I've heard of the rumors but never really gave it much thought. Regardless if he has autism or not, he's one of the best contributor in the history of gaming. He doesn't have much public appearances yet his work is so well known which says a lot about the passion he gave for Pokémon
I'm just happy that 2022 is packed with great games, regardless of genre and platform. 2021, while there are some great games, it could have been better but with some delays due to the pandemic, it's understandable and thanks to that, we got plenty this year.
This acquisition makes more sense than M$' shopping spree. Considering that they have been working close with Nintendo, it's only about time that Nintendo acquire them. If there's any other company that needs to be acquired by Nintendo, I'd say it's Game Freak.
Tactical RPG may not be my forte (though I loved SD Gundam Generations and the Disgaea series) but I'm happy that this genre is getting more attention lately and I'm happy for the fans of the games. I might even pickup Triangle Strategy and Advance Wars 1 + 2.
JRPG fans, we're eating good tonight. So many great JRPG titles announced. Gotta admit, never played Chrono Cross during the PS1 era but it's now my chance to play this on the Switch.
Didn't realized this on my 1st early playthrough, I'd thought you'll need another Pokémon ride to break those boulders. Turns out, your Pokémon can just do it for you. Took me a while to figure it out, oof.
I really hope we get more of the LEGENDS series. I want a LEGENDS Zygarde and explore Kalos' history. With PLA doing so well, I'm really hoping Game Freak will continue visiting other regions' past
I don't want Nintendo to buy any major 3rd party devs from Japan and neither do I want Sony nor MS do so. I'd rather that they remain 3rd party and create games on whichever platform they feel like it.
Nintendo always have strong relationships with the Japan devs. They can work with them for exclusive games without being bought.
I just finished the main story of Legends Arceus and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. The game is great in terms of gameplay, exploration, music, characters and story, Gamefreak nailed it on this one. I wasn't planning on rushing through the story but I was so intrigued on what will happen next so I decided to push on till the end. Nothing groundbreaking with the story but I really love it just as much as I loved Sun and Moon's story. The characters are also very likeable much like with SM and SWSH. Overall, it was an amazing game. Mainline game or not, this is one of the best Pokémon game Gamefreak has ever made.
I thought I'd be playing this for a short while then go back to Legacy of the Duelist but boy was I wrong. The game was F2P but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I just recently unlocked some booster packs for Sky Strikers, Shaddoll and Samurai and now I'm farming for more gems just to get the cards I needed from those decks.
Well, PLA still has the traditional battles of the previous games so technically yes, it's a mainline game. Who knows, if this game becomes successful enough, Gamefreak may consider continuing the Legends and become its own series of games
@BloodNinja I mean at least this time, they made some changes so yeah, maybe give it some time then maybe we can see some more changes in future Pokémon games or would you rather that they go back to the old formula after doing something different with PLA?
@BloodNinja This game is already a breath of fresh air from the past games. Give it some time. Not everything needs to be changed immediately. I'd love to see a game with different parties, whether it's Pokémon or another trainer fighting by your side in future mainline Pokémon games but for now, enjoy the changes that the game can offer
Pokémon's weakest aspect is definitely the graphics and framerate but dammit, those didn't stop me from enjoying the previous titles and they're definitely not stopping me from enjoying this game either.
Just a few more days and I can finally play this game. The multiplayer aspect is not much of a con for me. As long as there is still trading, that's more than enough. Finally, a Pokémon game that is more focused on the single-player aspect.
Lots and lots of backlogs but I'm definitely enjoying the following games
PS4 - RE2 Remake (I already beat the games several times and I just enjoy replaying it like RE4). Replaying Spider-Man as well because I just can't get over NWH yet
Switch - SD Gundam Crossrays and Disgaea 5. Also, MH Stories 2 and Octopath Traveler, which I'm really trying to get back to and try to beat since it's been sitting far too long in my backlog. Also replaying Pokémon SWSH in preparation for Legends Arceus since I may not tackle the previous games for a while because of that.
Show this to the Nintendo execs and I bet they'll be laughing hard on this again...like how they laughed at the idea of Microsoft buying Nintendo all those years ago
@eaglebob345 I'd be up for Legends Zygarde. I'd love to explore ancient Kalos. With the 10th Anniversary of Pokémon XY coming next year, I'm hoping GF will consider this as their next Legends game.
On to the topic, I think this is good news for TPCi. While some of their recent decisions have been controversial, at the end of the day, people still enjoy the franchise and embrace them for what they are
Meh, the last thing I think about when it comes to Nintendo are anything Activision-Blizzard related games. Aside from Diablo and Overwatch, the Switch isn't really much of a market for them anyway and at the end of the day, people will buy Nintendo consoles for their exclusive libraries (and maybe indies that are worth playing on the go).
Yikes, that pricing. Meanwhile, I bought the entire collection of KH for the PS4 for less than $40 and I get to play them with or without internet connection.
I guess Phil's "re-evaluation" escalated to just buying the whole company. If you can't beat your competition, then just take away everything from them
@Zarudepie Doubt it, if they strike a deal with Nintendo (again), they'll just be laughed at (again)
Honestly, some of these screenshots show some improvements with its environment since the 1st trailer. I'm getting more excited the more I see this game.
