Re: Capcom's Former GameCube Exclusive Resident Evil 4 Is Reportedly Getting A Remake

Yogsoggoth

@JaxonH No, what's childish is having to include that Resident Evil 4 was a Gamecube exclusive in the title of the article. What's also childish is insisting that every game can run on the Switch, but the lazy developers won't put in the hard work for... reasons.

Claiming that everyone knows what is on every system and they buy that system and are fine with what they miss is flat out delusional. Nintendo fans are always crying about this or that game not coming to the Switch. Even in this thread they're crying about it. I guess you must have missed all that when you scanned through the comments to seek out people that are critical of Nintendo.

Remember the meltdown about Persona 5?

Re: Capcom's Former GameCube Exclusive Resident Evil 4 Is Reportedly Getting A Remake

Yogsoggoth

@Razer Capcom hasn't been shafting Nintendo fans, Nintendo has been shafting Nintendo fans. The Switch just isn't powerful enough to run new games. Capcom doesn't bother with the Switch because they make plenty of money making games for Xbox and PS4 and don't want to be bothered creating entirely new development teams to make something that will (unless they put Mario or Link in it) sell poorly.

If you want to play the big boy games, you'll need a big boy console. Gaming exclusively with Nintendo is a road to gaming unhappiness.

Re: Switch Stock Shortage Is Pushing Buyers Towards PS4 and Xbox One, Claims Retailer

Yogsoggoth

@Moroboshi876 Apologies for the tone. I've just had a bellyfull of being at home and haven't even had morning coffee yet, so I'm feeling a bit combative. That said, the rational for people picking up a PS4 over a Switch seems pretty obvious and I don't think there is any conspiracy or dishonesty of reporting.

Next time I'll wake up before I comment. Again, I apologize and I hope you are keeping safe and healthy.

Re: Switch Stock Shortage Is Pushing Buyers Towards PS4 and Xbox One, Claims Retailer

Yogsoggoth

@Moroboshi876 You see, you might not have heard this, but there is a virus going around that is killing people so many people are stuck at home without the ability to go out. These people decide they want to keep the kids or themselves entertained, so they look into buying a gaming console. They'e heard good things about this Switch thing, so they look for one online and find that it is sold out or marked up 1000% by capitalist parasites. They might do a little bit of online searching about Nintendo and discover that stock shortages are a persistent issue with Nintendo or read the press release from Nintendo stating that the stock issue isn't going away soon.

They spend a few hours listening to the kids complain about being bored and can't take another round of the "stop touching me game" and decide, "I can't take it anymore, I'm buying a PS4."

This isn't rocket science, but good on you that you live in a place where all the parks haven't been closed and there is absolutely nowhere to go without getting a ticket.

Re: Atlus Says Its Survey Asking About Switch Ports Exceeded Expectations

Yogsoggoth

@QueenKittenWrite Yep, Nintendo fans are the biggest bunch of entitled whiners on the Internet. People asked for Bayonetta 2 on other systems and they got indignant and righteous, but they have no shame about begging for Persona 5 even though there has never been a Persona game on a Nintendo system. They could just buy a real console and play the game, but nope, everything is better on Switch. Even when it is plagued with slowdown and downgraded textures.

Re: You Don't Need To Play Persona 5 To Enjoy The Story In Persona 5 Scramble

Yogsoggoth

@clvr I'm just following the example of entitled port beggar. Imagine Breath of the Wild on PS4. 60 fps and true hd graphics. Imagine Link's Awakening without slow down and that silly blur effect. Imagine Mario Maker with a real online service. Or Splatoon with actual voice chat. Nintendo really should consider porting their games to PS4. They would reach a larger audience and wouldn't suffer from lower textures and lag.

