They should just focus on fixing all their broken controller designs, from joycon drift to abysmal dpads.
Leave the game design to the people who’s customers desperately need working controllers. Maybe let someone outside the mario factory test it first...maybe play it for more than 8 hours...maybe push more than a jump button occasionally.
Lol, it’s been four years...time to release a functioning Switch already.
I started playing, and I actually really like it, but work just wipes me out every day. I should make more of an effort on my day off.
The RPG element that I saw was very simple auto-incremental stats, but I guess it’s turn based and there are different abilities.
It is pretty innovative in that my mana pool is my body. Like I’m gonna cast another spell that hurts less for a turn. But maybe when I’m stronger, I can spam cast my favorite spell.
@Daymonkey I know what you mean with how enemies are sorta bouncy with the physics. That sounds really good. I’m looking down the barrel of Blue Fire as well.
I might have to quit my day job just to get caught up.
@COVIDberry I fully agree. Creating 3D assets and rendering them in a pleasing way is only a small part of the problem.
How do you create a 3D spacial awareness, give your protagonist ways to maneuver, and perform different actions in that 3D space? Movements that make sense to the player, and are intuitive. How do you make the player totally comfortable, traversing all axis with ease? This where Nintendo first party stops. At comfort.
NOW you can ramp up the difficulty, and really challenge the player...WITHIN that fun space you’ve created. None of the game’s difficulty should be putting up with poor design.
Creating a fun 2D game is challenging enough, and the possibilities endless. I certainly am not going to pretend that as a player, I’ve mastered even 2D games...these titles are HARD!
I haven’t even seen the real boss for Dead Cells yet. 🥺
I bought the black one and had the black GBA bottom and matching LAN card. I bought it modded so I could use a physical switch to make it run games from Japan. Lost it all in a storage unit a while back. Ce la vie.
I do like the purple a lot. Maybe I’ll track one down one of these days. Aren’t they stupid expensive now tho?
1) Gameplay is king...while I may not be progressing through plot devices and narrative...battle after battle is actual gameplay, and I prefer that over dicking around town or questing or exploring or anything else not playing.
2) Where I agree is: running in circles to find enemies, so you can enjoy the actual meat of the game is dumb...and you still have to advance the plot somehow, usually by ignoring the actual game and doing some stupid *****
It’s more a problem with the RPG genre...better to just buy action games IMO. Put the fun in my veins, cause I don’t need a bunch of plot chores.
Wasn’t really a fan of NASCAR till I saw a bunch of rednecks stand up for a black friend. I’ve been looking for a racy car vroom game for my switch anyway...
Oh yeah, the courses are just circles huh...aaand meh
So lazy. Instead of designing a game, we’re just going to sell you our tools instead.
I never liked their games anyway. Fully 3D space game with a forced horizon your ship is always leveled too. No thanks. I guess the bump mapping is cool? 🤷♂️
After all the gameboys I bought to play this game back in the day, they can eat a bag of dicks if they think I’m spending one more penny on that terrible videogame.
Can I just say how messed up it is that this even has to be clarified? Nintendo’s biggest mistake with the Switch IMO, is physical carts that don’t actually have a playable game on them. Well, and the availability of carts overall.
I would love to see more developers do this. Graphics isn’t gameplay, and honestly most art directors should be fired for their inability to visualize scene composition, and organize ‘busy’ detail and color in a way that isn’t confusing to the limited attention budget of a typical player.
Add a disability like color blindness to the equation, and I just feel bad for these gamers. Good for this developer! (never played this game, just sayin)
it’s especially cool when you realize the design tools they were all using...even a big company like Nintendo had to go it on their own, all while figuring it out along the way
...you gotta recognize how back then, the ingenuity required to pioneer every aspect of 3D simulations must have sparked a creativity that permeated through all departments...what an exciting time
you can see it in the quality of videogame OoT is compared to something bland, and derivative of itself...something I won’t name to spare tears 🥺
@Desrever I am also stuck at 2sc, but I logged 150 hours into Hades first...
I started playing Risk of Rain 2 and haven’t made it past the third boss, and now I’m getting addicted to it, but I really want to get further in DC
...at some point they should make a new game with all this content...it sounds weird, but I read someone the other day suggest a rogue-like can get bloated, and I have to agree
I haven’t paid for the last DLC yet, cause I feel like I haven’t finished the game yet till 5SC. Lol, 5. 🐔
Edit: wait, are they called boss cells?...I was calling them stem cells

Re: This 1999 Interview Suggests Miyamoto Was Thinking About The Wii During The N64 Era
Miyamoto and his kids are why nintendo went the insufferable ‘everyone wins’ design route.
I honestly can’t stand him, much less the entitled white idiots that jerk off to his style.
If you feel triggered right now, you’re a ***** moron.
Re: Blizzard's Diablo II Remaster Will Support Your Old Save Files
Good news for the five people that not only used offline save files, but saved them for twenty years.
Then again, isn’t playing the game the whole point? Accidental non-feature spawns clickbait across what’s left of the internet.
...we’re all probably responding to AI. Hell, the rest of you are probabl... 🤯
Re: The Binding Of Isaac: Repentance Will Come To Switch This Summer
Nice! Physical copies were too expensive, I will buy this.
Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For March And April 2021
I already have my Hades preorder in.
Was gonna try a monster hunter game, but ghosts n goblins is too much fun to care right now.

