We've seen Nintendo fans use existing amiibos to create slightly different ones in the past, but rarely have we seen someone build one from scratch. That's exactly what artist Thomas Dulaney has done.
It apparently took him "about 10 hours of work" all up to 3D print and paint this custom Crash Bandicoot amiibo featuring a Super Smash Bros. base. He used an Elegoo Mars 3D Printer and the painting took a lot of "practice and technique".
Obviously, there are a lot of Smash fans out there who would love to see this long-time video game mascot added to the Ultimate roster. He's even been previously rumoured as a DLC fighter, and well, there are still some slots left to fill...
What do you think of this Crash Bandicoot amiibo? Would you like to see this character join the battle in Smash Bros. one day? Leave a comment down below.

I would put it next to Mario and recreate that photo from Mulan.
Why would you use one of the worse pictures as the headline? 😭
It looks great!!
“Woah!” — C. Bandicoot
I really hope crash doesn’t get in. I have no connection and will be very disappointed if he gets in
Man That looks amazing, and as long as i'm here might as well tell you guys my top three smash wish list.
1. Eggman, lord we need another sonic rep, mario, bowser, sonic, without eggman sounds like a nightmare (I nightmare I could very well end up living)
2. Crash bandicoot, Nuff said.
3. Tetris......yes I said it....Tetris.
I REALLY miss the trend of custom amiibos back in 2014. Not the ones where they removed the figure and added another, but the ones that were painted over and had extra parts put on to enhance it. Still an absolute joy to scroll down google images with those babies
@Snatcher
I'm not an advocate for Tetris but dangit I wanna see how it's done! If genius Sakurai can make up a moveset from a random G&W guy, a R.O.B. plastic toy, Wii Fit Trainer, and A PIRHANNA PLANT... I'm sure I'll love it to pieces after seeing it in action!
@CheekyZelda I have no connection either, but he deserves the spot way better than non-character Steve for example.
I say, bring Crash in. He is an icon in video gaming and once before a console-mascot
@fafonio I agree with all of this, but I do think steve deserved it, but then again you said that crash deserved it more, not that steve didn't, So ya I agree with you here, But I do have a connection to crash.
@fafonio
The whole concept of smash characters "deserving" a spot is ridiculous. Yeah it means a lot to have them in, but ultimately it is up to the creator/legal holder of said character if they WANT them in. Saying one characters deserves something over another invalidates what they were made for, there is no legal teir list on what is best or worst. A character can make a huge legacy without being in smash, they don't become validated only when in smash.
Know what would be funny? A Crash trailer for Smash similar to the one where a guy in a bandicoot costume goes to Nintendo parking lot challenging Mario, and then the Mario characters in the original N64 commercial and then some come out to challenge him in return.
@Severian
Genius. Then I want a mii costume of that, and a cinematic universe of crash mascot man
Good job using the 3D printer!
"Crash for Smash" is one of my predictions for Smash DLC (and I am currently using a Crash Mii in Miitopia, ha.)
@PBandSmelly @Severian even funnier: announcing Crash only as a Mii Costume. (The dlc character for the presentation can be the Gatekeeper from Fire Emblem or something like that).
Looking pretty cool. Dunno if I'd like him in Smash though. I'd probably prefer Spyro, but Crash seems to be the more popular of the two.
@Eel ohhh don’t bring that FE curse upon us again...
@Eel @PBandSmelly Those would all be funny!
@Eel I would actually prefer Crash as a Mii just so I can do the funny Sans meme.
@Eel
Better yet, trailer starts. It's Crash running through the level. He sees a letter and grabs it.
...Tawna calls for his help somewhere, Crash drops the letter and runs to her.
The letter lands on the first basic armadillo enemy on level 1.
A literal armadillo gets a splash screen and gameplay, followed by: "Releasing later today"
I adore complicated platformers but Crash games always felt haphazardly thrown together. Breaking boxes always felt like a tedious ripoff of Mario's blocks and it was always too easy to miss a jump because of bad camera/depth perception rather than legitimately clever game design. I just feel like if Crash came out today nobody would bat an eye, it'd be a freemium phone game at best, but the zany mascot really stood out in the 90's and people who never played Mario or Donkey Kong thought the platforming was acceptable because they didn't know any better. Obviously that's just my 2¢ but I never thought Sonic was any good either and I know millions disagree with me there so whatever. I get he's "iconic" and "recognizable" and "deserves" to be in but it will just end up being yet another disappointing DLC for me that I've already paid for so I can't complain.
@PBandSmelly Deserving something and getting it aren't the same thing though, I don't think anybody is saying they are. Smash Bros started as a celebration of Nintendo and it's games and has grown into a celebration of games in general. Being added to Smash Bros is kind of a recognition of a character or game being iconic, genre defining, classic or important to the history of gaming and Nintendo specifically (for the most part, the ones that people have been most against are the ones that least fit these criteria). It's like an interactive hall of fame of sorts, so obviously people feel some characters deserve to be in that hall of fame. It's obviously not the only validation, but it's a fun one people enjoy seeing characters get.
Crash is an iconic mascot from his era and has big ties to Nintendo's history in much the same way Sonic does. So in that sense he 'deserves' to be in Smash. Obviously whether or not a character gets in is down to Nintendo wanting them and their owner allowing it, but then as I said before, deserving something and getting it are not the same thing. But hey if people think something or someone is deserving but not getting, they're going to talk about it.
@CheekyZelda You wouldn't have to play as him. But then I don't have to play as Bowser Jr and I still wish he was never even created.
Without NFC functionality this is just a 3D printed model and not an Amiibo.
@noobish_hat They probably wanted a better looking model and probably enjoyed the process of making this.
@CheekyZelda I never played a Rayman game, that doesn't stop me from wanting him as a fighter.
@Eel Better Better yet, The trailer starts with crash going though Slippery climb, He falls you hear a whoa.......What the trailer ends.
Crash is an iconic character in video games, but there are other characters I personally would choose over him, such as Waluigi, Sora (KH), Shantae, Rayman, Gruntilda, Captain Syrup, or Cuphead.
Looks amazing! But I could never get into the Crash mania...
@SpaceboyScreams Crash 4 came out relatively recently, and it was an awesome game. It's simplistic, but it's challenging in usually fair ways.
@Snatcher Tetris? What are you? A…. GENIUS! This might be the single best Smash fighter I’ve heard of. Alt skin of GB colors!