Re: You Don't Need To Play Persona 5 To Enjoy The Story In Persona 5 Scramble

Yogsoggoth

@clvr Apparently it is an exclusive for Playstation regardless of the fact that Atlus is owned by Sega. The franchise has been exclusive since the mid 90s. So, if you all really want it, Nintendo should offer to port over an exclusive to Playstation in exchange. If you don't want to send Mario which would be a perfect fit for the PS4, then maybe Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. Or Octopath Traveller. Imagine that at 60 fps and displayed at 1080 or 4K.

I would suggest Breath of the Wild, but we have enough open world games already.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Outsell Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee In Just 10 Days (Japan)

Yogsoggoth

@NEStalgia I was suggesting the argument that something is for kids is often used to justify a poorly made product. I think children are much more intelligent than they are given credit for being. Look at Finding Nemo. It's an absolutely brilliant film that is great for kids and adults. It is intelligently made and doesn't insult the viewer.

The "for kids" argument is made in defense of Pokemon to excuse the lack of features and difficulty. It's complete nonsense. Nothing prevents Game Freak from adding a difficulty option into their game other than laziness.

Pokemon has a very addictive formula, but let's not pretend that Gamefreak spends all their time trying to deliver the best game possible. They spend all their time trying to figure the least amount of work they can put in and still make money.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Outsell Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee In Just 10 Days (Japan)

Yogsoggoth

@yes

Game design evolves. If it didn't the industry would have died thirty years ago. No one is asking for a Dark Souls Pokemon, but Pokemon has become press start to win with its brain dead difficulty. People excuse Gamefreak by saying Pokemon is for kids, but that is an insult to children. Kids can play hard games, I grew up with Mega Man and Castlevania, and it's insulting to suggest kids need games to be dumbed down to the point where it is impossible to lose. Of course, there is this new thing called difficulty selection, but that would require Game Freak to actually work.

Re: Ultra Rare Pokémon Card Sells For $60,000, Gets Lost In The Mail

Yogsoggoth

@WomboCombo
Try reading the article before commenting. The card was sent in a bulk shipment by registered mail and insured for $50,000. The package was signed for by the receiving company, but the receiving company claims that the card was not in the package. Since the post office can show the package was delivered Nd signed for, they don't have to pay the insurance for the card.

Re: Media Create Boss Says Switch Will Have A Seven Year Life Cycle, Sales To Grow In Third Year

Yogsoggoth

@Dilated

But downgraded titles is the reality of the Switch. Why would anyone want to play Fortnite at 30 fps when everyone else is playing it at 60 fps. I really don't understand why Switch owners would want cross play since the difference in fps puts Switch owners at a serious disadvantage. Also, PS4 for a remastered version of Dark Souls that runs at 60 fps while Switch got a remastered of the Xbox 260 Dark Souls at 30 fps (with drops into the 20s), overly compressed sound, and some graphical issues that look even worse than last gen games.

Sure people buy Nintendo products to play Nintendo games, but Nintendo just isn't the company they used to be (at least for me). I've watched the trend with Nintendo series is to become easier with fewer features since the N64 (Compare Mario Tennis 64 to Mario Tennis WiiU or Mario Tennis Switch)

Re: Media Create Boss Says Switch Will Have A Seven Year Life Cycle, Sales To Grow In Third Year

Yogsoggoth

@Retsam

Ugh, the Gamecube didn't sell and it was the most powerful consoles, so Nintendo should always make underpowered consoles argument.

The gamecube didn't sell because 1) it looked like a child's lunch box

and 2) everyone wanted a PS2. The PS1 had curb stomped the N64 and introduced so many new game series (Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, etc...) that no one cared what Nintendo was doing.

The Wii was successful because of the low price (half the price of a PS3) and the motion control gimmick which inspired retirement homes across America to purchase a console.

I really think you are way too bullish on the Switch. I doubt it will get anywhere near 120 million because people really do care about things like raw power. As the PS5 and Xbox Next roll out, the graphical differences and frame rate differences will become even more stark than they are now. Switch owners will see even fewer games than they already do being announced for the system. Will yet another Kirby that looks and plays just like the last be enough to keep people happy? I don't know, but I really doubt it.

