@nintendo24 If you want to. I've watched the last few Directs on my Wii U.
@SockoMario If they don't get exactly what they want, their grump-vein will explode. Be very careful...
I don't think hoping for a name is too farfetched. An approximate date? Unless it was coming out this summer, I'd guess the most they'd include would be a general estimate. @Andyliini if you took out all the stupid console arguments, the internet would be a very empty thing. I don't think any less of Mr. Sakurai. I'd probably play a PS4, if I had one, or even had money for it...
I love this 'art-style' for Mario. It's so reminiscent of Super Mario World, and the matte-characters are very appealing.
Is Princess Toadstool/Peach baking another cake?
@Frapp Well, it could be worse — it could be 'Ol' Yoshi's island: An 8 bit remake'. They could make newer subtitles or something, even something as simple as "Super Mario World (errr....4?):Yoshi's Island 3: The Further Adventures of Yoshi's Island ".
@ThreadShadow I agree it does, and I would have preferred the vectorized sprites from the original game. I hope they put the original on the VC, before — or at — the launch. I've such fond memories of the SNES game...
@B-Squared I always envisioned Wario and Waluigi as weight-lifters. I mean, everyone already knows Wario is Some Kinda strong-man. I'd like to see a Wario Land game where Waluigi can be tossed around and where Waluigi can toss Wario Around... I mean, the co-op could be really fun; adversely, the competition could be fun as well...
@WaveBoy Since 'Galaxy' is still just a last gen game (Though the idea of Mario 128 has been around for longer), it doesn't need to be remade. I don't want it to happen, but I'd rather see Majora's Mask be redone before the 'Galaxy' games do... Anyway, WaveBoy, I support your stance against the tediously pointless updated graphics. There isn't much more you could do to make the controls better. You could probably find Galaxy one and two in a package for $20 or less.
Going through the list, again, there aren't any that really need an HD update or remake. I'm not going to criticize NL's choice of articles, but this idea just doesn't have enough merit as a stand-outty article.
@Pj1 Actually, Mojang has not said that Minecraft is NOT coming to Wii U, or rather, they have NO plans to at this time. That was a While ago... @CliveWinston You could also relate them to Pokemon cards, if that's more your thing, if the cards were packaged like that.... in a 6 pack, for instance, 4 are regular, 1 is rare to very rare, and 1 is a random regular-very rare. One problem I foresee is that Skylanders and Disney infinite's audience — the audience that Nintendo would be seeking for this — look like "some cheap" gimmick, or a even ripoff. Pokemon cards were popular for a while (for all I know, they still are), and Nintendo may try to make lightning strike in the same place again using cards....
@Yorumi Cards could be stored in a folder. Like sports cards, in a plastic case. I can see how some people might like to have the figures as a kind of trophies (And having a double use, as an NFC thing, makes them better), but it's just not for me. I'd probably end up storing them in an old box, full of abandoned cords.
I'm all for customization (Of levels, weapons, vehicles... anything), and completely agree the G-Pad is perfect for this. Using the control sticks to move around the arena, and if it's a 3D plane, along the Z axis. The D-pad to scroll through items, or even full control on the touch screen. I don't like the idea of NFC figurines, since you could get the same effect — at a much cheaper cost — from cards. The AR Cards for the 3DS work well, and something similar could be done with the Wii U. Compared to the figurines, you could call it cheap, I'd say it's way more efficient.
I've never played the Genesis version, so I can't compare, but I did borrow the SNES one from a friend for a while. It's a fun game to just sit down and play through.
I haven't liked LEGO as much, since they started doing all these licensed products. Blacktron, Space Police... Original stuff like that. Now the only original sets they have are, like, city... and creator, Castle... and a few others. I'm not for having Nintendo Based LEGO sets, though it would increase popularity with the younger crowd.
@AutumnShantel That's because it's hard to explain... Nintendo wants to bring games that aren't just fun, but educational, healthy, as well. Sort of like Wii Fit, sort of like Brain training. In a way, they are trying to attract an audience — the "fit" audience — to gaming, while keeping the other audience around as well.
@MAB A lot of professional Analysts are about as informative as professional trolls.
@Superryanworld
I agree with you. Nintendo is still stuck in "Yaumauchi Economics".
The cookie-cutter sequels, like CoD or Madden, are how this "General [uninformed] Audience" (the casual gamer audience) views Super Mario Games, and — inevitably — will view DKC:TF... This "General Audience" contains a casual audience, and even more casual audience.
In the end, it's a popularity contest, and PS4 VS Xbone have piqued the General Audiences attention.
Is it funny how Xbone and PS4 are aiming at the Mature audience, and are popular with the kids? Is it funny how Nintendo is aiming at the Everyone audience, and aren't popular with anyone?
I think one of the worst things is that emulators and roms are so easy to find, and use, it makes buying products pointless, and negates any reason to even LOOK at the VC. Only on a Nintendo [console]? Nope, it's even possible to run emulators on your phone, 360, or Wii...!
