Looks intresting . its going to flop but Nvidia doesn't care. This is just a gambit to get more games on the android platform and have a dev style device to showcase Tegra 4.
Is making a demo really extra work? On XBLA the whole game is downloaded and cuts off after you hit a certain point giving you the option to purchase the game'
Why are people taking his COD comment as being literal. He means that the playerbase on the Wii U is lower than what will be on the PS3/360. The Wii U version doesn't really have anything that makes it a big selling point compared to the last gen (360/PS3) versions like the 360 had with Call of Duty 2. Wiimote controls would be enough for me but lacking content from the other versions (DLC support, nuketown). The same thing could be said about franchises like madden and fifa.

Sakurai owns a PS3 and even wrote a colunm on fatmisu about why dark souls was such a great game. He even frekaed out on twitter when he lost a playstation save.
Give me something similar to Katsuya Terada's artwork for the next zelda game. Have it take place after Zelda II and rift around Twilight Princess and Lord of The Rings.
Well the vita shows that sony can use not custom off the shelf parts to keep costs down, while microsoft is rumored to not only carry two product skus but theyhave been testing cheap subscription based 360s since the summer.
This seems useless awesome design aside. Most people would pick this up as a cheap netflix/hulu box that also plays wii and retro games. Seems like only an idiot not knowing their market would take out online of something that's competing onprice of a roku or apple TV, even the rumored xbox TV, or a $200 360.
Damn it nintendo. This being honestly cheap could have bolstered faltering wii sales abit as the wii u is out of stock.
Yet guess what system won't be the lead platform in most cases. That and the wii u has a weaker ecosystem than the competing microsoft and Sony platforms.
1. What if the ported game flops. Working on a new product would probably increase the devlopment of the port. (Its good in the long run but THq doesn't have that luxary)
2. THq is only publishing the game not developing. The dev wants to keep costs down incase thq dies. They can't start working on a expensive port if their unsure.
Again THQ's problems were due in part to mangement as well as an over inflated marketing budget, and making an xbox/playstation version of the Udraw. If you look at the majority of their games they are mostly AA budget wise. Problem is no one buys their products.
Its funny how you say price is king when Microsoft is rumored to working on a low priced ($99-$200) xbox set top product alongside the big expensive 720. This would allow nintendo to be outgunned on both ends of the spectrum. Not only but microsoft has been working with retailer on a subsized version of its console and have been testing it out with the xbox 360 since the summer. This would allow them to still out class the Wii U but also be able to compete or even undercut on price.
Also dev costs won't inflate as much as people think for a few reasons. The biggest is that until probably late 2014 the majority of games will be cross generational. Games like watchdogs and Star Wars 1313 are going to have a Durango/Orbis varient which will be very highend and close to the trailers for both games, there will also be last gen varients giving them a bigger marketshare not having to worry about a potential flop. Another big factor of why costs will stay the same are because during the middle and end of this gen most pubs started development of engines that could be used in many different types of games (Anvil, frostbite, lumionous) that sharing of resources will keep costs down as will middleware like Unreal and cryengine.
Good. Take your time to get really indepth with each of the games instead of some of the quick and dirty reviews of both the console and the game i've seen .
I'll still get a wii u because of nintendo and eshop games. However with the crappy cpu and slow ram speeds I can easily see the wii U getting shafted like the wii. So far a lot of launch day ports have little too no care taken with them, these same devs are skipping the wii U as far as the bulk of games hitting early next year (wii u us still going to have some high profile stuff with Pikmin, wonderful 101, and monster hunter) and with wii U having troubles with last gen games I'm going to hate to see what happens when the other next gen systems launch .
Wii U is stuck in this weird place do to nintendo having to skip on certain hardware to make it more affordable. (Still taking a loss however) I'm expecting a lot of software for a while to be cross-generation and the wii U will probably end up dissapointingly getting the last gen version as well.
Yep with Xbox live you get 512MB of cloud storage (windows phone 8 and windows 8 games don't have a cap), while I think PS+ gives you a either the same amount or 1GB currently.
Good for moving around saves, making room, and making sure they don't get deleted by mistake.
Basic stuff right is having an account system that actually works. Also I agree that xbox coming late to the broswer game is bad. (Though they did it with good reason)
Speaking of browsers or TV internet experiences which are better than the wii u.
Apple TV and ipad airplay Google TV and android devices Xbox ie with windows phone and windows 8 A stand alone tablet.
But as far as convience the wii U browser is still pretty good and that's what the most important thing is.
At the rate where the market is goin (something that's pure gaming is dead) microsoft is far more prepared at a commercial and ecosystem level. Given that and microsoft being a more profitable company than nintendo means the likely hood of that is slim too none.

