If you're on a quest to be the very best and catch every Pokémon in existence, you'll be pleased to know that the Pokémon HOME app will be getting a welcome upgrade in 2022.
Following the launches of upcoming titles Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl this November and Pokémon Legends: Arceus in January 2022, Pokémon HOME will be updated to include support for all three of these new games. This means that you'll be able to transfer Pokémon from the new games into HOME, just like you can currently with Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!.
Sword and Shield's Pokédex doesn't contain every Sinnoh Pokémon, so support for Diamond and Pearl (and Arceus) will no doubt be helpful in adding to your HOME collection. Slowly but surely, this current generation of mainline games and remakes on Switch is becoming a great way to get your hands on the majority of the 900 Pokémon that now exist.
If you missed them, make sure to check out the brand new trailers for both Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Legends: Arceus. Yesterday's Pokémon Presents also unveiled a new Dialga & Palkia edition Nintendo Switch Lite, which looks very swish indeed.

I want to know if that means we can get more pokemon that weren't in Pokemon SW/SH yet. Such as Bidoof, Murkrow, etc.
All well and good but if you can't put them into sword and shield they'll just sit in home where game freak will hold them hostage if you don't pay your fee
@moodycat except not a single pokemon game ever had every pokemon catchable so apps like home and bank where always necessary to complete the nat dex ever before it was cut. The apps just replaced the tedious process of swapping game cards to move 1 box of mons at the time.
@darkswabber True. The only problem is Sword/Shield not allowing a couple hundred species of Pokémon to be transferred in currently. Hopefully it gets updates to at least allow new Pokémon introduced in Legends Arceus to be transferred, otherwise there won't be any way to use them in online ranked battles with Legends Arceus being focused on singleplayer and not having that feature
What is the Pokemon Home app like now
This is good news indeed! Gives me hope that Home will indeed be what Bank should have been. A way to preserve our collection going forward from multiple games! So that when Pokemon rotate back into the format in future games, we can bring back existing members of those species we already have.
A couple years in and I still consider the limited Pokedex the correct decision. It made SWSH have a fantastic metagame in VGC that I really enjoyed!
I look forward to new formats continuing to bring new mixtures of new and returning Pokemon.
As a fan of TCGs like Pokemon, Hearthstone and MTG, rotations are a given and were long overdue in Pokémon's video games.
Alright! So... what can we do with them once they're in Home? (Except sorting them by NatDex number or something)
I remember the promise of "Gameplay functions" in PokeHome, i guess that went the way of "Pokemon Sleep", though.
I'll keep saying it: It feels bad to go into a new game and having to leave so many of my favourite pokemon behind, some of which have been moving from game to game with me for years, call it sappy, but i love those pokemon.
I love collecting ribbons on my pokemon for instance (My ambition being to make them look like North Korean generals with all the ribbons), well, no contest ribbons for most of my favourites, since i doubt pokemon like Primarina or Cinderace will make it into BDSP...
Sounds good. I do wish they either add more functionality to Home to make storing Pokémon more exciting if they aren't going to have them all be able to be in the games going forward
Still waiting on that bug fix for the extra unregisterable Rockruff in the Dex in Home.
It’s been almost 2 years.
Isn’t the plot of Legends to complete the first Pokedex? So like… I can just use my living dex in Home to nearly finish that task (except for the new additions) right off the bat?
@ShadJV
I'm willing to bet you can transfer Pokemon from Legends to Home, but not the other way around.
I wonder if there will be a future BDSP update where you'll be able to transfer your Hisuian Arcanine and Basculegion into the remakes. I would love to use them in competitive play.
@ShadJV I think this is why support is always delayed when a new Pokémon game launches.
