.
I have more problems with the way the characters look underage.

Like they said its from north American mostly indie developers which are the bulk of what you'd see on services like the eshop.
On that note this was the survey from last years GDC Europe.