@Legromancer Think about it: DKCTF, no matter how good the game is, won't generate as much hype as Mario Kart 8. It's the same effect SM3DW suffered. I think April would have been a better time to release MK8, but earlier would just hurt DKCTF sales more. @Superryanworld But CoD and Battlefield are the Kings of the hardcore-casual... If you really want to play wii sports, not online, pop in the disk and play in Wii mode. @OliverAdam They haven't "totally" ignored these "standard" trends. Collecting Stamps (SM3DW) may not be as exciting as "kill your team mate 20 times", but it's an achievement. I'm not sure what you mean by Online Functionality. As far as I'm concerned, it functions pretty well online. Although it hasn't been applied yet, they ARE working on the Unified NNID. Just because it's in the Kids corner doesn't mean it's not fun for adults. As for the future, I can't say, so you may be correct about having X the only exclusive JRPG type console game.
They need a new Super Mario Super Show, with Charles Martinet doing all the voices (even if there are live actors)!
Releasing MK8 too soon after DKCTF would put out what little flame it already has. Like, if it was released in March, "Oh, well DKC is so close to March, it's just going to be pointless to buy it since I'm more excited about MK8."
@rjejr
Well, for DKCTF: a friday is better than, say, a middle of the week, where they'd have less time to play consecutively. I actually thought, for a while, that TF was being released on the 12th, but it was the 21st. An earlier release would have been better... Even if Tropical Freeze is a phenomenal game, it will most likely suffer from "cookie-cutter-itis" — the same general overlook SM3DW got. This is something that, no matter how bad Mario Kart 8 is, it's going to sell (I'm not expecting it to be a bad game, there is just a lot of ignorance towards the title). April would have been a better time to release it, in my opinion. May isn't too far away, and I'd just like to say I totally agree a Wii U MK 8 bundle would be a BAD IDEA TO NOT HAVE.
@Darthziggy It wouldn't make sense at all, having it all on the G-Pad; the control and view would be wrong and smaller than an original one. It would be nice to stream 3DS through the Wii U. I'd even pay a nominal fee, if a small device were needed to "boost the connection" between them, though I don't believe that's needed...
@Doma Complaining about the internal memory is about as laughable as your claim... 2 TB External HDs aren't that expensive.
Why they don't put the better batteries in the G-pad, is the same reason Kinect didn't come with the 360, or Rumble Paks didn't come with every N64 controller.
Attracting Indie devs is a good plan, and being an attractive to them will be very positive.
Last I heard, Mojang was NOT planning on Bringing Minecraft to Nintendo.
However, it isn't just Minecraft that will appeal to the 'general' crowd, it's games that are popular. FIFA '14 and CoD on Xbox are the only games celebrities play (Not actually proven fact). For all those "hardcore" gamers out there, there are millions more who are "casual", sold simply on being "part of the crowd". That's how the Wii sold, that's how the Wii U didn't sell.
When I think of this current generation, I think of The PS4 and Xbone as huge giants with guns pointed at each other, trying to get everyone's attention, and the Wii U as dwarf, yelling "Hey! Hey! Look at me! I'm here, too!" While everyone is paying attention to PS4 and Xbone, who are firing and making a huge amount of noise, a few notice the Wii U and begin following it completely ignored by everyone else.
If they were going to rebrand it, they should have done that before the launch. If they rebranded it now, it would cause even more confusion among the general public Even with my TV on, I was still playing SM3DW looking at the G-Pad. DKC:TF may actually get some 3rd party developers to realize that "Hey gang, you don't need to use the G-Pad, See?". When Nintendo Said that it was possible to use multiple gamepads, they also said that the idea wasn't plausible, as there wouldn't be a point. I agree that it's nice to have multiple control options, but getting rid of it will cause more problems than solving them.
I'm pretty interested in these games... Now, to join in another controller argument: While the G-Pad may look clunky, it's very comfortable. The N64 controller also looked clunky, but it's many people's favourite.
What I don't like about Yoshi: After "Yoshi's Story", all Yoshi's started to sound like baby Yoshis. They even changed it in the GBA version, of Yoshi's Island, which makes me mad. If you want the only Decent version of "Yoshi's island", it's gotta be the SNES one.
I'm looking forward to this game, and hopefully it won't disappoint. There's a good chance I'll get it day one, unless it has terrible reviews (averaging 5 or under).
Yes, we ("Any Fans of Nintendo") all want F-Zero, Star Fox 64 3, Mario Galaxy, and 2 new Legend of Zelda's which are also ON 3DS and Metroid Prime 4.
When and if the next "fully 3D" Mario game comes out, It's name better be : "SUPER MARIO UNIVERSE"
@ TheRealThanos
My favourite feature in ExciteBike 64 was creating my own tracks. Despite Wii U's "lack of power", some awesome tracks and custom bikes could be created, and quite easily with the G-Pad. Even better, would be the ability to cloud the bikes/tracks online.
Alternatively, F-Zero: "Tentative Existence" could also use those same features, primarily the custom vehicle mode.
I'm totally with the Advance Wars crowd. I think they have started focussing too much on expanding the powers, making it less strategy. I don't want to see every character have three sets of special attacks.