Re: Soapbox: Super Mario 3D World Is The Closest To A Super Mario Bros. 2 Sequel We'll Ever Get
Mario 2 suuuucked. Wasn’t even a Mario game during development, and wasn’t made by Nintendo.
Cool story, bro.
Re: Review: Project Starship X - An Unconventional Shmup That's Full Of New Ideas
This game is really fun!
I got dragged away by Cybershadow and Blue Fire, but I’ll definitely be back soon.
Re: Ori Director Apologises For Previous Criticism Of Fable, No Man's Sky And Cyberpunk Developers
Why apologize? Tell them how it is!
It sure makes me feel less guilty telling you that the font in Ori2 sucks, and the combat doesn’t carry the average platforming past the finish line.
Re: Nintendo Will Discuss Upcoming Switch Games "At The Appropriate Time"
They should just focus on fixing all their broken controller designs, from joycon drift to abysmal dpads.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th February (North America)
Blue Fire is very good so far.
A couple of small bugs, and one typo are the only negatives.
The first boss had a little jankiness tbh, but nothing broken.
I really like the platforming, and the world design.

Re: Review: Gods Will Fall - An Addictive And Original Nintendo Switch Roguelike
Rogue-like to me just means non-casual, old skool type games that don’t hold your little hand along the way.
That means a Game Over screen.
That means you might not get the master sword. That means you might not have the juice to see a lot of the game.
I don’t care what you call it...I never even played rogue.

Ungph, so. many. games
@Daymonkey that’s too bad, what separates this game from Hades and Dead Cells? Both are god-tier games.
Re: Cyber Shadow Only Used A Quarter Of Its Written Story and Lore
3D is very hard to get right. Platformers, and bullet hell games are still trying to figure it out.
I bet most of these people that complain about 2D or ‘flash games’ are really complaining the games are too hard.
Add another dimension like Returnal? Just make fun of the art and move on, because deep inside you know you don’t have what it takes. 🤷♂️
Re: Mario Tennis Has Some Competition As Gachinco Tennis S Hits The Japanese Switch eShop
MT64 is the greatest elbow bumper of all time! Better than Smash...better than Goldeneye, or Halo.
Everyone gets a turn in the back-court. The different arcade-like modifiers were fantastic!
I wish I had a cart of that still...and an N64 to play it...and some nerd friends...and the end of the pandemic...lol
I sold Aces :/
Re: Poll: Which Is Your Favourite GameCube Console Variant?

Whoever made Aces screwed the pooch by using split screen.
Re: Soapbox: Grinding Is Poor Gameplay Design That Doesn’t Respect Your Time
Here’s the thing, I kinda agree and disagree.

Re: Wacky Shmup Parody Project Starship X Launches On Switch Today
@Nermannn I love my flipgrip, but my monitor stand lets me flip in docked mode too. I wonder if they make TV mounts like that.
edit: no setting yet...there’s a lot of UI stuff on the sides, so it might not be an option
Mario level is dope, bet Nintendo sues them lol. Already on stage 4, but I refuse to call the game easy yet, these guys are just toying with me lol
Re: Wacky Shmup Parody Project Starship X Launches On Switch Today
pff, that trailer totally sold me, thanks for the heads up ❤️
7.99 after 20% discount. So many great cheap games. Is this real life? 🥺

Re: DICE Awards Finalists Include Hades, Ori, Spiritfarer, Animal Crossing, And Mario Kart Live
Ori is average at best with brilliant art. I wish it would stop getting considered for gameplay awards.
Hades fully deserves every accolade it gets, in any catagory.

Re: Video: 13 Great Wii U Games Still Not on Switch
There’s so much to play on Switch, I’m totally baffled by the responses to this story.
Nintendo isn’t going to give you a powerful gpu, and they are just going to keep making games that are boring derivatives of themselves.
Do you really need another terrible Mario or Zelda? If these games had different names, nobody would look twice.
Some of the best innovation in decades is happening all around you, but you you don’t have anything to play. wtaf

Re: Physical Version Of Kingdoms of Amalur For Switch Includes The "Full Game" On Cartridge
@jtmnm what about the gameplay makes it arcade like?
Will I be running around looking for it in an open world, or does this arcade (battles) gameplay happen a lot? Honest question.
Re: Physical Version Of Kingdoms of Amalur For Switch Includes The "Full Game" On Cartridge
Can I just say how messed up it is that this even has to be clarified? Nintendo’s biggest mistake with the Switch IMO, is physical carts that don’t actually have a playable game on them. Well, and the availability of carts overall.

@thesilverbrick That opinion is popular with me!! ❤️
Re: Video: 27 Years Later, Early Donkey Kong Country Concept Sketches Are Revealed To The World
Kinda funny...hand drawn art as concept, so 3D artists could model and texture everything, so 2D keyframe animations could be rendered.
I love me some DKC, but I wonder how it would have looked if they skipped the middleman and used hand-drawn art for the final product.

Re: Fancy A Second Switch Dock For Your Bedroom Or Office? Now's Your Chance
Just get a new Switch. You’re gonna need the replacement Joycons anyway, plus you were just gonna get the base for $60,
So $299-80-60 is a $159 switch (non-lite) for the other room or dog other to co-op.
$60 is way too much for the electronics in the dock. Ugly even for Nintendo.
Re: Nintendo Switch Online Members Get Free Trial Of Dead Cells In Europe Next Week

Re: Rumour: Datamine Apparently Reveals All About The New Nintendo Switch Revision
I read die shrink and battery. I'm way cool with that. 😎
If it runs cooler with better battery, they might even up the clocks some while still running cooler longer.
...and most important, it will run my carts. I hope this news is true.
