Re: Kirby Developer HAL Laboratory Teases New Projects For 2021

@JohnBlackstar it is easy to miss good games as adults and more so as kids. Star Allies is an absolute riot in multiplayer. Consider telling them the next time they want to play that they can, but only game X (start with Star Allies). A lot of kids forget what they have. Doing this every now and then breathes new life into games we already own. We just went through a month long Mario Maker 2 adventure after making them play it one day.

Re: Nintendo Is Facing Another Class Action Lawsuit For Joy-Con Drift

@Park_Triolo I manage 7 Switches for various family members and friends. More than 25 joy-cons between them. All but two have been sent back to Nintendo multiple times. The two that haven't been sent back? A 1 month old Switch.

I just sent off eight yesterday. E I G H T. These Switches are predominantly played by younger kids who have no clue why the cursor moves all over the screen or that Link keeps walking when nothing is being pressed. That is just part of the game to them. Nintendo has always replaced them for free - even out of warranty - but I wish there was a true solution. This year alone has seen me send off five repair orders for joy-cons.

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

Every time one of these is posted I chime in with the same story:

I manage five, yes F I V E, Switches. About 20 joy-cons between them. All, yes A L L, have been sent back numerous times over the last three years. I've had four rounds of replacements in 2020 alone (not all were duplicates, but some were). This is a huge problem, but I'm guessing there is not a way to correct the problem without redesigning the controller or it would have already been corrected. I have 2017 remotes, the AC Switch remotes, Switch 2.0 remotes (the one with the better battery), and all have the same fate. All of the people who play are younger and all play Zelda. That is a game where drift shows how bad it makes gameplay. When Link starts walking through Hyrule when you are trying to be stealthy or setup for the perfect shot, it drives the player crazy. I can't tell you how many times I have went to someones house that has a Switch and they are actively playing with drift. Fortnite characters running sideways... How annoying. (I probably can tell you how many times... probably 5-10. lol)

Re: Angry Players Are Starting To Review-Bomb Animal Crossing: New Horizons

I love how Nintendo pushes families to interact, but sometimes it comes back to bite them. It would have been way better to make this an option or make same-console islands connected via a bridge. Making everyone share an island was a cute idea, that doesn't work well in real life. My son - the island owner - has stuff everywhere and tells me not to touch anything. LOL

Re: Nintendo President Says Company Is Working On "New Methods" For Nintendo Labo

I own all three sets. My kids absolutely love them. I urged my mom to buy one for my nephews who had just got a Switch. She was very reluctant. She didn't think it would be something they wanted. She caved and bought it. My nephews celebrated at Christmas like they won the Super Bowl when they saw Labo. I think there is a disconnect when it comes to buying "cardboard" with parents. My kids love playing Labo, building, and then using the gear for games like Mario Kart. I have a toddler who went from driving backwards on Mario Kart, to finishing in first place once they had the motorcycle Labo kit. They "fish" from the top of their bunkbed like it's a boat. The weird house thing? My daughter shows it to almost everyone that visits. I'll buy any set they release - my kids have had hours of fun with these things.

@Yorumi I hear you. Agree with pretty much everything you said.

For a 3-4 year old playing a game like Mario 3D World along with his older sister, Mom and Dad, who doesn't quite have the coordination/reaction time to defeat enemies, but wants to contribute at his level - the white leaf is great. I prefer the way Mario handles it - gives you the leaf after so many fails AND it is still optional to use. Both of my kids got into Mario using the leaf as a crutch from time to time and now hardly ever get to the point where it is offered. Even with the leaf, my son would find creative ways to use most of the lives in the group.

Yoshi WW on the other hand makes you decide which mode you want and ALL players must be in that mode. It's better than nothing, though I would like different players to have different options.