Re: Fuzzy Wuzzy Games Is Rolling Armillo Onto The Wii U eShop
Cool Nintendo seems to be working well with indies.
Makes me wonder what Microsoft and Sony plan to do next gen.
Re: Nintendo of America Outlines Upcoming Q1 eShop Releases
I thought Mutant Mudds Delxie and Two Brothers was this quarter.
Also Fire Emblem Demo today.
Re: Nintendo of America Outlines Upcoming Q1 eShop Releases
Somewhat depressing on the Wii U side.
Re: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Receiving Day-One Keyboard Update
Will this game have Voice chat? (its sad you have to ask this question in 2013)
Re: Interview: Curve Studios' Jonathan "Bidds" Biddle
Great Interview. Glad to hear from multiple sources how great Nintendo is when it comes to working with indie developers.
There is still some stuff I think they need to work on but I think the eshop is a great first step and has a lot coming down the line/.
Re: Feature: A Tour of the Two Tribes HQ
Still playing through the first game on my 3DS. Looking forward to tiki tori 2 and hope it does well.
Re: Ubisoft: Wii U Power Meant No Limitations For Rayman Legends
Its a 2D plat former so I wouldnt expect it to tax the Wii u that much.
Re: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Coming To Wii U And 3DS
Cool DC universe is probably my favorite of the Lego games.

Will the round table compare it two other digitalservices and where nintendo is doing better (more flexable for developers) or where it needs work on.
Re: Developer Interview: WayForward Technologies on the First Days of the Wii U eShop
Good its working out for them. Hope they make something similar to their aliens game for next gen.
Re: Monolith Soft: We Want To Be Like Bethesda

Rage was by Id software
Rouge warrior was by rebellion games
There's a difference in development and publishing

An analyst's job isn't to be right. Also the public stuff he talks is different than his job at wedbush.
Re: Pachter: "I think Nintendo becomes completely irrelevant"
@Happy_Mask
But the 3DS is doing below expectations in all markets expect Japan. The 3DS and Vita are both losing ground to mobile games.
Re: Pachter: "I think Nintendo becomes completely irrelevant"
Eh I disagree with the completly irelavnt part but I do agree that I'll probably never go with just a nintendo console again.

Re: Iwata: We Don't Want To Emulate Xbox Live and PSN
Eh I wish theywould have system wide achievements seeing as devs have to make them for other platforms anyway.
Also to the poster who complained about ads. Most of them are content that can be used or bought on the xbox.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Shrinks Prices and Consoles
Lack of online is what kills this model for me. Would love to get a cheap console for only VC.

You do realize that THQs problems come from over reaching marketing budgets and bad mangement and not development right?
Anywho expecting them to close down once the date hits and all its IP sold off to the highest bidder.

Re: 2K Boss Has No Doubts That Wii U Will Be Successful
I doubt theWii U or any other console will probably ever hit the amount of numbers the Wii did.
Nintendo impresses everyone but for what ever reason never enough to put substantial development resources behind its platforms.
Only developer who has brought their A game so far has been Ubisoft.

Well the potential is there I'm just worried like the wii the wii u won't reach its full potential.
I think being on gaf all the time and the GB wii u livestream has made me a bit cyncial.

The wii lasted six years and software support was killed inyear five with massive droughts.
The ds may have had a good life span but the wii didn't.

You haven't used many other broswers have you?
And what are you talking about regarding the ps3?
Also its disheartning nintendo can't get basic stuff right.
Re: Reggie - Wii U Is "Absolutely The Beginning Of A New Generation"
Next gen is about new consoles and not about power. I'm expecting next gen to play out with sony in thrid behind nintendo and microsoft.
