I'm not gonna pretend it's ok to use copyrighted material...let your game stand on its own.
Nintendo has to see all the demand for different and interesting games with their characters. Seems like making some would be a good idea, but maybe this will help. 🤷🏼♂️
There should be a distinction between streaming for profit, and hanging out online playing videogames...the later of which is akin to having a friend over to play videogames. Especially in a PANDEMIC. These companies are all making record profits rigjt now, and should really tread lightly.
At some point, with all the rules about how I can use/repair or resell the hardware and software I BUY, these companies can all sod off...I'll find a hobby that doesn't require a lawyer lol
Reloading is too engrained in the design to disable, imo. You get that early reload if you time it right, and those values are faster and slower for different guns.
I can't imagine certain shotguns would be half as rewarding if you didn't get that quick reload timing just right between each shell. Feels like pumping a shotgun!
The crashes I ran into weren't that frequent, but enough to deter progress in a rogue-like. If you counted the number of timed I've loaded a new level vs. fails, that % is just too high for me. It seems to only happen while teleporting to a new level.
This game is a lot of fun, but it's difficult enough to get to the end, without
the game crashing.
I haven't played a lot of twin stick shooters, so I dunno if it's new, but I like the headshot mechanic quite a bit, all while reloading, fixing jams etc...very engaging. ❤️
This game was still worth the $12, despite crashes, but I had to put it on the back burner till they patch it. Maybe they will tighten up the menus some too.
I'm still waiting for a 60fps racer on Switch that I can play in handheld mode, using the gyro to control my steering by using the switch like a steering wheel.
Not "pushing" one side forward of the other, but actually steering. Seems like a no-brainer devs, and pretty easy to add as an option.
We all know Nintendo was the obstacle here. Good for supergiant games for fighting for their customers! Time for a physical release, so we can show some more gratitude.
@tylerryan79 I know what you mean...but it's actually really cool...try just aiming in a direction with the retical, then try to pull the depth back so your aim is right on, you do really good damage this way
you can play like a regular twin stick and ignore the retical, you'll just do less damage, your bullets will still go that direction
stick with it, and it starts feeling really good, especially when you start throwing out clips and reloading and all while dodging and recharging shields
i love that reloading early discards ammo...there's a lot of great design here
It's a lot of fun. It controls a little janky at first. You twin stick to aim, and if you can nail the distance, not just the direction, you can do more damage with a 'headshot'. It's just slightly stuttery close to you or as your crosshair moves through you. It's obvious you're supposed to fight at range.
There are lots of weapons so far, they are useful and generous. Lots of items I'm still trying to figure out, and secondary abilities.
There's a recharging shield, and you can heal red damage too with an ability on cooldown. Lots of challenge regardless.
Loading is fast. I wish the controls were slightly smoother, especially close to your character, but you get used to it.
Super addictive so far. Good music. Premise is simple...just the intro screen.
I like it. Need lots more time...menus n ***** are a bit confusing...and I'm not sure what I'm unlocking between runs...not sure I care yet.
I can't think of a console with a better collection of innovative action games from indie devs...throw japanese made action games in the mix?...i have so much to play and so little time
I don't really care so much about graphics, but 60 fps is nice, and good art appreciated
meanwhile, in the AAA space, those that can even get cyberpunk to run say it's a terrible game at its core
I don't understand why a line cook like me isn't allowed to make a living, but this guy's opening a videogame store. Totally necessary.
The salon owner down the street can do hair cause her friends have assault rifles. Liquor stores are open. Marijuana dispensaries.
I do take this pandemic seriously, but why am I the only one? People see opportunity in tragedy, and spread disease at the expense of everyone. It's kinda gross.
@Quantaur Yeah, I'm not a prime member, so two-day(cause come on lol) cost me like $11 I think.
I'd still have paid more if it meant being here already. I didn't know I was choosing the discount January option.
...but w/e, this game looks so good (like the first), and the developers made such an awesome effort, I'm not gonna let another month get me down...I really wanted the physical version of this, and it will be worth the wait.
I guess I can always donate a few bucks to save the rainforest seperately. 😛
Lets be honest, there are different meanings to this phrase 'for kids'. Kids like whatever the older kids and 'grown-ups' like. So it isn't an issue of trying to get them interested.
What we are really talking about is a safe environment that parents trust. This means a healthier, bigger userbase to sell games to. Now that the indie market is so fantastic at making games, that userbase will drive tons of content.
It's not the gamecube days where there's maybe a dozen must owns...it's raining videogames these days. Like really great videogames. I say keep the kids safe and parents happy. Switch is pure joy right now.
@Dinh Yeah, these kind of indie, rogue-ish games are Switch bread and butter. I just preordered...was like 12 bucks after coins.
You can see the old school live on in these games. I mean, I love spending $60-70 on some franchise glory. I'm sure I get 20+ hours out of HW:AoC. I bought the physical copy lol.
Don't forget, Ori physical versions drop in Dec. I've been waiting to play Will of the Wisps cause this double dipping habit of mine is killing my wallet.
This game was super button mashy and dull till I turned up the difficulty. In VH, you have to pay more attention to timing your dodges for flurries, and sync your tablet abilities to the biggest thing in the room.
This game is much more legit at a good difficulty. If they just made VH the default mode, and call normal 'casual', I think people's first impressions would be much better, and word of mouth would carry this game further in the sales charts.
Gamers are masochists, and if you treat them with that much respect, they'll learn your game and like it. I almost went back to playing Hades, but I gave the harder difficulties a chance first, and I'm glad I did.
Hades should be at the top of every list. I'm at 100 hours and have only killed hades with 4 of the weapons, and only select aspects.
This game only gets better and better. The more I play, the more I lesrn to use seemingly useless aspects with awesome boon combinations. The music is great. The story keeps going, and I have so much to unlock still.
Hades isn't just goty status, it's legit goat status. I have a backlog of games I can't wait to play, if I could pull myself from this game. Don't skip this one!

Re: Soapbox: Since When Did Physical Releases Stop Being About Physical Games?
I love and hate the situation now where finding a cart of a good game is difficult because it's a collectable.
btw, I'm looking for isaac and gungeon...I have Ori2 and Hyrule Warriors for trade, maybe Bloodstained. 😃🤷🏼♂️
Re: Talking Point: Are You A Player Or Collector?
I try to only collect physical copies of replayable games.
Speaking of which, I have an Ori2 cart up for trade, looking for isaac and gungeon.

Gradius5 on the other hand...just port it already!!!

Theseus has the best lines...I think cause the game was originally about him and Asterius.
Extreme measures Thesius had me in stitches.

Re: Random: Nintendo Had To "Politely Decline" The Chance To Work With Kanye West, Says Reggie
It's because he's literally tone-deaf. The programmers couldn't tell the computer what note he was trying to sing.
Since you can't get a computer high on drugs, the developers were at a loss to make the cpu 'understand'.

Re: Nintendo Indie World Showcase To Air Tomorrow, 15th December
Lots of hope here. Indie games are were videogames are at right now.
AAA games are boring, safe, and overpriced. I'm not interested in 8-hour one and done interactive movies. I'm bored of franchises.
I can get lost in a clever indie game for hundreds of hours, and for a whole lot less than $60.
Gonna watch for sure <3

I can't say I'm a fan, except monkey ball. SMB1 single player was a masterpiece.
I'm honestly confused. As an adult, I came extremely close, but never unlocked the fabled master mode.
If that game was for children, there's no way I want to play 'adult videogames'.
Sounds creepy just to say out loud. 'Adult videogames'.
