@SquareOneMJ yeah I can see what you mean... typically though we like to see what new releases people are downloading, rather than anything, just to give the poll more purpose. Perhaps the last option should be "no new releases for me this week" though.
@RazumikhinPG yeah, as I already said before, they're not being sold as a replacement. I don't like using the single Joy-Con when playing on the go, so would certainly consider these to throw in my go-bag.
@RazumikhinPG it is being pedantic when the manufacturer is selling them as a pair of "more comfortable" Jon-Con controllers. It's even in the product name.
@locky-mavo we (Nintendo Life) find it of interest to our readers, therefore posted it. Not every article will be of interest to every single user, so if it’s not of significant interest to you, that’s fine, skip it and wait for another. Not all articles are created equally.
Cue the comments from people claiming they already knew this... well good for you but this is first I've heard of it, very cool little feature! Love to learn new things about classics like this.
@Knuckles-Fajita @GravyThief we’ve got a PAL GameCube knocking about somewhere, so can definitely test this and see what happens with some PAL 60hz games
@Balta666 I don't know to be honest... but I'm pretty sure those will be starting off with an analogue signal, which isn't great. The GCHD will process a digital signal to HDMI so should be much better.
@SpacedDuck the digital port on the GameCube is better than any of the options Wii offers as far as I'm concerned. So I would stick to GameCube hardware for GameCube games.
@echoplex yeah, it's funny... people used to complain that we didn't post any content on weekends, and now they complain when we post at the weekends, expecting big news stories.
@Julien yep, that'll happen for all products outside of the UK, not really Amazon's fault. It's a bit hit and miss to be honest, I order plenty of things that don't seem to get checked/charged, I think it just depends if they can be bothered that day.
@NerdyBoutKirby it's a remake of Super Mario Land using the "New Super Mario" style, so it completely random. It's using assets that fit/work on a 16-bit console.
@Heavyarms55 I would agree that it certainly seems to be more negative online in general at the moment, and perhaps that is related to the general state of things around the world at the moment - I couldn't be sure. However, NL has always been a place to 'get away from it' in my eyes and therefore I won't accept the cancer to run wild here whilst I'm still running things. I do think it doesn't help that other sites/platforms don't do more in that regard, if people behave badly on the majority of sites and get away with it, then it really sends the wrong message as far as I'm concerned.
I think the depth and level of negativity around Pokemon took us all by surprise, sure we had an idea going into it but at the same time the reaction is much, much worse than any of us expected. That said, it does seem to be a vocal minority, the game is clearly a decent (not great) game and sales have been impressive to begin with.
I respect your decision to back away from the comments on those subjects - I don't blame you at all - but I would say that we need voices of reason and positivity in the comments so we'll do whatever we can to help support those voices.
@Heavyarms55 sorry you feel that way. We're well aware that the comments sections aren't as "nice" as perhaps they were pre-Switch and that's largely down to the massive increase in audience. We're doing more moderation of comments than ever before, but that does rely on people reporting stuff as we don't want to have to check every comment before it goes live - that's just not practical for us or the community. We're committed to keeping our rules strict and banning people that are just here to make trouble, unlike other sites/platforms. If you have any ideas that might help us achieve that then we're all ears
@Kalmaro no problem at all, thanks. We never do intentional misleading clickbait (that's just not our style), but obviously we have to balance the fine line of making something look interesting, so appreciate the feedback anyway
@Kalmaro that still doesn't make it clickbait. It's an issue that is new to many since Pokemon was released, certainly new to me. Anyone affected would want to know what is going on.
I'm aware ads will slow down the pages a little, but to support what we do would be great if you would consider whitelisting us.
@Heavyarms55 @Kalmaro how is it clickbait? Roku have confirmed the issue? Clickbait means to post a headline that contains misleading information that then isn't the case in the article, which this isn't. If you don't want to read an article, you are welcome to not click on it.
As for using Adblock, that's disappointing for our team as all our income is from ads and affiliate links. We'd hope that any regular reader of the site would want to support our team. We try to balance the type/number of ads and believe we offer a better experience than most gaming sites on that front. We may in the future offer an ad-free subscription which maybe you would be interested in?
@Monkeido yeah, but I don’t mind responding, it’s always interesting to understand another point of view, especially when it’s different to my own. I know I’m never going to see eye to eye with everyone, that’s okay.
@Yorumi with all that logic the only solution would be to remove review scores. I’d also always recommend that people read multiple reviews for a product if their questions/concerns aren’t answered. No one review will answer every possible question about a game, everyone’s taste is different.
@Yorumi maybe those issues didn’t detract from the fun the reviewer had with that particular game? All the issues you mention vary in importantance depending on the game and who is playing it. This by definition causes inconsistency. I think everyone would agree that consistency is important, but context is also important as to why it’s not always achieved.
@Yorumi as we discussed yesterday, different people reviewing different games a decade apart is going to cause inconsistency, which is absolutely fine. If the review process was that precise and measurable you wouldn't see multiple reviews by different people and sites like Metacritic.
@Yorumi I don't think many are taking the article that way, given the replies, only a handful. I can't speak for IGN, but I would agree it seems a tad high considering the issues raised by others, however, I can say Alex's review is totally justified on our scale. He's a very knowledgable Pokemon player and therefore trust his judgement 100%.
As for the user scores on metacritic, I don't see how any "legitimate reviews" could justify the 0/10 score attached for a game that clearly isn't broken. It could be an amazingly detailed and critical review, but giving it a 0/10 still isn't justified is it?
@MrFlaminBig I think you're on to something with this, based on all the comments I've been reading over the past few days it seems like there are some very different expectations as to what people want... some want it to stay the same and some want it to change significantly, so I guess that was always going to end up dividing a fanbase.
@SquallLeonhart86 agreed, the sample size is important too. I think once metacritic gets say, 10,000 user scores then we'll see a different picture and maybe it'll end up settling more like 6/10? It's hard to know at this point. IMDb seems to have the same issue when a film is first released.
@SquallLeonhart86 the key difference here is the scale, games journos would never give this game a 0/10 or 3/10 would they? Because it's not a broken game that doesn't run, which is what would get such a score. So they wouldn't complain about users giving a game 5/10 etc as that is a more realistic opinion.

