When I first heard this, I thought it was a good Idea; My brother doesn't care for the 3D, and so it would probably be a better deal. Then I saw the picture.... I'm not interested in getting another one, at all. But I can see why it can be a nice option. It's a good deal for those who can't see 3D, the younger audience, and so on.
By the way, if "3D" is a gimmick, so is playing movies on an Xbox.
People who say these kind of things are either jealous, or scared. Every time I hear how negative EA is toward Nintendo, it makes me want to have EA succeed less.
@cdawg Nothing was confirmed, read it again. It was only said that Retro is capable of having more than one thing in production, at one time.
So, the "Unfinished Business" was the stuff they didn't get a chance to put into DKC:Returns...
What do I want to see in the future of Metroid? A 2D game like Super Metroid, only longer, scarier, and more exciting! The G-Pad would work great.
I'm not completely against a new prime... an FPS would also be great with the G-Pad.
@ljb88
... then don't buy one...
@Frapp
Because Kids want to be Teens, Teens want to be adults, and adults want to be Teens.
@DarkKirby
It's that foul loop, which is full of generalizations. If there WERE more third party games, they probably would sell. UBISOFT and SEGA are getting a majority of the third party Wii U market. If Rockstar showed up, the sales ( per-console) would be very good, I tell you what!
@theberrage
It also wouldn't exist if GTA V was never made. Nor would this blatantly obvious comment.
@Snkfiend
I don't understand your last two points... Are you trying to say that Wii U owners are jealous of 360 and PS3 owners because we didn't get the game, too?
Shouldn't the voting results have changed a little from 230 votes to 420?
I've played every GTA, never owned it. Okay, I haven't played 5 (yet). Every time I've played, It's just been " Hey look at the cars I can steal! Haha, I just ran that guy over!" I'm intrigued with this great landscape, GTA V is offering. Now, I don't have a problem with the game, I have a problem with people who "preach-to-the-choir", kids who play because others play. I think the worst, however, is the simple reviews from general media (also trying to hang off the coattails of GTA V's popularity): claiming that "Because it's so expensive, it's better" and "Because it's so popular, it's better" Or "I've heard there is over 70 hours, on the main story!". This title would be good for Wii U. From all the videos I've watched, it looks like it was made for the G-Pad (It might even take less time to finish ). Unless you want to make the game more popular to the general public ("casual crowd"), I don't think boycotting is a good idea.
@bananacheck If anything is going for controversy, it would be series itself.
Also, to all these Windwaker HD Nay-sayers: there are more than just "HD". If you haven't played it, it was lost (stolen) or sold... That's off topic, though...
@JaxonH Thanks for saving me a bit of time.
So, think the "Wii U" name stinks (N U Would have been better)? Just call it Nintendo; be generic. I've said that I was playing a GameBoy, so people will understand 3DS. I Almost always have my G-pad plugged in. That's never been a big problem.
Advertising... I can't recall the last advertisement I'd seen for just Wii U, on TV. I have seen some on the Internet. I enjoy the Nintendo Directs. They need to bring back the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69_l1oZ2b2M nerds (They must be about 50, by now). Instead of "your parents help you hook it up" "you help your parents hook it up".
Nintendo needs — I suppose they just "should"-- do an ad campaign where they mock people who don't know what the Wii U is (FACT: Mockery is the best way to get people to learn).
@edhe Those are also some of my favourite games! I never finished The mystical Ninja, because you needed the save-pak. I tried to just leave the TV on, while I slept, but If I turned on the TV after the N64, it would mess up, and become staticky snow. So, I had to restart every time. Mischief Makers is great, too. It was the first game one of my school chums played with.
When they mentioned they were doing a remake, at first, they didn't say which one (it was in the air, whether it was a LTTP 3D remake, or what). Therefore, this is more of a confirmation. Skyward Sword is fine. It doesn't need to be remade. A TP HD remake wouldn't be too bad. Or what if they made an HD TP and Windwaker combo .... If I recall, and I do, I thought the textures in TP were great. I find it disconcerting that the same people who dislike Windwaker for being too light and colourful, dislike Twilight Princess for being too dark and gloomy.
@RetroBillyT
Jam! Freestyle!
I actually have SnowBoard Kids! It was one of my favourite N64 games! It got more difficult to play, as the controllers grew worse. I was hoping to play the sequel, but it never came to the video store
I also played a little of battletanx... And Tetris 64 (I liked Terisphere better).
Yeah, the Murphy Levels can be frustrating, but there are some that are just great (like What the Duck, in the trailer video). I wouldn't continue to the next level, until I got gold and all the Teenys. So, I played through some levels a few times. The Musical levels are great (so are the 8-bit remixes).
When I am reading reviews, I often look at different websites, multiple reviews/opinions. I believe it would be a good idea to have at least two different reviewers on a single game (even if it is a child...). Having the "%" or "/10" rating system makes it easier for people to advertise decent score, but without facts or details about the game, just having a score isn't enough; I want to know why it's bad, or why it's good. Something that's very common with reviews is comparing them directly to a previous release in the series, or something similar, instead of as a game itself (It happens more often with TV show reviews, which is why I don't read them anymore). It's nice to have a bit of comparison, but when it becomes a review based on bunch of opinions, a review can lose it's credibility.
It puts my mind at ease. So it started out as the "Nintendo-smash-fighter's" for Wii. Then they changed it to superheroes. Then they put the project away, and redeveloped it on the of Wii U. As sick as I am of hearing about games that were going to be developed for earlier consoles, in many cases I am glad they were made. It happens to many games, and many ideas; for instance, Halo started as a game for Macintosh computers It was then left for several years. Twilight Princess was developed for Gamecube, but given better control on Wii. It's not the same as something like this.
I know several people who bought a PS2 for a cheap DVD player. Blu ray is/was a gimmick (If you don't agree, look up "gimmick"). They put emphasis on M games because: They make adult players feel "like they aren't doing something for kids". They make teenagers believe that "Since I probably shouldn't be playing this, but am, I am more mature than others." Gives kids that feeling of maturity, even if they don't understand it all (Which is what someone letting them play an M game understands about ratings).
The most memorable part of TS2 was The Anaconda minigame.
So, where's the Rainfall campaign for this?
@Doma
According to EA, the most despised Genre is sports.
They said it would be easier to develop for, when they revealed it... I'm just glad it's getting out there. Maybe EA will listen to people who have no track record. You know, the Indies.
Good News: People can't say that NintendoTVii is the only Cloud Service Nintendo Offers, even if the Pokemon files are pretty small pieces of data. Bad News: The tentative and optional subscription price for "the cloud gaming that everyone wants, but doesn't want because Nintendo is doing it" is too much.
The name confused a lot of people. An Average consumer probably wouldn't understand, comparing it to other consoles "revamps".
When I demonstrated it to friends (last year), often I got the "What's so different from the Wii?" "Well... HD, better online, a Wii Emulator, the G-Pad..." Playing Nintendo Land didn't prove anything, Graphic-wise — or anything too interesting about the G-Pad. It would have been great if there was an HD Wii-Sports combo attached with Nintendo Land.
I find it quite irritating when people say "I heard it is just a Wii Ad-On" or other misinformed statements like "I heard it isn't even better than the PS3".
It seems like there is a problem deciphering fact from opinions and predictions. Maybe I'm just a patient person, but I haven't minded the slow loading time. Having more internal storage would have been appealing, at least to the general public...
How many people will get buy an external HD for their Xbone or PS4, anyway?