I'd like to see a new 'Earthbound/Mother' on Wii U, but, I agree with Peach64: If they put Earthbound out to one of their smaller studios, it's probably going to end up pretty crummy...
I'd rather see a new Excitebike 64. Not truck, not bot, not a remake either ( no more HD or 3D, or HD3D remakes ) A brand new — possibly online, as that IS the fad these days-- game.
I'd like to see more virtual console titles, from any of the listed consoles. There are a lot of people fond of the N64 generation, Personally there are a lot of SNES games I'd love to see on there. it does seem redundant having to pay for the same game twice; especially if it's one you have on your Wii.
@Doma Although you are a bit negative, I'm surprised how Many chose VC...
@TheTreePerson Even better than a GC is a Wii. You could probably get one for cheaper, too (As long as you don't get the Mini, which doesn't have GC powers).
@Trickbaby14 I know the feeling... Everytime I read another doom and gloom article I respond. I'm not sure why. I spend too long reading, re-reading and rereading posts that I don't agree with, then get distracted and do it again.
@ferthepoet I thought you were comparing PS3 said Wii Exclusives.
Comparing it with an already established console isn't the same thing.
And you are absolutely correct: "Better is subjective".
Looking Back:
@ferthepoet Nintendo believed they would have more Launch Games, until too close to Launch to do anything... Your shallow view is either sarcastic, or maybe you need to do a little research, because your "facts" seem like they came from a 2012 PSP forum...
The G-Pad may be a gimmick, but so are the "perfect " 'DualShock 4s', or the 'perfect' Xboone controllers (not to mention the all-knowing Kinect). A controller that doesn't require another $399 for a minitablet, or $300 for a windows glass is looking forward...
I only had a Wii, and I had a lot of fun, I thought RD:R was pretty ok, for a while. It was just too GTA, which I'd grown tired of. I played a few other 360 games, but consistently still... had more fun on my Wii. Compare these "better" PS3 exclusives vs Wii exclusives, and I'll give you some credit
Sorry about calling out some of your follies.
My perspective on PS4 and Xbox one is that there is no point in having both, their lineups are way too similar. I can't see any exclusives on either, in the next year.
@WaveBoy (post 27) Since you summarized it, I don't need to say much more. Is mature gaming really for the "Mature"?
@Will-75 Although I'm hoping for a new Metroid (Not prime) title, and a Wario (not 'ware' title — we've already got the Remix) title (Which I hope includes Waluigi),too, a bunch of these don't appeal (or a peel, if you are talking about DK) to a broad audience... which isn't that broad to start. However, there are a lot of fans waiting for their favourite games, and the possibility of another price cut, to purchase their Wii U.
@Bizzyb The Xbox one is cheaper "because".
The word "Bias" is thrown around all to often, these days...
To get a little more on topic: The G-Pad is a bit of an evolution, with all the tablets appearing. It's a great idea. The worst part was the confusion/ignorance; releasing the Wii Mini around the same time, and again not being in peoples faces. The worst parts.
Relevant satirical quote I made from The Walrus and the Carpenter.
(With Apologies to Lewis Carrol)
Relevant satirical quote I made from The Walrus and the Carpenter.

The time has come," the Reggie said, "To speak of all our probs, And find a better president-- And clear up all these sobs. To catch a fairy — with a net, Then resurrect Steve Jobs."
I don't believe that kicking out Iwata, or Reggie will make a the huge difference everyone is wishing for.
Yaumachi would probably have kept Nintendo Further out of this Online "race".
As far as purchasing more third Parties, I think Sega would be the best choice for Nintendo to go with. They're pretty close, already.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Games Our Readers Would Love to See in 2014
Yes, we ("Any Fans of Nintendo") all want F-Zero, Star Fox 64 3, Mario Galaxy, and 2 new Legend of Zelda's which are also ON 3DS and Metroid Prime 4.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Games Our Readers Would Love to See in 2014
I'm totally with the Advance Wars crowd.
Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's 'Relevance' Is About Sales, Nintendo's Strategy Has Remained Consistent
@Ren You'd make a good satirist.
Re: Nintendo of America Offers Stock of Refurbished Wii U Deluxe Sets for $250
Didn't they already drop the Bundles to $250?
Unless these were "Refurbished w/ pro controller", or "500GB of memory", that seems like a bad deal!
Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's 'Relevance' Is About Sales, Nintendo's Strategy Has Remained Consistent
Re: Sakurai Reiterates That There'll Be No Subspace Emissary-Style Story in Super Smash Bros.
I actually enjoyed the Subspace Emissary.
Most likely, the single player campaign will be arcadey-fighting different fighters.

Relevant satirical quote I made from The Walrus and the Carpenter.

The time has come," the Reggie said,
"To speak of all our probs,
And find a better president--
And clear up all these sobs.
To catch a fairy — with a net,
Then resurrect Steve Jobs."
Re: Nintendo Has "Great Games" But Is Facing A "Structural Problem", According To Industry Analysts
Nintendo's Hardware — the G-Pad-- easily caters to (almost) any smart phone/Tablet/ iOS Stuff. How was that not forward thinking?