Re: Media Create Boss Says Switch Will Have A Seven Year Life Cycle, Sales To Grow In Third Year

Yogsoggoth

@Manzoli

I'm not sure I agree. I don't really see too many PS4 or Xbox One owners wanting to buy a switch. Even if Nintendo can get 3rd parties to offer the same game on Switch (a big if since the Switch is significantly less powerful than the other consoles), the Switch version will always be gimped in some way or another.

I really can't see a 7 year life span for the Switch. It's just not strong enough.

Re: Activision Admits Recent Layoffs "Could Negatively Impact Business"

Yogsoggoth

The worst people on the planet are the corporate apologists that feel the need to defend corporate greed because they buy into the capitalist nonsense that the needs of the shareholders are sacrosanct.

Also these same people try to talk as if they KNOW about business, but they don't. I'm not going to call anyone out anyone by name, but there is a certain someone on this board who can't puzzle out why Activision would toss 8% of their workforce if it might effect their long term outlook. Further, this person lives in complete ignorance of the fact that modern day capitalism is all about short term profits and that (not long term growth) is what leads to larger bonuses for people like Bobby Kotick. If this person had been watching the stock market, he would have seen that Activision stock went up on the day they announced the firings because the greed heads enjoy putting people out in the cold and fewer mouths to feed mean more "short term" money in their pocket. The fact that he doesn't get this shows he is completely ignorant how business works in the later days of vulture capitalism.

Look at Toys R Us for example. Every decision made from the moment that Mitt Romney and Bain capital stepped in was to extract as much money from the company in the short term and, when they stole all they could, they left the desiccated husk to rot in the sun until the company finally went bankrupt. It's just another example of how the greed heads are only concerned with the money in their pockets and sometimes the money in the pockets of the "investors."

Re: Review: LEGO Jurassic World (Wii U)

Yogsoggoth

Co-op is exactly the same as Marvel Superheroes and Batman 3 - same bad frame rate, glitches, and bad design. Sometimes the second player can get stuck doing nothing for five or ten minutes while the other player solves puzzles.

Re: Editorial: The eShop's Pricing Dilemma is the Fault of Many, But Damages Creativity and Risk Taking

Yogsoggoth

@ThomasBW84

We never live in the times we want, so we have to accept the times we are in. The solution is very simple, developers can charge a reasonable price and make up the difference in volume of sale. Affordable Space Adventure is digital only so it isn't like they are losing money on producing extra copies. It is a 6 hour game and has absolutely no business being more than $10. You can make all the arguments about creativity you want, but it isn't going to change the world we live in.

I followed the game through production and was really interested in picking it up, but the short length and high cost made it a real easy pass. I'm not buying cheap games because they are cheap. I am buying high quality games whose prices have dropped so low that it would be foolish not to buy them.

We are adrift on a sea of high quality games at rock bottom prices. I don't envy any developer trying to make ends meet.

Re: Editorial: The eShop's Pricing Dilemma is the Fault of Many, But Damages Creativity and Risk Taking

Yogsoggoth

@Windy

Gets it. This editorial is as wrong as it gets when it comes to placing blame. I haven't devalued fun (as I am sure, most gamers haven't), I am just a savvy customer. Let's talk Affordable Space Adventure for a minute. Great little game (6 hours) with a great big price tag ($20). Now you can rationalize all you want about how it is a great game and it deserves to be $20, but I disagree. The price is terrible for the reality we all live in. For example, just a few days ago the PSN offered the Mass Effect Trilogy for $4.80. That's around 100 - 150 hours of gaming for pennies on the hour. It isn't like this is a unique occurrence either. A few weeks ago, I picked up GTA4 on the PSN for around $5.

In a world where hours of high quality entertainment can be had for pennies, a 6 hour game (regardless of quality) for $20 is going to fail. That is the hard reality of the gaming industry in 2015 and developers can cry about it all they want, but unless they adjust their expectations, they are going to fail.
