wow no limited edition .. this sucks

i want exclusive consoles like japan !! they have sweet pokemon exclusives and a year of luigi 3ds exclusive we shouldve got ! (I am angry)

I've been waiting for Nintendo to release this in England, so hopefully it releases worldwide soon. I know the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate bundle offers it, but I don't have the time to put into the game to fully enjoy the game, so I'd rather not spend the extra £35.

When is this black 3DS out in the UK?

though i like the bigger screens and ergonomics of the XL, I still think the original 3DS looked cooler.

Too bad. I got the red 3DS XL when it came out, I was looking for a silver one in the U.S. but it was never released. My old DSi was black so this color doesn't suit me, either. The red has grown on me, though, and I'm glad I got it now.

I agree with @CAM290 , The sharper edges makes the original look more sleek.

I bought a red 3DS XL a little over two months ago, I tried to wait until the black version hit NA but there where way to many games being released that I was interested in playing... Now I dont know if I should sell my current XL just to have it the color I wanted

I would have snapped this up at launch, but now I'm pretty happy with the blue one I purchased instead. I still love my Cosmo Black 3DS, but while that one looks slick, this one looks drab and monotone.

I've been waiting for a limited edition 3DSxL to upgrade to... why doesn't the US get the Luigi one?????

I'm also not sure whether to change from my Cosmo Black, although now I can at least consider it.

do the 3DS and the 3DS XL use the same chargers? (apart from the cradle itself)

why wasn't this released at launch?

I will wait to see if the pokemon x/y xl comes to the US. If not this one may help me upgrade

I'll upgrade to an XL when it doesn't look like a toy from the $1 Store. Still hanging on to my black Ambassador 3DS. Much sexier.

@Buduski It's ok having a red 3DS XL, I mean I'm planning on getting a blue one and this black one seems too plain and simple so I wouldn;t or rather I don't want to wait for it.

NOW I'M ANGRY.. I just purchased the blue XL because I was convinced the black was never coming.

Oh well, I'll wait for Capcom to release their darker shell color for the XL and just get that.

I'm good with my Animal Crossing XL

The black at least makes the XL look like a real console, the red and blue XLs do look like they were made by Hasbro and should be $35 toys, the originals w/ the layered colored glass effect - we have blue, red and pink in our house - look like real electronics.

Both my kids have $5 pre-order GC for X+Y (1 each) at Target so if they were going to upgrade to XL they would want the gold and blue Pokemon editions, which makes it worth laying out the cash for.

I hope this is true. Been waiting for this to upgrade.

Personally, I have a 3DS and I like that WAY better than a pure black 3DS. Cool new 3DS shade, if your looking for complete black.

The day an all black XL hits the states is the day I will finally invest in a 3DS. I'd like to know what's taking so long though. It seems to be the color that many ppl have wanted for quite some time now.

After more than 11 months on store shelves, they have finally given us a color option that should have been available on day one. This is the best news I've heard in a long time. I've badly wanted an XL ever since they were announced, but I've been holding out for one that doesn't look like a Fisher Price toy. I will be standing in line at midnight to get one of these.

Matte finish, rounded edges, sleeker design, bigger screens, better battery life, improved buttons, better d-pad, bigger stylus, etc. The XL is truly an improvement on the original design in literally every way.

@Tony_342 Lol me too, the Red & Blue 3DS XLs do like like a toy. I will finally get a XL when this Black version release!

I'll just wait for the inevitable Zelda-themed XL when TLOZ:Link Between Two Worlds comes out.

It's a shame I bought my XL when New Leaf was released, I swear if this was released before June I would've bought it without a second thought.

Finally, timing works in my favor! The joys of watching your kids grow into your favorite hobby are paved with broken controllers and smashed touchscreens. Good ol' "Blu", you served me and my family well. Hopefully my new "Metallica Black" will fare a bit better!

I just bought a Blue 3DS XL in NJ. I think I'm going to return it to hold out for the Black one or a Zelda Link Between Worlds Edition. And this is why I don't do digital with Nintendo!! No way to tie to an account...

In the meantime, I was thinking of picking up a Wii U for Pikmin and the VC.

A cooler color will eventually come out. The wait is not fun however. I have 10 DS/3DS games on my self just waiting to be played. Many of which I've never played.
