Button mapping is great as long as it can be tuned to multiple players and not just the primary player. Like whenever my buddy comes to play Smash, he has to use my button scheme and it screws him up.
Eh...pacing is very important in videogames. Ocarina was perfect in that regard, and why I think it's a better game. MM obviously had no pacing since you controlled the pace. That didn't sit well with me. And while it may have more things to do and interesting/weird stuff, it's not as memorable as Ocarina. Literally everything in Ocarina was memorable. It had SO much charm to it and felt like a real labor of love.
I don't care what Nintendo does as long as they make a big change and turn NSO into a streamlined GamePass Ultimate style service. Just something better than the convoluted mess they have now. That's really the issue here - they don't offer a modern solution to access old content. I've had better experiences with dial up modems and MS Gaming Zone.
I don't even care that it's been slow going. The entire platform is convoluted and it annoys the crap out of me. Between the Switch interface, the apps to launch, the expansion pack, and the phone app...it's a total mess of a system that doesn't even let you send game/party invites. I would love to game more online with my Switch but it's such a royal pain if you want to do it with friends. Nintendo is so behind the times it's embarrassing.
I didn't mind Navi at all. I personally felt it made Link's journey less lonely, especially during those creepy graveyard/underground sections or puzzling water temple sections. Now Fi on the other hand can go straight to hell.
Yea I'll just say it needs a few traditional style dungeons, but don't take away the shrines. A balance of both would be nice. Maybe some more thematic music for certain areas or towns would be cool. I love the BOTW soundtrack but it would nice to have some more original themes tied into the game.
I feel like most people aren't even thinking this. Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda....they are all very different from Nintendo. Nintendo is much more than just software (consoles, theme parks, movies, toys, etc).
I honestly don't think so. Just remember how epic BOTW is. Nintendo is making a sequel to their biggest game of all time, so it's gonna take longer than most people think. They won't rush it. And I don't care what anyone says about it being the same engine and re-used assets - it's still a massive undertaking, and we're still in a pandemic.
At this point they should just stick with 2D style Sonic games with a few 3Dish elements thrown in. I mean you see all the great indie 2D side scrollers that come out these days. Why not make a big budget 2D game, like Metroid Dread or Ori? I just hate that they keep trying to push Sonic where he doesn't belong, and it almost always means failure.
On the one hand, having no purple cube might have helped curb the kiddy image Nintendo really suffered at the time....just a tiny bit anyway. On the other hand, the purple cube is very iconic in retrospective. Plus, it would have been too similar to the other consoles at the time. Purple showed that Nintendo did things differently. Purple it may have been, but boring it was not.
BUMP MAPPING! I remember back in 2000 when bump mapping and volumetric fog were the latest tech tricks, just like ray tracing is the cool new thing these days. Rogue Leader was such a great game. I think I bought it along with my cube on launch day.

Re: Random: Even Tingle's Creator Thinks He's A Bit Creepy
@Not_Soos Yea that actually makes sense. Tingle is just loser Link.
Re: Random: Even Tingle's Creator Thinks He's A Bit Creepy
It's the fact that he's a grown man who refuses to grow up that makes him creepy. The skin tight one piece and beer belly doesn't help either.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online App Version 2.0.0 Includes Biggest Updates Yet
Discord is still just a way better option.
Re: Random: Uh Oh, It Looks Like Steam Deck And Switch Might Have One Thing In Common
It's like when you're an IT guy and tell the end user the problem is definitely fixed and won't happen again. Then it does. Yeesh!
Re: Naughty Metroidvania 'Wife Quest' Launches On Switch In March
Actually looks like a pretty good game. Title is hilarious.
Re: Zelda Is The Franchise Fans Want To See Next At The Cinema, According To Poll
Grand Theft Auto would be the best to take to the big screen. There's so much stuff to work with.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Sticks With Mario Kart 8 Through 2023, But What About Switch?
It was pretty obvious since they just launched OLED
Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 9th February 2022
@Primo40295 40 Mins of games we already know about and games we probably don't care about. YEA!
Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 9th February 2022
Damn the rumors were true!
Re: Mini Review: Retro Bowl - An Addictive 8-Bit Throwback That's Appropriately Super
I tried the mobile game and I wasn't a fan of no defense.
Re: Talking Point: Who Is Nintendo Going To Buy? Don't Be Shocked If The Answer Is "Nobody"
They should buy a company that can handle their online systems.
Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For February And March 2022
Advance Wars and Kirby so close....gonna spend a lot of time playing these two.
Re: Step Up To The Plate, MLB The Show 22 Is Coming To Switch
This is awesome but I'm not gonna hold my breath until I see some reviews. I'm like 75% sure it's gonna have some serious performance issues.
Re: The First Zelda Was Almost 100% Dungeons, According To Miyamoto
I could see why dungeons would be a huge pain, since they are essentially a bunch of puzzles within one large puzzle.
Re: The First Zelda Was Almost 100% Dungeons, According To Miyamoto
@EarthboundBenjy It's almost like things change over time
Re: Even Miyamoto Doesn't Like "Stupid" Navi In Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
I didn't mind Navi at all. I personally felt it made Link's journey less lonely, especially during those creepy graveyard/underground sections or puzzling water temple sections. Now Fi on the other hand can go straight to hell.
Re: Random: Link's Breath Of The Wild Bow Technique "Really Sucks", According To A Professional Archer
Slow news day huh
Re: It's Now Been Three Years Since Metroid Prime 4's Development Was Scrapped And Restarted
I don't expect a gameplay trailer for another two years