Re: These Super-Creepy Nintendo Switch "Play-Con" Are Available To Buy Right Now
@Moistnado it's been changed to make it clearer. They can be used as single Joy-Con but not as a Joy-Con pair.
Re: These Super-Creepy Nintendo Switch "Play-Con" Are Available To Buy Right Now
@Kalmaro sure, changed to "Play-Con" as that's what they are being called.
Re: These Super-Creepy Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Are Available To Buy Right Now
@Kalmaro yeah, I'm not even sure they would function as a full Pro Controller as they don't have both +/- buttons on each unit.
Re: These Super-Creepy Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Are Available To Buy Right Now
@RazumikhinPG @Kalmaro how about we call them Joy-Controller?
Re: These Super-Creepy Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Are Available To Buy Right Now
@Yas according to Nintendo, the plural of Joy-Con is "Joy-Con", just to keep things simple
Re: These Super-Creepy Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Are Available To Buy Right Now
@RazumikhinPG yeah, as I already said before, they're not being sold as a replacement. I don't like using the single Joy-Con when playing on the go, so would certainly consider these to throw in my go-bag.

Re: These Super-Creepy Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Are Available To Buy Right Now
@RazumikhinPG no need to be so pedantic, they are being sold as joy-con equivalents, not replacements.
Re: Feature: Game Of The Decade - The Best Games On Nintendo Systems 2010-2019
@james_squared yeah, not at the moment but it’s certainly a good suggestion. It gets difficult with re-releases etc though.
Re: Feature: Game Of The Decade - The Best Games On Nintendo Systems 2010-2019
@james_squared you're not wrong, that should be fixed now! Gremlins in the code...

Re: Hardware Review: How Does The Carby GameCube Component Cable Compare To The Real Deal?
@Knuckles-Fajita quite a lot of PAL games supported 60hz mode (and therefore 480p) but some of the early ones didn't.
Re: Hardware Review: How Does The Carby GameCube Component Cable Compare To The Real Deal?
@SpacedDuck the digital port on the GameCube is better than any of the options Wii offers as far as I'm concerned. So I would stick to GameCube hardware for GameCube games.

Re: Random: Super Mario Land Has Been Ported To The SNES, And It Looks Amazing
@Madder128 @duffmmann all I can say right now, is watch this space
Re: Random: Super Mario Land Has Been Ported To The SNES, And It Looks Amazing
@NerdyBoutKirby it's a remake of Super Mario Land using the "New Super Mario" style, so it completely random. It's using assets that fit/work on a 16-bit console.
Re: Random: Super Mario Land Has Been Ported To The SNES, And It Looks Amazing
@Madder128 @duffmmann give it a few days and let's see if you still think that

@tendonerd I think you're referring to this https://youtu.be/3WZZEYDGiws?t=55 which looks completely different.
Re: Nintendo Download: 21st November (Europe)
@OorWullie review is in progress, not sure when it will be live, not quite yet.
Re: Nintendo Download: 21st November (Europe)
@Rayquaza2510 @Murbs not to worry, I've posted it now!
Re: Random: Super Mario Land Has Been Ported To The SNES, And It Looks Amazing
@Madder128 the guy (sfc_moogle) is well known on Twitter for being an SFC enthusiast, therefore we have little reason to doubt that it's real.
Re: Random: Super Mario Land Has Been Ported To The SNES, And It Looks Amazing
@Madder128 it's not clickbait. It's reporting exactly what is being claimed by those posting the information.
