Re: Random: Ariana Grande Sang About Playing Mario Party And Mario Kart

@Crimson_Ridley respectfully, I have to disagree with you.

When I started Nintendo Life back in 2005 the goal was always to be a site that celebrates all of Nintendo and how it touches all aspects of life, more so than any other platform holder at the time. Nintendo's presence in pop culture is definitely part of what I always wanted the site to cover and frankly we always have over the years in various ways. We've also always reflected Nintendo's more fun sensibilities rather than trying to be dry and serious.

The stats for articles highlighting pop culture mentions of Nintendo like this suggest it's just as much of interest to our wider readership as any other type of content. Sure, some people aren't interested in it — and that's fine — no one expects every article to cater to every user.

The bottom line is, we've always covered this stuff, we've always wanted to cover this stuff and will continue to do so.

@Barbara001 the headline hasn't been changed.

@johnvboy you are free to not find an article interesting/relevant to you. Most people just skip it, if that is the case, rather than trying to complain about it with no basis. The image isn't misleading in any way.

Whether there is "no news" is a matter of opinion. We decide what articles we want to publish and stand by this article 100%. We don't expect every article to be relevant to every reader, the same as any other website.

@Agriculture we list the sales when they are provided by Nintendo in the press releases, so they will still appear. They only tend to do it when there are exciting discounts these days, which means there probably isn't anything very exciting this week.

Re: Dataminer Uncovers Support For Switch SDK In Fall Guys Game Files On Steam

@TheFullAndy yep, we do welcome constructive criticism.

The "spoiler" thing is difficult when it comes to rumours, ANY Fall Guys related post on NL would surely hint at the fact it might come to Switch? We have always reported on rumours as a large portion of our audience wants that, it's the site we wanted to create. It replaces what we had in the past where we'd meet up and discuss the what if's and what next of gaming. So whilst we'll accept that feedback it's not something we would change.

"There used to be a mission to review all the games coming out and whilst I do not expect that with the constant stream of games there has definitely been a marked reduction in the reviews of games and replaced by articles such as this which in the end do not amount to much."

It's true we aimed to review all wiiware/eshop games because it was possible, however, it's not possible to review all games on Switch. The facts of the matter are that we've actually increased the number of reviews in recent years, 608 in 2018, 503 in 2019. During the Wii U era it was between 350-450 year. So I have no idea why you'd think we're doing less reviews. We have more editorial staff now than before therefore more capacity for news and features.

We also have a wider audience than ever before, so what may be "obvious" to core readers, might not be so obvious to newer readers, Switch has broadened things massively for us.

Re: Series Producer Suggests Metroid Prime 4 'Won't Ignore Casual Players'

@datamonkey I guess there is a discussion about what this actually means though. Accessibility is perhaps the better term here. The accessibility in TLOU2 for example is outstanding and could be viewed as trying to cater for casuals with the different game modes. Catering to the hardcore doesn’t have to always exclude casuals.

Re: Series Producer Suggests Metroid Prime 4 'Won't Ignore Casual Players'

@BlueOcean shareholders is their point. Whilst it certainly is difficult to create something that caters for all, personally speaking, I found the existing Prime games a good balance. They had a strong focus on adventure (like the original 2D games) and a good amount of action. One of the most successful attempts at that balance I would say, so fingers crossed it continues.

Re: Series Producer Suggests Metroid Prime 4 'Won't Ignore Casual Players'

@datamonkey I kind of understand what you are saying, but at the same time, Nintendo, the company, are in the business of selling games to as many consumers as possible. So making something specifically for "hardcore" gamers would be bad business sense... which is why they have repeatedly gone for universal appeal where possible.
