Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

@ATaco If you think it is wrong. I don’t really care if they list every person that worked on something in the credits of the game, film, show, etc. As long as they don’t deny the person worked on something, I’m good. That’s where it matters. No one gets an applicant and pulls up a game to find the credits. This is just pointless drama people in the real world of hiring don’t actually care about.

I also think there is something to be said about a list of - let’s say animators - for Metroid being listed where 30 of them put in years of work, 50-60 hour weeks, blood sweat and tears, and the person who worked there for 1 week being listed with them.

Yeah, nope. Put it on your resume, not making in game credits.

@Crono1973 I think I misunderstood your initial comment. You are actually talking about how we don’t know a lot of the development staff on games. I feel like this is like wondering why people know the cast/director/writer, but don’t know animators, costume designers, sound effects people, etc. just the nature of the job - it is in the background, so it is… in the background.

Re: Blizzard Outlines Plans To Rename Popular Overwatch Character

@ImmortanJho what am I missing here?

1. You can skip the articles. NL doesn’t need to stop posting them.
2. Who is defending the accused specifically? I only see people calling it a PR stunt, a pointless move as no one knew the history of the character in the larger player base, or defending “innocent until proven guilty” (which is not the same as defending the person)

If it were my game, I’d change the name. That said, I also know most people don’t care or know who the guy is.

@nessisonett I think I read two comments defending “innocent until proven guilty”, so maybe that is what you would call people defending him. Other than that, they are just comments saying this is a PR stunt that means nothing for changing the actual culture of the organization. Not sure what is wrong with that opinion, but feel free to debate those people.

Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages

buggysdad

Let’s say 15 people sent him abusive messages. Would you really consider that the Metroid Community? Give me a break. That does not represent the majority of people. Most people hear his response and think, yup, that sounds reasonable. There are millions of people that love Metroid, so a handful of internet trolls isn’t really reflective of the “community”. If he said thousands of people were doing this, I’d be floored.

Re: Activision Blizzard CEO Agrees To Cut Huge Salary And Bonuses Following Industry Backlash

@Kienda But what if those employees were not a good fit? What if the team wasn’t? He might make the final decision, but in a company that big you have a lot of people doing months or years of research and presenting data over and over, before a massive lay off happens. He didn’t wake up and say “fire them, so I can get $15 million”.

(I don’t know who the 800 were or even who this guy is)

Re: Nintendo Switch Is Getting Official Fortnite Joy-Con

@Heavyarms55 what is wrong with enjoying a game and be given the ability to customize your character for a fee? Seems reasonable. I was the default skin for a long time. Master Chief came out and I bought it. Still going strong since December.

I know quite a few players that just use default. The gameplay and concept is still a ton of fun.