Anyways, I'm not one to judge a game by its graphics alone. If a game is good, then it's good regardless of how it looks and so far, gameplay and lore wise, I'm already heavily invested. I've been hyped for this since its announcement.
My only concern at this point is what other regional variants are we getting. The final evolution of the starters were not yet revealed at this point (I mean, I know what they exactly look like but you know what I mean). I'm under the impression that we are getting a Hisuian form of Decidueye, Typhlosion and Samurott
Nintendo has really proven themselves over the years with the Switch with their strategy of not getting into the competition and just do their own thing. I just wonder what they will do next with their next-gen console to keep the ball rolling aside from the obvious releasing of 1st-party games.
Haven't heard of Blackwind until now but after seeing the gameplay, holy Arceus, it looks like something I'll be investing more time with. I might get this along with Pokémon Legends
I'd say Ender Lillies was my personal Switch GoTY this year. Best Metroidvania game I've played on the Switch so far (Yeah, Metroid Dread is also great but Ender Lillies was more aesthetically pleasing to me). I've enjoyed Pokémon BDSP as well and I dig the chibi style they went with. I know it could have been better but still, doesn't mean I didn't like what they did. Bravely Default and MH Stories 2 were also great but I haven't finished yet but maybe one day. Lastly, I do find me playing MH Rise occasionally. I'm still at rank 3 but I do love playing in multiplayer mode which is where I spend my time in the game mostly.
I can see this happening and honestly, I'm fine with them scaling the roster down, maybe just make a Smash game with 1st party characters and I'd still be fine with it. If people wanted the same large roster for any future Nintendo console, I can see SSBU being ported with some few tweaks and it will sell well like Mario Kart 8
Definitely better hardware and library of exclusive games then continue the 3rd party support and of course, indie support. Continue the hybrid console gimmick (and give us better interface and themes while they're at it)
Shiny hunting was never my thing but the feeling of encountering one is really something. Throughout my Pokémon gaming, I've only encountered 3 shinies (1 per XY, SM & SWSH) out of sheer luck. I might get into it, maybe one day but I don't think I'll have that much time like these guys.
Finally, 13 Sentinels on the go! After the cancellation of the Vita port, I'd hope for this to be on the Switch and it's finally here! I have it on the PS4 but I'm definitely double dipping. Here's hoping for more Vanillaware games ported on Switch.
I've been enjoying this remake so far. I do find some of the battles too easy because of the exp. share but it's not much of a deal breaker for me. There are some few changes from the DS games but for the most part, it is as faithful as intended and I find the chibi style to be cute and the overworld just looks gorgeous to me. The rearranged music is just as good as the original but I expected no less since Gen 4 for me has the best soundtracks.
I got to say, after playing SWSH for a long time, I find it nice to go back to the more traditional top-down gameplay for once and I actually wouldn't mind having another Pokémon game like this for the Switch. Heck, I'd be satisfied if they port ORAS and XY to Switch with HD textures
Can I just say that I love pretty much every generation released ever?
But I will give a shoutout to some games that I love the most. So far my personal favorite is X&Y, the games (and anime) that got me back into the franchise again. Pokémon Crystal holds special to me since that was the first Pokémon game I've ever played and then RSE/ORAS, which are also my personal favorite though I liked them because of the AG anime. Then you have BW which to me, still has the best story. SM has some of my favorite characters and DPP have the best soundtrack (though I still love the trainer battle theme of XY)

No overworld spawn, eh, again subjective. Some Pokémon players actually prefer the surprise elements. I mean, it's a great feature yeah and I feel a lot of modern JRPG adapts to this system but yeah, some purists would prefer the random encounters.
Lacking Platinum features - if I'm not mistaken, someone already pointed out that there are some features from the Platinum version available in the game.
Also, why is no option to turn off EXP. share is not a con when it's something that was pointed out on your review?
I do appreciate the review, it does set some expectation but I feel that a lot of the points here are subjective
@smithpa01 I personally like both and I feel that's one of the few things that SWSH did right. I love the Pokémon roaming around to make the overworld look more alive and at the same time, I still love the random encounters for the surprises

It's really going to be hard to rate Pokémon remakes moving forward. They'll either be a hit or miss depending on the reviewer's POV. Some purists love the faithful remake adaptation while there are those who would want to see the game being remade from the groundup.
Re: Review: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl - A Middling Pair Of Remakes
I feel like some of the listed cons are quite subjective rather than them being actual flaws of the game. Re: Review: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl - A Middling Pair Of Remakes
@Dizzard ORAS wasn't generally hated but I still saw some few complaints about it, namely the removal of the battle frontier in favor of the Delta episode. Personally, I loved the Delta episode as it felt like an after-story for the game.
Going back to the topic, I expect that the game will get lower scores. I'm still going to play the remakes nonetheless. I don't have any nostalgia for Pokémon DPP as that was the time that I lost interest to the franchise until XY. I've just played the games some few years ago so my memories of the OG games are fresh. It's going to be interesting for me to replay the games in 3D since I can understand as to why a lot of people were complaining that the OG games were too slow.
I also wish that EXP. share can be turned off but I've already came in terms with that since SWSH and I feel like I don't want to experience the slow grinding from the OG games anyway plus I can just do a nuzlocke if I want to challenge myself
