Re: Nintendo America Creates New DSi XL Bundles For You

Yogsoggoth

This is right up there with the stupid commercials Nintendo was running last spring where they were advertising the price drop on DSI and the new red case for Mario titles (no price drop on Mario DS titles, just a red case). Seriously, how stupid is Nintendo. They release a new system and continue to aggressively advertise for the old system. If I bought the DSi XL bundle and then discovered that no new titles were being released, I would probably never buy another Nintendo product. I know that Nintendo is a bit backwards in the business sense, but this is just stupid.

Re: Uh Oh, Now Namco Goes for Single 3DS Save File

Yogsoggoth

It's sad to see so many people go to such great lengths to defend Namco's nonsensical decision and to also deride people that think it is a "big deal". The fact of the matter is that Namco did this to prevent reselling the game. There is no other explanation. If you choose to give Namaco your money even though they are engaging in this type of behvaior, that is your business, but please don't act as if this isn't a big deal. What's next, games that can only be played once?

Re: Reggie Discusses Wii U Branding, "Not a Difficult Sell"

Yogsoggoth

I have bought fewer games for the Wii than for any other system I have ever owned. That was an amazing accomplishment for the Wii, just not a good one.

I think of a hardcore gamer as just that a "hardcore gamer". Theses are the folks that love games and gaming. They love all types of games and will play what feels good and is fun. FPS fans aren't hardcore because that is all they play.

The problem with the Wii isn't the shovelware, Izbirdboy correctly pointed out that all systems have shovelware. The problem is that the ration to shovelware on the Wii is very, very off. I went to the Target over the weekend and I looked through the Wii section and it was just bad. Everything is some sort of mini game collection or hunting simulator.

Let's be honest, the Wii did give us the greatest game of this generation (Super Mario Galaxy 2) and a bunch of other good things, but it just wasn't enough. Not even close.

Re: Reggie Discusses Wii U Branding, "Not a Difficult Sell"

Wii lost hardcore players the minute the system specs were announced and that is why hardcore games do not sell well on the Wii. The Wii U lost the hadrcore gamer the minute the specs were announced and the fact that the Wii has successfully branded themselves as the shovelware console.

Re: Review: Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident (Wii)

Yogsoggoth

Wow, Nintendo still doesn't get it. They are releasing a style of game that has been done to death and can be had for $.99 on the app store. This was obviously a much better choice than any of the Japanese three that we can't have here in America. It looks like the 3DS will be my last Nintendo system; the company is just a shadow of itself.

Re: Iwata Tells Shareholders "Core Gamers Will Accept Wii U"

Yogsoggoth

Nintendo wants to attract core gamers? Core gamers love games and Nintendo doesn't seem to be very interested in releasing very many for the foreseeable future. And what message did Nintendo send core gamres this week when they refused to release the Japanese three in the U.S.?

Re: Operation Rainfall Responds to Nintendo's "Never Say Never"

Yogsoggoth

Nintendo has just lost a sale for a WiiU. I am sick and tired of Nintendo. I heard it with the N64. Then I heard it with the Gamecube. Finally we heard it with the Wii. Nintendo keeps promising that they will change, but it never happens. They want core gamers, but they never try to get them. They say that they "get" online, but they continue the friend codes, local wireless nonsense vs true online, and the pitiful attempts at the estore.
These three games truly are the last straw.

Re: Review: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (3DS)

Yogsoggoth

I was a bit disappointed with Lego Pirates. The game starts interestingly enough but quickly descends into a rather monotonous mish mash of blah dueling and obvious lever puzzles. What really steams my broccoli though is the inexplicable slowdown in some levels (Singapore is a good example) where the frame rate stutters and lurches like the Frankenstein Monster. I certainly hope this is not an indication of how future 3D games will be.

Re: myNotebook Tan Release Dates Announced

Yogsoggoth

I really don't understand DSIware. It is outrageously over priced. $5 for a notebook? $8 for Dodogo? Sony has a much better download program. $5 will get you any number of Playstation 1 classics or minis. Not to slam the DS because I do enjoy some of their downloads, but the pricing structure leaves much to be desired.