Re: First Activision, Now EA? FIFA Publisher Is Tipped For Takeover
Nintendo should buy EA, so they can actually have real sports games and Battlefield.

I feel like most people aren't even thinking this. Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda....they are all very different from Nintendo. Nintendo is much more than just software (consoles, theme parks, movies, toys, etc).
Re: Mini Review: Shadow Man Remastered - A Rich, Inscrutable World To Get Lost In
@shgamer Yea this is not an easy game. It will test your patience.

One of my favorite N64 games.

Holy cow that's a big one

I'll wait for reviews but damn if this doesn't look fantastic
Re: Talking Point: Could 'Mario Kart 9' Be The Smash Bros. Ultimate Of Racers?
I don't care what they do just make the online more robust. MK8 online runs great but the features are lacking.
Re: Nintendo Kicks Off Some Tasty Switch eShop New Year Sales (North America)
I'm def going for Doom Eternal
Re: Analyst Predicts 2024 Release Date For Next-Gen Nintendo Switch Successor
2024 seems about right to me. The OLED just got released, so Nintendo is gonna ride that for quite awhile.
Re: Poll: So, Do You Think Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Will Actually Release In 2022?
I honestly don't think so. Just remember how epic BOTW is. Nintendo is making a sequel to their biggest game of all time, so it's gonna take longer than most people think. They won't rush it. And I don't care what anyone says about it being the same engine and re-used assets - it's still a massive undertaking, and we're still in a pandemic.
Re: Random: Pandemic Shooter's eShop Page Makes You Wonder If Anyone At Nintendo Checks These Things
I mean I think its humorous because its making fun of conspiracy theorists. However, it's not really appropriate for the eshop.
Re: Poll: It's The Year Of Splatoon 3 - Are You Excited?
I have never been interested in this series. I at least gave it a shot a few times, but...not for me.
Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For January And February 2022
Looking forward to Alpaca Ball....
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity's Development Was A Real Pain In The... Grass
@Crockin What is this toon grass for kids? I want mature grass.
Re: Random: Did You Know About This Amazing Water Effect In The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?
BOTW is the gift that keeps on giving. I picked it back up again after a year or two...my god there are still so many things I'm discovering.
Re: Five Sega Genesis Games Have Been Added To Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack
I might get the expansion pack in a few years when it's actually worth it.
Re: GRIME Is A 'Soulslike Metroidvania' Heading To Switch Next Summer
I have so many metroidvanias to play and complete, including Metroid AND castlevania. Love the genre but man there's too many for me to keep up with.
Re: Poll: What's The Best Switch Game Of 2021? It's Time To Rate Your Favourites
Realized I've only purchased one game released (or rereleased rather) in 2021. Quake. So....QUAKE for me!
Re: Hey, Listen! Pre-Orders For This Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Hylian Shield Are Live
I want a life size shield made from steel. Let me know when that happens.
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate Nintendo's 2021?
Well if we include the stupid NSO expansion pack, I give them a 4/10. That really rubbed me the wrong way.

Why is everything in slow motion in that video? I want to see normal speed
Re: Review: Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain - A Fun-Filled, Budget-Friendly Party Plaything
Is this a good game to get for just two players? I'm old and no one parties with me except for my girlfriend.

On the one hand, having no purple cube might have helped curb the kiddy image Nintendo really suffered at the time....just a tiny bit anyway. BUMP MAPPING! I remember back in 2000 when bump mapping and volumetric fog were the latest tech tricks, just like ray tracing is the cool new thing these days. Rogue Leader was such a great game. I think I bought it along with my cube on launch day.
Re: Nintendo Is Offering Free Trials For Switch Online, Even If You've Used One Before (US)
@RetroOutcast This only applies to the standard account. They aren't even giving free access to the crappy emulation.
Re: Random: Brie Larson's Back In A New Metroid Dread Instagram Ad
@Classic603 That's not saying much since we've never had a Metroid movie. At this rate, I'll watch anyone who takes up that role.
