It's like I've typed many times before, the Internet isn't the world, thus the majority of the world doesn't think the way people on Twitter or Reddit do about this console.

On a side note, I like how the subtitle refers to that rather pathetic phenomenon of people licking the game cartridges created for the original Nintendo Switch. It is unfortunate such a thing was going on, despite the fact Nintendo advised against it. But there are a lot of stupid people out there with nothing better to do with their lives, so I am not surprised the phenomenon got as out of control as it did.

@Enigk You have seen the screenshots of the user interface, have you not? If so, you should already know that it possesses neither of those things. And I doubt the "Nintendo Switch 3" will have either of those things, either.

@StewdaMegaManNerd It's about growing skills, really. After all, how does a gamer expect to tackle the likes of Dark Souls or Touhou, if they can't get through Super Mario 64? There's no rewind feature in Black Myth: Wukong or Hollow Knight. There's no save state feature in Celeste or Super Meat Boy. A rewind feature will only coddle people into wanting an easy solution, where there's no skill or strategy involved.

@StewdaMegaManNerd It is probably because the original Switch will essentially be obsolete come the fifth of June.

@StewdaMegaManNerd A great deal of the people on this very website were four-years-old when they played Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time for the first time, though. They were able to get through them--not all of them, of course--and there was obviously no rewind feature on the SNES.

Adding a rewind feature will do nothing but make things even easier for gamers who're already as lazy and as haphazard as can be when playing their games. That kind of feature takes away the challenge these games had when we were young and playing them in the afternoon and on weekends. I'll never understand why this company wishes to coddle their fans like this.

@VoidofLight And the unfortunate thing about that, is a great deal of people on the Internet find it easier rage about that which they don't understand, than attempt to understand it. After all, once they get all that rage out, they can close the window and go on with their life, not caring about how much they embarrassed themselves online since it's technically not attached to them. People like that don't care how they look to other people, let alone to people on the Internet. And I feel like we've got to be better than those kinds of people. I don't want to become another person on the Internet who comments just to rage and insult people over something I couldn't be bothered to do research on.

@JJJAGUAR Indeed. I was one of the people who weren't surprised when it happened. When I played it, it was very reminiscent of the 3D platformer games I used to play when I was small. And I knew then and there it'd touch the people who grew up playing the same games. Black Myth: Wukong was good in its own right, but it was ultimately just another clone of Dark Souls. And something like that would've never won.

@JJJAGUAR To be fair, pretty much all the gaming community were taken aback when Astro Bot turned out to be last year's Game of the Year. What many people thought was just a "game for kids" ended up surpassing the likes of Balatro and even Black Myth: Wukong.

People who seriously believe this game has what it takes to be this year's Game of the Year are quite naive. Do you really think this niche game that nobody's playing or talking about has what it takes to win such a title? Especially when we've got a whole slew of amazing games coming up? Because it doesn't. It really doesn't. I haven't even heard of this game until now.

@StewdaMegaManNerd Wow. I didn't expect all that, but yes, you're right on the money with what you're saying. It's a horrible conundrum that just sucks all around.

@Flickumbicus Yes, I will admit I have a tendency to do that. I admittedly was not going to respond, but I know what it is like to be left hanging. Especially when the person in question insults you or puts words in your mouth. And the last thing I want, is to be just as rude and uncouth as the people who would do that to me. So, the least I can do is tell him I understand where I went wrong.

@sanderev I agree with that. Whatever console Nintendo come up with after the Switch 2, it won't have any physical games whatsoever.

The TikTok shorts of people rushing into the park with smiles on their faces gave me joy like you wouldn't believe. It was nice to see people that in touch with their inner child have no qualms being excited for something that's clearly amazing.

@Kienda Because it'll show which game is actually being noticed. Just look at how incredible Super Mario Bros. Wonder sold compared to Sonic Superstars. And that doesn't even get into the fact that people talk so much more about Mario Kart World than they do about Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. You'd be very surprised at how little Sonic the Hedgehog's got going for it nowadays. If it weren't for the movies--most of which are lackluster and are only noticed because Sonic characters are in them--the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise would be doing terribly right now.
